Chapter 415: Chapter 178, The Road of Boldro

”Of course, I also feel very honored.” Surya didn’t hesitate for a moment and immediately placed her small hand, clad in white velvet gloves, into Laine’s large hand.

”Thank you very much.” Laine breathed a light sigh of relief in his heart, making things much easier.

He felt that the lady knight always extended her hand to help when he needed it most, warming his heart.

Moreover, Surya participated in this banquet in her personal capacity, which, for an unmarried Marchioness, meant something that both Laine and Surya understood.

They started to have a mutual understanding.

The two agreed to gather at Laine’s place three days later and then head to Boldro together.

The capital of the Boldro Duchy, Bodlukes, was not far from Laine’s territory in Gene Territory. The entire journey would take at most two days, and Laine planned to arrive a day early, allowing him to visit the headquarters of the Sea God Knight Order and the prosperous Bodlukes.

Laine did not need a large escort; as a Lord, he certainly couldn’t travel alone as he did before, doing everything personally would be beneath him.

As usual, the identity of the lady knight made it inconvenient for her to stay overnight, so after agreeing on the time with Laine, she rode her Pegasus away, leaving behind Amelia.

Having studied at Winford for half a year, Amelia matured quickly, yet in front of Laine, she remained the sweet and charming little maid. After a few months apart, her eyes were bright as she whispered while sitting beside Laine: ”Mr. Laine, I heard all about it. You destroyed the Ten Thousand Demon Rock and completely defeated the Beastman Tribe.”

”It’s nothing significant, Amelia, eliminating those Beastmen in the forest is what I should do.” Laine didn’t take it as a big deal, but Amelia was very earnest: ”No, Mr. Laine, you protected this country, you are the greatest.”

”Speaking of which, I used to rely on my Disguise Technique to help you, but now I can’t help you with anything, Mr. Laine.” Amelia pouted, looking aggrieved: ”If this continues, Mr. Laine will dislike me.”

”Haha~ How could I dislike you, Amelia, you have already helped me a great deal in many areas.” Laine knew Amelia was always looking to repay his kindness but couldn’t find a way. Thus, he proactively said: ”By the way, I’m about to head to Bodlukes. Would you like to join me?”

”Eh? Can I?” Amelia’s eyes lit up.

”Yes, Ollica doesn’t like traveling far, so this time you will come with me. There is nothing urgent at the academy, right?”

”No, there isn’t.”

”Then it’s settled; you will accompany me to Bodlukes this time.”

”Okay!”

......

At the same time, Brittania, Duchy of Connaught, the Cursed City of Musillon.

The high city walls had partially sunk into the swamp, occupied by fleeing peasants and various unidentified creatures. The streets were dark and eerie, under the shadow of the great walls, receiving less than three hours of sunlight each day. As a result, most residents had pale skin and were listless.

The city’s economic circulation system remained a mystery, hosting taverns, brothels, drug dens, fighting pits, and other darker, decadent places. Shops typically sold forbidden books, cult insignias, and assorted poisons and assassination tools, yet there seemed to be no grocery or tailor shops—the staples of any ordinary city life.

Most residents seemed to have strange tasks to complete outside the city. Every day, carts and ships laden with essentials arrived. Among them, Blood Nobles and Vampire Cavalry roamed frequently, yet maintained a mutual disregard with the residents. As long as peasants paid taxes or sold blood, the vampires allowed them to continue living here.

Moreover, Brittania’s largest fence for stolen goods, despite being unwilling to admit it, operated here. Many seemingly glamorous Rogue Knights liked to bring their illegal earnings here to fence them. The vampires heavily purchased and resold stolen goods, making substantial profits. How they disposed of these goods remained a mystery.

And today, a carriage slowly entered Musillon, drawn by four dead horses.

Indeed, four horses that had become undead, stripped of all flesh.

This sent a chill down the residents’ spines, who instinctively avoided the path of the bone horses into the city, their withered figures carrying only a green soul flame flickering in their eyes.

Inside the dark carriage, a low, dry, hoarse voice conversed with a young, vigorous one.

”Ah~ not knowing how many ages have passed, how much time endured, I finally return to the Old World. Signs of divination and prophecy show that to bring our Master back from the darkness, we need to collect more materials,” said the low, dry, hoarse voice.

”Materials? Godfather, if we want the Master of the Undead to return, what materials do we need to gather?” the young voice replied, sounding full of determination and defiance yet laden with hatred.

”We need to find the Nine Volumes authored by our Master, and we also need to amass a sufficient amount of magical startup mediums to serve as offerings to guide our Master’s return,” continued the hoarse voice: ”Ah~ only the residual Magic Power of the Nine Volumes can solve that puzzle, and only adequate offerings can lure our Master’s fragmented soul back into this world to complete resurrection.”
