Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: For Money, I’ll Endure It

Zhang Zhe laughed out loud at Jiang Qi’s words.

He took out his phone, glanced at the time, and said with feigned surprise, ”It’s clearly twelve noon. Why is someone acting like they’re still asleep?”

”Are you daydreaming?”

”What’s that supposed to mean?” Jiang Qi demanded, her eyes wide. ”You can’t even meet the client’s needs, but you’re still hogging the resources?”

”Do you think you own this matchmaking agency?”

”If I were the boss? You would’ve been fired long ago.”

”Moron.”

With that, Zhang Zhe crossed his arms and walked out, not giving the woman another thought.

Although he acted like a hothead toward Jiang Qi, he knew perfectly well what was going on:

It was only a matter of time before someone came to steal the fruits of his labor.

He had encountered the same thing countless times at his previous jobs. Every time he made a little progress, before he could even fully process it himself, his manager would have already reported it as their own achievement.

A matchmaking agency was still a business, so Zhang Zhe wasn’t surprised to run into this kind of situation.

It was a bit early, though; he’d only been here for half a month.

But the ”fruit” was already quite ripe.

Several women looking to land a sugar daddy had come for consultations before, and he’d scared them all off with his bluntness.

Those women, in fact, had a very high willingness to pay for matchmaking services.

Five to ten times higher than single men in similar situations.

They figured spending a little extra money was no big deal. As long as they could find a rich man, they could recoup any amount they spent.

It was the same logic as those internet celebrities who take out loans for cosmetic procedures. If they could manage to snag a sugar daddy with their looks, the initial investment in plastic surgery was nothing.

’This Jiang Qi is going to be a problem.’

’There must be plenty of others at the agency who, like her, want a piece of the pie.’

’Don’t tell me even Boss He can’t see this clearly. Is he really going to let people like her get involved?’

The more Zhang Zhe thought about it, the more constrained he felt. The downside of not being his own boss was already becoming apparent.

He had to get out as soon as possible and open his own matchmaking agency.

Otherwise, this workplace nightmare of having his work stolen would happen to him all over again.

At this thought, Zhang Zhe quickly glanced at his WeChat.

His most important client base was right there in his WeChat groups.

And it was a good thing he looked, or he would have missed the message Hui Zi had sent him.

[Hui Zi: Brother Zhang, I’ve got the person arranged.]

[Hui Zi: When are you going live? I’ll have her join your stream.]

Zhang Zhe quickly sent him the link to the matchmaking agency’s livestream.

...

The livestream resumed at two in the afternoon.

The girl Hui Zi had arranged was already waiting.

”Hello, streamer.” The moment the girl started speaking, Zhang Zhe felt a pleasant tingle run through him.

Her voice was incredibly sweet, reminiscent of Lin Zhiling.

’Is this the power of money?’ he thought. ’You ask for someone gentle, and the matchmaker even picks out their voice for you.’

If she ran into one of those young guys with a voice fetish, she’d have him wrapped around her finger the moment she opened her mouth.

”Hello. You know what we’re doing, right?”

”Yes, I do,” the woman replied gently. ”I’m here for ’Service B.’ You’re my blind date.”

”That’s right. It can’t be helped. Rich people, you know? They can’t possibly come on every blind date themselves, so they pay people like me to screen candidates for them.”

”I’m going to be very direct in a bit, so don’t get upset, okay?”

”I won’t, I won’t. I understand completely.”

”Good.” This was Zhang Zhe’s way of being polite before getting down to business. If the girl had a meltdown on the livestream later, what he just said could barely pass as a disclaimer.

[The streamer has this kind of service?]

[Must be nice to be rich. You can even get a matchmaker to be your stand-in.]

[Brother Zhang was born in the wrong era. With your skills, you could have been a Grand Eunuch in ancient times. Now you can only screen dates for the rich.]

[So this girl is also trying to marry up?]

”Why don’t you start by introducing yourself.”

”I’ll see if there’s anything worth asking about.”

”Okay.” The girl’s voice was very clear. ”I was born in ’99. I’m 5’6”, weigh 110 pounds, and I’m an only child.”

”I have a bachelor’s degree from Qing City University. I majored in marketing. After graduating, I started working in sales at a local private company, mainly in the medical device sector.”

”My current annual income is around 150,000 yuan.”

”In my line of work, sales depends heavily on personal connections. Since my hometown is Yun City and I have fewer connections here, I feel like my career has hit a ceiling.”

”My family’s assets are around A8.3. My parents own a factory, but business hasn’t been great the past two years, so they haven’t been earning much...”

[This girl’s got great stats!]

[Damn, she’s a great catch. I hate rich people!]

[Besides her job being so-so, she’s flawless.]

[A girl like this must be looking for an A9-level rich guy, right?]

[How much did the streamer get paid for this? Even a woman like her is using you to find a date?]

After listening, Zhang Zhe was quite satisfied with the girl’s basic qualifications.

Hui Zi wanted someone gentle, and this girl, having grown up in the Jiangnan water towns, definitely fit the bill.

He wanted someone with high EQ, and as a salesperson, the girl’s emotional intelligence was surely not an issue. Otherwise, she would have starved long ago.

But now there were two major problems:

First, the woman was only 26, while Hui Zi was 34—a full eight-year age gap.

Even in a late-life romance, that would be considered a significant gap.

Second, he didn’t know how well the girl could handle pressure. Her family was A8, so she didn’t lack money. She might not be willing to put up with a difficult mother-in-law.

”Has your family always been this wealthy? Are you new money or old money?” Zhang Zhe asked.

”Huh?” The woman was taken aback. ’Who asks questions like that?’ ”We’ve... always been this wealthy, I guess.”

”Are you sure you’re an only child? Do your parents have any illegitimate children?”

”No, just me,” the girl explained very seriously. ”My parents have a great relationship. None of that messy cheating stuff.”

”Did you grow up with your parents?”

”Were you ever a ’left-behind child’?”

”No.”

”Then you might not be a good fit.” Zhang Zhe shook his head, looking troubled. ”The man—meaning me, for now—his mother is a very domineering person. The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship will be extremely difficult to handle.”

”You’re a pampered young lady who grew up with her parents.”

”You won’t be able to take that kind of treatment.”

”Have you seen *My Own Swordsman*? You saw how badly Bai Zhantang’s mom bullied Tong Xiangyu, right? If you marry into this family, you might get bullied even worse.”

Zhang Zhe was genuinely looking out for the girl.

At the same time, he was being responsible to Hui Zi.

If Hui Zi married someone who couldn’t handle pressure, his daily life would be his mom yelling and his wife crying. His family life would be over.

”I can handle pressure very well.”

”I work in sales. I often have to deal with difficult clients, and I can always endure it.” The woman really wanted to marry into a wealthy family and was still trying her best to explain.

[No way. An only child could never put up with a difficult mother-in-law.]

[I know so many, and not a single only child is a pushover. They all have a bit of a temper.]

[Being able to endure it is useless. The fact that you *know* you’re enduring it means it won’t work. You need to be naturally spineless, the type who can just take whatever is dished out.]

[It’s really not easy being a rich man’s daughter-in-law.]

[What’s so hard to endure? My boss chews me out like I’m his grandson and I’m fine.]

The woman’s mention of her sales experience made Zhang Zhe hesitate.

Some salespeople really did humble themselves to the dust.

Salespeople endured for money, and being a rich family’s daughter-in-law was also for money. The two things seemed to have something in common.

”You said some of your clients make unreasonable demands.”

”Can you give me an example? I’m not doubting you, I just want to see for myself exactly how much you can take.”
