Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: That’s Not How the Matchmaking Mechanism Works

”Everyone, just a moment.”

”A VIP client from our matchmaking agency wants to join the stream.”

Zhang Zhe waited patiently for a while, and finally, the special effects of a Carnival gift appeared:

”Here she is, here she is! Welcome, [Wind Blows Pinellia].”

”Just click the ’Request to Join’ button in the bottom-right corner...”

”Hello?”

”Hello, Brother Zhang.” The voice was a bit shrill, belonging to a woman who sounded like she wasn’t to be trifled with. ”My cousin recommended you to me.”

”He said your analysis is pretty reliable.”

”Mhm, of course. I’m famous for being reliable.” Zhang Zhe nodded. ”Your cousin asked me to be direct. If I happen to offend you in a bit, don’t get angry, alright?”

”I won’t. I’m mentally prepared.”

”Good...” Zhang Zhe gestured at the form, waiting for the woman to introduce herself.

This young woman’s stats were completely different from her cousin’s.

Her cousin drove a sports car to pick up girls at school, while she, his older cousin, was engrossed in academics, singularly focused on advancing her education.

She currently held a PhD and was a university professor.

A female PhD, born in ’94. Her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate were all from a 985 university. Height: 158 cm. Weight: 42 kg. A 5/10 ”class beauty” level of attractiveness. She owned her own house and car, and her family’s wealth was A8 or higher...

As soon as these stats were listed, the sharper members of the audience already understood the situation.

[This woman can’t get married because she’s picky, for sure.]

[The more educated a woman is, the harder it is for her to get married.]

[If I had her stats, I feel like I wouldn’t even need to get married.]

Zhang Zhe waited quietly for her to finish. Instead of immediately asking what she was looking for in a partner, he began to help analyze her profile.

After all, she was recommended by a wealthy client, so he had to be a little more professional.

”Did you date at all when you were a student?”

”Almost never.”

”How many people pursued you?”

”Probably three, I think. But I wasn’t interested in any of them.”

”Then there’s a problem with you calling yourself the ’class beauty’.” Zhang Zhe was direct. ”Was your class made up of only four people? You were the class beauty, and the other three guys all pursued you. Is that how it was?”

”No, but I was probably a bit of an ice queen. I was a good student, so maybe ordinary guys didn’t dare to pursue me.”

”You really underestimate guys, then.” Zhang Zhe chuckled. ”Especially guys in school. As long as a girl is good-looking, someone will pursue her, even if it’s like a moth to a flame.”

”Let me put it this way. A girl from my year got into Yanda Guanghua. She was the top scholar in our city, and she was only a 4/10 in looks, but she still had four guys chasing her.”

”And I was one of them.”

[Hahaha, so true.]

[A class beauty definitely doesn’t lack pursuers. A class beauty who also gets good grades has even more.]

[Just look at Shen Jiayi. Basically half the guys in the class would have a secret crush on her.]

”Besides, at 158 cm, I find it hard to believe you were the class beauty.”

”Why are you so hung up on that?” the woman asked, confused. ”Why can’t I be the class beauty at 158 cm? For a girl, my height is considered tall.”

”No, it’s not. It’s considered short,” Zhang Zhe said with great precision. ”If you don’t believe me, you can look up the data on female students at your university.”

”As for why I’m being so particular, it’s simple. A flawed self-perception is the root of all tragedy.”

”You have a PhD. You should be able to understand that, right?”

”...” The woman went silent.

[Brother Zhang, isn’t that a little too harsh?]

[It’s fine. She’s not arguing back.]

[Maybe she really went to look up the data.]

[If she keeps thinking of herself as the class beauty, she’s definitely going to be hard to deal with.]

”Alright, now tell me, what are you currently looking for in a partner?”

”My requirements are actually quite simple,” the woman said, speaking again.

”I just hope his stats are similar to mine. Family wealth should be A8, though A7 is also acceptable. Being with him should make me happy. The only other requirement is for height—he can’t be shorter than 178 cm.”

”’Make you happy’—that means he needs to provide you with emotional value, right? Is being handsome enough?”

”That’s enough. It would be even better if he were considerate.”

”Nothing else.”

”Really?” Zhang Zhe shot back. ”Would a vocational college degree be okay?”

Generally, highly educated people in the matchmaking market have requirements for their partner’s education level.

”No way, no way. I have a PhD. I’m not saying he has to have one too, but he needs a Master’s degree at the very least, right?”

”Then it’s impossible.” Zhang Zhe shook his head decisively. ”Your height is too much of a drawback. Unless you find someone through organic dating, men in the matchmaking market generally won’t look for someone 20 cm shorter than them.”

”Even a couple with an ’ideal height difference’ like Old Kua and Sister Yu didn’t meet through matchmaking. They met over a bowl of stir-fried tofu with hot peppers.”

”I don’t think my height is the drawback. I think my age is,” the woman argued.

”Listen to yourself. Weren’t you younger before? Besides, 31 is actually fine for a female PhD. You can easily explain it away by saying you were in school for a long time.”

[This sister seems to have some issues with self-awareness.]

[People around her probably praised her too much. No one usually criticizes a female PhD, so she took a few compliments to heart.]

[If I met a woman like this, I’d praise her too. I’d be afraid of getting chewed out if I told the truth.]

”Huh?” The woman had clearly seen the bullet comments. She didn’t try to argue, but instead smiled and asked, ”Is this what the matchmaking market is like now?”

”I can’t be matched with anyone 178 cm or taller?”

”That’s right.” Zhang Zhe nodded. ”I have data from other matchmaking agencies here. Both men and women have basic requirements. Once a man starts specifying a height requirement for a woman, it’s almost always 165 cm and up.”

”A 180 cm man, if his own stats are good, will require the woman to be at least 170 cm.”

”Then...” The woman thought carefully about Zhang Zhe’s words. ”What if I lower my education requirement to a Bachelor’s from a Tier 1 university?”

”Still a long shot.”

”On what grounds?”

”On what grounds does a 985 PhD like me, who wants a tall, handsome guy, have to settle for someone with a vocational degree?” the woman protested, unconvinced. ”I’m just a little short. The drawback can’t be that serious.”

”It has nothing to do with your drawback.”

”It’s that your standards are too high. Tall, handsome, *and* highly educated—men like that are unicorns in the matchmaking market.”

”Let me put it this way: when a multi-millionaire woman goes to a high-end club to find a handsome companion, the top performer is usually just a guy with a vocational degree.”

[If a guy’s got the looks, he rarely needs to compete in academics.]

[To be honest, a handsome guy with a good education isn’t just liked by women, men like him too. There’s no way he’d end up in the matchmaking market.]

[Come to think of it, my handsome friends really don’t tend to have high degrees.]

[A handsome guy is too busy dealing with women all day. Where would he find the time to study?]”

”But a female PhD like me is also a unicorn in the matchmaking market!” The woman was getting anxious. ”With my education, I should at least rank in the top 1% of women, right?”

”Be bolder. Top 0.1%.”

”But it’s useless.” Zhang Zhe gave an example. ”In your view, a female PhD should be matched with a male PhD. An outstanding woman like Miss Dong should be with someone like President Ren or President Lei.”

”But in reality, she chose Xiaowang.”

”Or take a look at Brother Dong. By your standards, he should have found a rich woman with a similar net worth, a power couple of business elites. But what happened? The man claims to be face-blind.”

”The top-tier men in the matchmaking market—those with high education, high income, and high attractiveness—are either looking to climb even higher by finding a rich older woman, or they just want someone young and beautiful.”

”’Education’ as a criterion ranks several places behind ’young and beautiful’.”

Zhang Zhe basically understood this female PhD’s situation now. She was a classic case of someone who had spent too long in an ivory tower, completely oblivious to the world outside.
