The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1337: Chapter 517: The Assistant Forced to Be Promoted (Part 2)

Under the bewildered gaze of Xiaoyan, Du Mengqi deliberately paused for a moment, then pretended to quickly step forward to greet them.

”Good morning, Mr. Sun!”

”Oh, it’s Mengqi...”

What Xiaoyan couldn’t understand was that, after taking a look at Du Mengqi’s outfit, their superior Vice President Sun not only did not fly into a rage but instead showed an approving smile almost immediately.

That welcoming smile was something Xiaoyan hadn’t seen in almost three years of working at this company—

”You look very nice today, this outfit suits you well.”

Mr. Sun first praised Du Mengqi, then reached out to shake hands with her, smiling warmly, ”Mengqi, although it’s a pity we won’t be working together anymore, we’ve been colleagues after all, surely we won’t become strangers, right?”

”Of course not!”

Du Mengqi quickly replied with a smile, ”Mr. Sun, I have all your previous guidance in mind. Even though I’ve resigned, I’ll still be working at the International Gold Center, so we’ll still run into each other often. I’d love to have tea with you when I’m free and listen to more of your teachings...”

”Hahaha, Xiao Li, see? I said Mengqi is the most emotionally intelligent in our department, she has such a way with words!”

Vice President Sun pointed at Du Mengqi and turned to laugh with their assistant, and then asked casually, ”Mengqi, is your company officially opening today?”

”Yes, Mr. Sun...”

”I hear you and Mr. Jiang over there were university classmates?”

”She was my junior at the same school when I was studying abroad, we had a great relationship back then...”

Du Mengqi didn’t seem surprised by Vice President Sun’s inquiry. After all, she’d already been asked about this by more than one company executive before she resigned.

After getting his answer, the smile on Vice President Sun’s face seemed to grow even wider, and he didn’t say anything more. He simply shook Du Mengqi’s hand tightly again with a meaningful look in his eyes before turning to leave.

At this moment, Du Mengqi glanced at Xiaoyan, who was already dumbfounded, and chuckled disdainfully, ”You dare to point fingers at me? A frog in a well, it’s truly laughable.”

With that, seeing Xiaoyan’s face flushed, too embarrassed to refute, Du Mengqi leisurely turned around and walked away.

At this moment, Du Xiaoyan felt a sense of clarity throughout her body.

This wretch, relying on having started a year earlier at the company, used her so-called seniority to consistently exploit her. She’d been displeased with her for a long time, and finally, she had the chance to fiercely humiliate her...

Feeling refreshed, Du Mengqi strutted into the elevator hallway with her high heels clacking, moving again to the dedicated number five elevator.

Besides this number five elevator, there were two other elevators that could also take her directly to the 56th floor, which was a testament to her new company’s stature, giving Du Mengqi the confidence to arrive just in time.

At the entrance of the number five elevator, there were two other young men in suits chatting and laughing, and upon seeing Du Mengqi, both greeted her.

”Yo, Mengqi, you’re looking quite pretty today. It’s been so long since I’ve seen you in black stockings!”

”Hey, could it be that you heard Mr. Zhou is showing up today and dressed up specially for the occasion?”

”Get lost!”

Faced with their teasing, Du Mengqi, whose intentions had been exposed, felt her face warm up and could only feign nonchalance, scolding them with a smile.

The two men before her were Liu Heng and Wang Ze Kai. They were the other two young men she had been with on that day, and now, they had each left their former positions to become members of the newly established Wangzhou Group headquarters.

Although they had connections with Jiang Qingkui from a past meeting, objectively speaking, all three had outstanding academic and professional backgrounds, making them elite white-collar workers in this metropolis. Aiming for a normal position in Wangzhou Group was not too difficult.

Except for the oldest among them at the time, Qian Zihao, who couldn’t bring himself to do it, the three had immediately started considering it after that dinner party.

They didn’t know Mr. Zhou well yet, but just the glimpse they caught at the banquet was enough for them to realize he was someone powerfully influential.

Especially since Wangzhou Group had just been established and was in need of manpower, intelligent individuals like them naturally wouldn’t pass up such a golden opportunity, leading to the scenario now before them.

As the three were joking and probing each other’s starting salaries, suddenly, two reporter-like individuals burst out from the stairwell, thrusting microphones into their faces before they could react.

”Hello, are you employees of Wangzhou Group?”

”Uh, yes...”

The three were somewhat caught off guard, but instinctively nodded.

Du Mengqi, with her sharp eye, noticed the logo on the microphone, and to her surprise, it was ”Phoenix Net,” which was no small media outlet...

”I have a few questions I’d like to ask you. How did you get hired at Wangzhou Group, and what do you know about your mysterious boss, Mr. Zhou Wang? There are rumors that Wangzhou Group’s undercover operations are not quite legitimate. Can I ask...”

Before they could react, the female reporter already asked a barrage of rapid-fire questions.

The three exchanged glances, unsure of what to say. Just as Du Mengqi was about to answer reflexively, with a ”ding,” the elevator from below reached the first floor.

The elevator doors opened, revealing a woman in a business suit standing at the forefront.

With delicate features and vivid makeup, her hair was styled in a way that accentuated her professionalism, with a few smartly dressed young men and women standing deferentially behind her.

Seeing the woman with such presence, Du Mengqi and the others straightened up subconsciously, quickly greeting her respectfully:

”President Xu!”

Xu Wenqian furrowed her brow when she noticed the two reporters.

She ignored the eager reporters approaching to interview her and instead cast a cold glance at the three, ”It’s almost business hours, what are you doing here?”

”Ah, we...”

Du Mengqi and the others were a little clueless, confused as to why President Xu, who had seemed relatively amiable in their previous impressions, appeared so stern now.

”Being blocked by outsiders and not knowing what to do? This is the International Gold Center, not a street market...”

Xu Wenqian stated coldly.

The young man named Liu Heng was the first to react. He quickly shouted, ”Security!”

Once the security arrived, the two reporters from Phoenix Net reluctantly left, and Liu Heng and the others quickly entered the elevator.

As the elevator doors closed, realizing something might be amiss, Du Mengqi hastily apologized with an awkward smile, ”Sorry, President Xu, we didn’t expect reporters to block us here...”

”What did you say?”

Xu Wenqian clearly didn’t want to hear their excuses.

”Nothing, we didn’t say anything. Those reporters had just arrived when you appeared, President Xu...”

”I see.”

Xu Wenqian replied flatly and then fell silent.

The three finally breathed a sigh of relief, as Xu Wenqian, at this point holding concurrent responsibilities for Wangzhou Group’s finance and personnel, was regarded as second only to the group’s CEO Jiang Qingkui, and anyone facing her would undoubtedly feel immense pressure.

The three were unaware that, behind her stern expression, Xu Wenqian wasn’t at ease either.

She actually only wished to be a little assistant, quietly staying by that man’s side. However, things didn’t go as hoped, and under Zhou Wang’s forceful orders, she had been ”pushed onto the stage,” becoming a Vice President of the new group, and now, she had her own assistants, more than one...

Xu Wenqian didn’t know how to reprimand someone, so she merely mimicked Jiang Qingkui’s stern demeanor, but was actually a bit flustered.

Fortunately, judging by the three’s apprehensive expressions, it seemed her act was quite convincing... (ノ﹏ヽ)
