The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 557: Chapter 234 Gems and Redemption _3

”Shen Yutong!”

Shen Yutong hadn’t even finished her sentence when Zhang Lifang, who had snapped back to reality, shrieked, ”Are you trying to kick us out now? Oh my god, everyone, come and see, my own daughter, whom I raised, is trying to throw me out...”

Seeing Zhang Lifang about to start her usual tantrum, Shen Yutong closed her eyes for a moment and said directly, ”I won’t be staying here tomorrow either. If you want to continue living here, talk to the landlord yourselves.”

”What do you mean?”

Zhang Lifang’s wailing abruptly stopped, while Liu Chao asked confusedly.

Shen Yutong ignored Liu Chao and only looked at Zhang Lifang, saying calmly, ”I found a job. Tomorrow, I will go to the school to arrange a leave of absence. After that, I will leave Ming City for a while, so I’ve already given up this apartment.”

”A job?”

Hearing her daughter mention so many things at once, Zhang Lifang didn’t even have the energy to be angry. She hurried over and asked repeatedly, ”What job? No, and you’re quitting college? You’re only in your sophomore year...”

”Tongtong, if it’s because of financial pressure, there’s no need to worry. Your brother-in-law already told you, whether it’s your tuition or living expenses, he can cover them all. Just remember his kindness!”

Seeing Shen Yutong completely ignoring him, Liu Chao felt furious but still suppressed his anger and advised, ”You’re still a student, so of course, your studies should come first. It’s okay to work part-time usually, but how can you take a leave of absence?”

”Yeah, Yutong, you should listen to your brother-in-law, he has more social experience, he won’t harm you...”

”I know what I’m doing, I don’t need anyone to teach me!”

Already very irritable, Shen Yutong momentarily lost control of her emotions, raising her voice a bit, but quickly she took a deep breath and tried to calmly explain to Zhang Lifang, ”I found an acting job, and I’ll be staying with a crew soon. I’ll be gone for at least two to three months, so I have to take a leave of absence... This opportunity is very important to me; I won’t give it up.”

”Acting?”

Liu Chao’s expression changed immediately, ”Yutong, don’t you know what the entertainment industry is like? Those so-called celebrities are actually just f***ing prostitutes. Our boss at the construction site has even slept with a couple of them; how can you become an actor?”

”This is my own business.”

Shen Yutong finally responded coldly.

”What do you mean by ’your own business’?”

Liu Chao, unable to control his anger any longer, also raised his voice.

”Did you know when your brother-in-law sent you to learn dance, he already had a plan for you? Once you graduate, you could teach at my friend’s training school, earning at least twenty to thirty thousand a month. That’s not too bad, is it?”

”And now you’re whimsically deciding to become an actor, who knows what kind of filthy life it will lead to? Your brother-in-law is thinking about your future, get it!”

”Heh, well, thank you very much, but I’d appreciate a little less of this ’thinking about my future’... especially from you, brother-in-law. I can’t afford it.”

Hearing the sarcasm in Shen Yutong’s words, Liu Chao burned with anger. At this point, the somewhat embarrassed Zhang Lifang feared what more Shen Yutong might say and quickly pulled Shen Yutong aside.

”Yutong, what nonsense are you saying? Hurry up and apologize to your brother-in-law...”

”Mom, my salary for this job is six hundred thousand before taxes.”

Facing Zhang Lifang’s constant winks, Shen Yutong just calmly replied.

”Ah... wh-what six hundred thousand?”

Zhang Lifang was initially stunned and then overwhelmed by the number, instinctively asking again.

”I said, my salary for this acting job is six hundred thousand.”

Shen Yutong repeated word by word, ”The filming period is three months, and after taxes, it’s at least four hundred thousand.”

Zhang Lifang’s mouth was slightly open, clearly shocked.

Three months... earning over four hundred thousand?

When Yu Rou’s father had his accident, the construction site only compensated them twenty thousand.

That was a human life!

Looking at the obviously skeptical Liu Chao and the slightly dazed Yu Rou, Shen Yutong felt a surge of gratification and vanity.

Brother-in-law Liu Chao’s business was quite varied and he was something of a local tyrant. Still, he made at most fifty to eighty thousand a month.

In recent years the market hadn’t been good, so his income had decreased. Shen Yutong had heard Liu Chao rant several times after drinking...

So forty to fifty thousand might already be his total annual income.

And now, she could earn that in just three months.

Shen Yutong hadn’t expected that right after he finished feeding Zhou Wang, he would make a decision and implement it so quickly.

Zhou Wang’s original words were that he might forget it later, so they should finalize it then...

Of course, from Shen Yutong’s perspective, it seemed Zhou Wang accomplished this without breaking a sweat. He merely made two phone calls.

The first call was to a certain ”Mr. Zhang.” Shen Yutong realized that might be the legendary Zhang Shihao, the head of Wuyou Media. Once Zhou Wang expressed his request, their conversation was quite interesting; to Shen Yutong, it sounded as casual as buying groceries:

”Need a girl?”

”Just give her a role, it’s just to give her some practice.”

”No, I have decision fatigue, second, third, or fourth female lead, you decide, don’t throw the problem back at me!”

”...Fine then, third female lead it is.”

”Okay, hang on, I’ll have the casting director contact you.”

The second call was from the casting director of the ”Chutianyao” production to Zhou Wang.
