Pillar of Yita

A bright starlight appeared in his eyes, the shining points connected in the darkness, forming the wooden structure. But Fang Hong had never seen such tight and intricate connections; it was far closer and sturdier than any metal he’d ever seen, not to mention wood and stone.

But more importantly, he sensed the vast magic power contained within the endless starlight, boundless, greater than an ocean.

Fang Hong’s hand trembled slightly, and he opened his eyes, a faint layer of silverlight residing in his eyes, fading slowly with time. The magic overflow brilliance was unnoticed by others, but Lord Moenyalit saw it clearly.

He smiled: ”Did you see it?”

Fang Hong nodded in shock.

Within the withered Heart of the Giant Tree, the magic power it left behind in life was still contained, for it had once floated in the Sea of Wind, absorbing endless elements and ether. It was like a massive magical source, even as a piece of deadwood, it contained vast strength.

This was far more than just a piece of deadwood; it was nothing short of a dream material for Alchemists.

Even if its origin was ignored, just relying on the magic contained within, it could already be considered divine artifact material. It was indeed Talaka, the Heart of World Tree.

It wasn’t merely an ordinary gift; in some ways, compared to Mei’s Oakwood Shield, it was not inferior at all.

No wonder Lord Moenyalit said this gift suited him best, because of everyone, only he was an Alchemist, only he could uncover the extraordinary nature of this deadwood.

”Those majestic epic trees once depicted the history of this world, but ancient catastrophes destroyed everything; it once drifted to the end of time, buried in the dust of history,” Lord Moenyalit slowly said at this moment, ”Few can still recall the glory of those legendary things, but I think, a person who hears the cycle of nature, might also listen to the ancient voices it holds—”

”Young human, maybe one day, you will give this Heart of Tree another kind of life.”

Fang Hong looked at the deadwood in his hand, unsure if turning it into an Alchemic creation counted as giving the Heart of Giant Tree another kind of life.

However, for him, it’s still somewhat distant.

Compared to him, this material’s level is too high; with his current level, it’s basically impossible to use. But he still nodded lightly, unable to use it now, doesn’t mean he can’t use it in the future.

...

As he left the forest, Fang Hong suddenly remembered something. He stopped Alice and asked: ”Speaking of which, you also took part in that combat, right?”

Alice tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, tilted her head, and answered: ”Me? What’s the matter?”

”I mean, without you, we might not have managed to recapture the Heart of Chongshan in time. Even though Miss Mei was there too, she alone might not have been a match for those of Twilight; did Lord Moenyalit forget about you?”

Mei pondered for a moment and also nodded. She was always fair, saying things as they were.

”So you are standing up for me,” Alice winked mischievously, ”but you are mistaken. It has already rewarded us long ago.”

”Really?” Fang Hong was slightly taken aback.

”You forgot I’m part of the Holy White Stone Guild? Just like it gave gifts to you all, and not just to you, but separate gifts for Big Cat People and Gita, my reward was also given to the team.”

Fang Hong suddenly remembered this matter, looking at her with some surprise: ”Speaking of which, are you planning to stay at the Holy White Stone Guild?”

Upon this topic, Alice seemed a bit bewildered too, shaking her head: ”I’m not sure either. If Holy White Stone no longer cooperates with Twilight, then staying here doesn’t make much sense. It depends on what they say on that side, though I think staying at the Holy White Stone Guild isn’t bad either.”

Fang Hong suddenly fell silent, realizing she wasn’t as free as he thought, unable even to decide her own stay. Indeed, upon meeting again compared to being in Fenris, this twin sister had greatly changed, possibly due to her inherent personality, displayed differently in Fenris, but undeniably, it may have been influenced by her experiences during these times.

Frankly, it was due to what happened in Fenris, she bore unnecessary burdens. Meanwhile, the instigators were still at large. Their pursuit of the Dark Followers’ trails, wasn’t it precisely for this reason?

He suddenly understood Elisa’s initial motivation for joining their team, gratitude and having no place to go, perhaps were mere excuses.

”And the military tasked you to infiltrate the Holy White Stone Guild, wouldn’t leaving the task on your own cause any trouble?”

”What are you thinking, they’re not heartless over there, the Heart of Chongshan’s matters are more urgent, I turned over the communication crystal to the Guild, unable to contact them. But afterward, I’ve reported back there, and next, it’s just a matter of going through an investigation process.”

”It’s really okay?”

”It’s okay,” Alice shook her head, speaking to him in a mature tone: ”Do have some confidence in your country, although they do handle things rather rigidly, requiring reports for even trivial matters, they nonetheless are people of great justice.”
