Pillar of Yita

Yin Shi had this thought flash through his mind, but immediately felt he was being unreasonable. How could it be possible? Unless the other party knew he would cast a spell there and was aware of his scouting habits as well as the general range of the spell.

The former two could be predicted, but how would outsiders know his scouting habits?

Only then did he feel relieved. Looking up, he noticed that the others had already walked away with the young ranger, and he couldn’t help but curse these sycophants under his breath before stepping forward to catch up.

But before he got close, he heard someone shouting amidst the snowstorm: ”Who’s there!?”

It was the voice of the warrior in the group.

Yin Shi’s heart tightened as he quickened his pace through the snow, just in time to see the other standing there, tensely looking in one direction. ”What’s going on?” he shouted.

The young ranger, who had returned from ahead, also asked the same question: ”What’s happening?”

”Someone was over there.”

The warrior pointed into the snowstorm.

He had clearly seen a black-haired girl standing there, her golden eyes exceptionally striking amidst the swirling snow, coldly gazing in their direction. But in just a blink, she had disappeared without a trace.

”A person?”

Dark Fairy Tale looked in that direction, but there was nothing but a blanket of white snow, ”There’s no one there, did you see it wrong?”

In terms of vision and hearing within the team, he was actually the one with the highest scouting skills, but the system behind the snowstorm didn’t outline a trace of red light, so he could clearly discern that there was no one hiding there.

”Really,” the warrior said loudly: ”It was a very beautiful woman, around seventeen or eighteen, wearing a black long dress.”

”A black long dress?” Dark Fairy Tale retorted unpleasantly: ”Are you fantasizing about women like crazy? In this weather, wearing a dress would just turn you into an ice bar.”

”But it really was...” the other party said somewhat aggrieved.

Dark Fairy Tale then gave Yin Shi a glance.

Though the two were not on good terms, they were still part of the same team, and Yin Shi understood his signal. He checked his mana reserves, then cast a ’Surpass Vision’ towards the direction behind the snowstorm.

But the information that returned was mundane, showing nothing at all.

He turned back and shook his head at the ranger.

”Alright,” Dark Fairy Tale patted the warrior’s shoulder and said: ”You might have seen it, but it might also just be an illusion. Still, we can’t stop and wait for your dream lover—stay alert, and if you see anything again, let us know, alright?”

The warrior, helplessly, could only nod.

Dark Fairy Tale then turned to the Alchemist nearby and asked: ”Is that Bellborg Valley ahead?”

The Alchemist quickly nodded: ”Yes, Dark Master.”

”Lead us there.”

...

Fang Hong was retracting the Clockwork Fairy.

If he knew Yin Shi’s thoughts at the moment, he might kindly tell him—scouting habits are indeed hard to predict. However, the method to achieve the maximum visual range effect of this type of long-range visual spell is certain.

For detecting sky targets, undoubtedly the best way is to unfold the vision from below upwards; this is a classic tutorial in Magic Guided, with its inventor unknown, quite possibly one of the thousands of native Magic Guided Conductors.

And similarly, the operational method of the Clockwork Fairy, also part of long-range visual capabilities, is fundamentally the same.

People’s subconscious choices tend to favor the method with the highest returns, so habits are not entirely reliable, unless someone deliberately does the opposite.

Engaging in strategic contests between masters, using reverse thinking is not without possibility, but the premise is realizing that the enemy is near oneself—otherwise, wouldn’t it just restrict one’s own scouting range?

Of course, there are exceptions, like Xiangzi, who often enjoys doing unexpected technical moves with no meaning at all, though Fang Hong believes such oddballs are the minority.

His team already had one, and if he encountered another, he could only consider himself unlucky.

Luckily, the facts proved his prediction entirely accurate. When the Clockwork Fairy crossed beneath the edge of the other’s vision, the Magic Guided Conductor clearly appeared oblivious.

With a ’click,’ he caught the returning Copper Sphere and then said to the others:

”Wait a little longer.”

”Wait a little longer?”

Sophie was visibly stunned.

She couldn’t think of any reason to wait. The other party obviously didn’t come with good intentions, and they clearly weren’t the embodiment of knightly chivalry, insisting on waiting until the other party made the first move before counterattacking.

Given the current situation, the best choice was, of course, to strike first and hopefully take them down before they even realized what hit them.

Never doubt the confidence of the Silver Weslan’s Elite Youth Training Group captain. She never considered the possibility of failure against such opponents. If it were her own team, she would have already ordered a direct attack.

The frontal assault of Silver Weslan just left a silhouette for the opponent in their final moments. They would launch a frontal attack, but when to launch it was decided by the party in control of the initiative.

And Silver Weslan always held the initiative—

However, this Princess was also quite wise. Seeing Fang Hong’s expression, she suddenly caught on. Linking back to his previous action of looking back, a notion flashed through her mind:
