Pillar of Yita

Fang Hong watched the Papalarians emerge from the shadows under the snowstorm, their short and stout bodies climbing over a low fence, scraping through the snow and weeds in the yard, and then laboriously climbing up to the windowsill.

He reached out and gave a pull, then asked, ”Are they still there?”

”I think they are gone,” Parker jumped down from the windowsill, clapped his hands, and glanced back at the house: ”The house is empty, no one is inside. Maybe they’ve already left, didn’t you kill that messenger once at Aimumu Fortress? Perhaps after resurrecting, he informed the others.”

Fang Hong’s gaze passed through the window and similarly looked toward the dilapidated house not far away. According to Parker and Tianlan, it was at the end of this street that they saw people from the Dragonfire Guild.

This place is actually the back alley of the Adventurers’ Guild, and they rented a room in a nearby lodge, which allows them to monitor the end of the street well. It’s a dead end, so anyone coming or going would have to pass this way.

Yet, after monitoring here for most of the day, only a few people have passed through this dilapidated alley, mostly local natives, and nothing suspicious.

Fang Hong nodded lightly, Parker’s theory seemed plausible, after all, those people were already colluding with the Dragon Worship Sect’s messenger back in Dolifen.

He was silent for a moment, pondering whether he needed to fight alone.

The presence of the Dragonfire Guild here risked exposure, and their mentioned plans were concerning; concerning the mastermind who caused that disaster in Dolifen thirty years ago, theoretically, he should actively seek help from Stargate Port.

But his identity was somewhat awkward, equally in the shadows, and posting in the community might alarm the enemy; A thought flashed through Fang Hong’s mind, maybe not him, but perhaps someone else could, he pondered slightly and quickly chose a suitable candidate.

Fang Hong lifted his head, taking one last look in that direction, and said, ”Let’s go.”

The other party had already left, and staying here would naturally be pointless.

Although Parker was somewhat reluctant, having just returned from the icy snow outside, he swore he wouldn’t want to go back into the harsh snowstorm again—according to Parker’s exaggerated description, the snow was deep enough to reach a Papalarian’s waist.

But what displeased Parker was that the opponent did not care about his intentions.

...

It was still daylight.

Su Changfeng remembered he last fell asleep twelve hours ago, when he could still see the star’s halo at Earth’s edge, and now it was the same, only the halo had shrunk a little.

This indicated Stargate Port had traveled halfway along its orbit, and the various timing methods on the orbit always caused him headaches, reminding him of his youth training days at the base.

Then his daughter had just been born, he recalled hearing the news at home and realizing he had become a father, almost going ecstatic at the thought.

In the blink of an eye, nearly twenty years had passed, his wife’s gentle smile stayed deep in his memory, and his daughter grew up gradually, although his own hair turned gray, no longer youthful.

Su Changfeng quietly gazed at the nearly unchanged halo from twenty years ago, contemplating for a moment, then turned over and got up from the bed in the microgravity environment.

The living cabin filled with dark red light, he first opened his personal terminal, which had a few trivial messages — coincidentally someone was looking for him. He lightly swiped on the glass panel, displaying Ambassador Liao’s somewhat tired face.

”You’re awake just in time, there are some things to discuss, better to come to the meeting room,” he said.

Su Changfeng looked at the person, both were graduated from Stargate Port base, responsible for different aspects. The latter was almost a workaholic, sometimes he suspected whether the person even needed sleep.

”What’s the matter?”

”The results from Stargate Port are out.”

”They’re out?”

Su Changfeng patted his face to clear his mind, remembering the matter. In the past month, among the top events at Stargate Port, the incident on Fenris Island could certainly rank in the top three.

Not only them, after the footage circulated in the community, other sectors began to focus on this event. The domestic Super Competitive League had several times submitted proposals to Stargate Port, requesting intervention in the matter—

But they were all blocked by the military under various pretenses.

The most crucial point is that Stargate Port hasn’t identified the opponent yet. That youth seemed to have vanished or never existed, with origins unknown, and whereabouts untraceable.

The investigation by Stargate Port over the past month showed no progress.

”How did it turn out, what about that little guy?”

”A good news and a bad news, which one do you want to hear first?”

”Don’t play those tricks,” Su Changfeng saw his old classmate joking with him, knowing the person’s mood was decent: ”I’m a soldier, used to considering problems from the worst-case scenario, so let’s hear the bad news first.”

Ambassador Liao then gently smiled: ”The bad news is that all personnel entries and exits at Stargate Port over the past month have been investigated, but the youth from Fenris underground was not found.”
