Pillar of Yita

”Wait, you mean you want us to be the bait!?”

”Are you kidding!?”

The young man’s voice suddenly rose and it reached Fang Hong’s ears through the Clockwork Fairy’s transmission crystal, causing a buzzing in his ears.

Fang Hong frowned, tilted his head, and only then did he move the transmission crystal slightly away from his ear—cheap transmission crystals have this downside, they capture the sound source and amplify it without any protective measures.

Luckily, he had preemptively reacted by lowering the sound, otherwise, he feared it might cause a perforation of his eardrum.

In Fang Hong’s vision, the young man seemed to be struggling to stand up, but a pair of pale bone hands pressed him firmly from behind. Behind was a Black Swordsman, with two glowing red lights flashing on its jagged skull, standing solemnly with his sword on his back.

The Undead Wizard—or the Dragon Worship Sect’s messenger Fang Hong had once encountered in Dolifen—spread his hands in a seemingly helpless manner: ”Don’t put it so harshly, this is an exchange, ladies and gentlemen, willing participants... how can you expect me to release you? As you see, I’m not a good person, so of course, I won’t do good deeds without reason...”

He held a curved Skeleton Staff, pacing in the snow while looking at these people: ”But if you show your worth, or should I say satisfy me, maybe I might let you go...”

Although he seemed sincere, the Invoker isn’t a fool, their heart sank a little, realizing the other had evil intentions.

The young man fell silent for a moment, seemingly making some decision, then asked: ”But the thing under Aimumu Fortress, how can we possibly survive in front of it?”

Fang Hong raised an eyebrow slightly upon hearing this.

The term ’under Aimumu Fortress’ grabbed his attention sharply. Fang Hong knew exactly what was there, besides the strange shadows and vampires, only the Sorcerer-Ghoul remained.

But there wasn’t just one strange shadow or vampire, meanwhile, Colin Ishurian’s language distinctly separated singular from plural, and Fang Hong distinctly heard him use ’it’ instead of ’them’.

A possibility flickered in his mind—the other sought, could it be that Sorcerer-Ghoul he encountered before—indeed, apart from Undead Wizards and Corpse Sorcerers, probably only Sorcerer-Ghouls excel in Undead Necromancy.

But what does the Dragon Worship Sect want with a Sorcerer-Ghoul?

Fang Hong held his breath, sensing he had grasped something important.

Through the Clockwork Fairy’s vision, he watched the Dragon Worship Sect messenger shake his head: ”You certainly won’t stop it, but you don’t need to. Don’t you have that thing—’system’, isn’t that what you call it?”

The messenger’s gaze swept across each person in the snow: ”Pick a few people to go down, let them bring back information. You’re a team, right, in this situation shouldn’t some people sacrifice themselves for the sake of others in the team?”

He pointed to the young man with a cold smile: ”You make the choice, let some people go to their death, and others can live.”

The young man only paused for a moment, then stood tall: ”How can I trust you won’t go back on your word?”

Fang Hong’s Clockwork Fairy clearly saw this, while saying this sentence, the youth discreetly gestured behind his back. And the girl with the ID ’Rose’ presumably caught this gesture precisely.

But Fang Hong secretly thought this wasn’t good.

This young man evidently did not fully understand this Rank of Undead Wizard. Undead Wizards learn a skill called ’Spirit Eye’ around Level 20, which allows them to perceive everything happening around through undead.

This skill works within three to four kilometers but cannot penetrate walls or obstacles. In this broad snow, he should have seen the young man’s little actions, yet pretended to know nothing.

Fang Hong pulled up his Wind Goggles; previously, he had only been somewhat interested in the Troll named Mountain Kou Ke and the Undead Wizard Boss. But at this moment, Fang Hong truly got serious.

Because both the death of Atira’s brother and the enigmas left by the Dolifen Dragon’s Witch incident were undoubtedly related to the Dragon Worship Sect. And among the Dragon Worshipper active around Dolifen back then, at least this ’messenger’ should be a core member.

He also didn’t expect to encounter him here. But such a coincidental opportunity, Fang Hong certainly wouldn’t let it go easily.

He looked towards several waiting for his message in the tunnel, and said: ”So, have you decided? Are you planning to join me in doing something big?”

In the darkness, they exchanged glances.

After their previous combat, they completely believed Fang Hong was a Veteran Adventurer. But being a Veteran Adventurer doesn’t mean one can single-handedly take on a Level 25 Boss, not to mention they have little combat ability.

Apart from a Miss Natural Historian as an assistant, the other only had a cat.

The cat naturally has no combat ability, and although the career of Natural Historian is impressive, this young lady seemed too young and not very powerful at all.

Can a person truly handle a Lord Level Undead Wizard?

They were somewhat unconvinced about this point.

Little Fatty asked hesitantly: ”If possible, we’d certainly want to rescue the Captain and Sister Rose, but do you truly have a way to deal with that Undead Wizard?”
