Pillar of Yita

”Are you talking about the Continental League?” Su Changfeng suddenly realized.

Ambassador Liao nodded: ”The points matches for the Continental League have ended, and next there will be a performance match in the Southern Region. It just so happens that Stargate Port also has a spot—”

Su Changfeng frowned deeply: ”Doesn’t that mean I’ll just be a babysitter?”

”What babysitter, why do you talk so unpleasantly? We’re just asking you to recruit a batch of rookies, plus it’s already been decided. The Special Preparation Team members will assist you, and Captain Zhang Tianmiu will be transferred to this task force.”

Su Changfeng was stunned for a moment, then raised his head to ask ambiguously: ”Him? Isn’t he responsible for work ’over there’ anymore?” He thought, after all, the work ’over there’ was one of the top priorities for Stargate Port at the moment, and if not careful, they could all be dismissed.

”There’s no clue at the moment,” Ambassador Liao replied: ”This is also the opinion from above.”

Upon hearing this, Su Changfeng nodded.

”Alright, let’s discuss the specific details when I get there,” he finally asked: ”But regarding the affairs underground in Fenris, how do you plan to announce it to the outside?”

”Of course we will announce it truthfully.”

Su Changfeng was shocked: ”Truthfully?”

Ambassador Liao nodded: ”We haven’t discovered anything, so let’s tell them we haven’t grasped any information yet.”

Su Changfeng was taken aback for a moment, then couldn’t help but give a thumbs up to his old classmate—truly clever. They indeed hadn’t grasped any information, but those outsiders certainly wouldn’t believe it.

If they don’t believe it, let them make wild guesses.

By the time they guess the real answer, the actions on Stargate Port’s side would probably have reached a conclusion.

The two exchanged a glance, tacitly choosing not to speak further.

...

”Honestly... honestly, I never thought you’d still be alive...”

”You know, when your boy came looking for you, he was only as big as Agar; over a decade has passed in a blink, the latter has become the Captain of the Silverwind Knights, and your boy has become even more famous, already a Lord Earl—”

The light filtering through the blinds was a bit dim, falling on the room’s dust, leaving various widths of bright patterns on the desk. The room’s owner mumbled, tugging a cord to adjust the light.

The light fell on the faces of the two.

Sitting next to the Dwarf was a middle-aged man with deep facial contours, as if chiseled, with extremely thin lips and thick eyebrows and beard. Despite being a bit pale, it did not diminish his authority.

If Fang Hong were here, he would certainly recognize the man as the knight Diket he met once in Dolifen. But now, in different attire, he looked more like a Noble from the Kingdom, rather than a Marlan Paladin.

Moreover, the Dwarf called him by a name unfamiliar to Fang Hong—Steven.

As for the Dwarf.

Suffice it to say Fang Hong knew him too, and sometimes might even grit his teeth when mentioning his name.

The Dwarf was none other than Aquitez, a Grand Artificer from the Elpaxin Artisan Association, though in Fang Hong’s mind, this man was one of the culprits who completely tarnished the honest and simple image of Dwarves.

Of course, the latter had no such awareness.

In the face of the Dwarf’s ceaseless chatter, the knight remained unresponsive, as if well accustomed to it. In fact, this was true, for before his disappearance at the ruins of Dolifen, they had been friends for decades.

As a human, at this age he should have long been gray-haired, but due to some stroke of fate, he could appear before the Old Dwarf with a barely changed appearance from thirty years ago.

”You haven’t aged a bit.” The Old Dwarf couldn’t help but exclaim: ”There were such rumors twenty years ago, all the way until your disappearance, what exactly did you encounter thirty years ago in Dolifen?”

The knight shook his head, his expression relaxed, smiling: ”You know, I promised someone I wouldn’t reveal what exactly happened. Perhaps one day someone else will tell you the mystery afterwards.”

”You’re always like this,” Aquitez was quite dissatisfied, but remembering what he had to do, he had to suppress his displeasure. He looked at the knight: ”Are you really sure that’s that boy, that he will listen to me?”

”With your current attitude, Aquitez,” the knight laughed: ”I bet he definitely won’t heed you, my young friend has a very strong will.”

”I don’t think so, he’s just a fool.” Aquitez shook his head vigorously.

”Aquitez.”

”Alright, alright,” the Dwarf sighed, put down the quill, folded the letter paper on the desk with his thick short fingers, tucked it into an envelope, and sealed it with a wax imprint: ”I’m an old man, isn’t he supposed to respect me?”

”But as I know, you’ve swindled him plenty,” the knight replied: ”And besides, you are asking something from him now.”

”What do you mean I am asking something from him!?” The Dwarf jumped from his chair, glaring and puffing: ”I’m helping him, isn’t there any young man who doesn’t aspire for honor and fame?”

”That’s not certain,” the knight smiled: ”Aquitez, if you have this attitude, don’t expect me to deliver your letter.”

The expression on the Dwarf’s face was momentarily very dramatic, full of dissatisfaction and reluctance, yet also unwilling to give up, but eventually softened. After coordination with the Artisan Association, Ancient Tower side finally acknowledged their explanation; however, if they couldn’t find that person from back then, it would all come to nothing.

But the person had long disappeared, with the Continental League about to begin, where was he supposed to find such a person?

If not for the sudden visit of an old friend claiming to have seen that young man, he might have already been facing the Lord Chairman’s wrath with great trepidation.

”Alright,” the Old Dwarf finally decided to compromise: ”The contents of this letter, consider them a gift from me to him, yet thanks to his inspiration, I was able to complete this creation, gifting it to him is...isn’t a bad thing...”

The knight could completely sense his old friend’s reluctance, and couldn’t help but smile.

Aquitez glared at him: ”You must get it to him, before then, or I’ll be finished.”

”Rest assured, Rosetta won’t give you any trouble.”

”Damn!”

Only then did the knight put away the letter, gently pressing the coat pocket that held a heavy piece of metal fragment.

Light penetrated through the window into his gaze; if it weren’t for finding this piece from that Armor, even if his Old Dwarf friend was anxious, he wouldn’t have set out so easily.

After all, compared to that matter, the Continental League was actually nothing.
