Pillar of Yita

He saw the magic wand in the other hand, and the purple crystal on the staff head, and suddenly understood what this Skeleton was.

A Sorcerer-Ghoul.

Mortals find it difficult to withstand the erosion of magic power, which is why Magic Guided Engineering and various related professions were developed.

But in ancient times, there were some magicians who risked their lives to study the spells of fairies, elves, and dragons. They discovered a method that could allow their bodies to endure the power of Ether Magic, which was to abandon the frail human body and transform themselves into undead.

The school of Undead Wizards is probably one of the most peculiar in Eteliria of this era, and those who practice undead magic likely have one ultimate goal—to eventually transform themselves into a vampire or a sorcerer-ghoul like this skeleton in front of them.

These ancient magicians indeed gained magical abilities, even without the aid of Magic Guided Reactors and alchemy.

However, they also paid a price. Due to the undead body only being receptive to dark magic power, and being a collective of negative consciousness, after long exposure to dark magic power, most of them succumbed to madness, losing their original nature, becoming evil and cunning.

Most of them eventually became no different from monsters.

But some sorcerer-ghouls do exist in this world, some of which are quite ancient due to their immortality and indestructibility. Fang Hong wasn’t sure if the skeleton head in front of him was one of those old monsters, but he was at least sure of one thing—this was not something he could handle.

The threshold for transforming into a sorcerer-ghoul is having a Character Level of 40, and the power continues to increase after transformation. This means even a ’newcomer’ among sorcerer-ghouls has strength close to that of the Second World.

There is actually a sorcerer-ghoul here in this place.

If he had known there was a sorcerer-ghoul beneath this castle, Fang Hong wouldn’t have come here even if it killed him. Whether the other party wanted to detect or capture them was simply effortless.

Fang Hong wasn’t sure if the vampire he encountered before was under the control of the other party, but the other party definitely had the ability. Just look at that immobile Black Knight beside Gita to understand.

He was completely awake now and recalled what happened before he was knocked out. It was that Black Knight that left him and Gita helpless; even the Fire Giant, of which he was proud, was insignificant in front of the opponent.

However, something strange was that the other party didn’t kill him and Gita—he hadn’t heard of such a habit among sorcerer-ghouls—these undead creatures, although they used to be human, mostly became no different from monsters after transformation.

Undead naturally have a deep hatred for the living, and sorcerer-ghouls are no different. They possess the intelligence of humans from their past life, which makes them even more dangerous. Wherever a sorcerer-ghoul appears in any region, it is a matter of urgency to deploy armies to eliminate them.

Otherwise, a small scale undead calamity could easily ensue.

About fifty years ago in the Osh Empire, a sorcerer-ghoul from the time of Aithelin, along with its undead army, swept through half a province of the Empire, nearly causing a catastrophe.

Afterwards, countries began to pay more attention to these undead creatures.

Just as Fang Hong was turning these thoughts over in his mind, the ’skeleton head’ suddenly spoke: ”Who are you?”

Who am I?

Fang Hong thought the question was quite philosophical. But what puzzled him more was, why would a sorcerer-ghoul care about his identity? Just like when you’re about to crush an ant, would you ask what the ant’s name is?

Honestly speaking, with all the weirdness around this place, having one more strange sorcerer-ghoul didn’t seem to make much of a difference.

Not to mention the strange shadows before, even the altar and that Dragon Slaying Sword were equally strange. The first of the five Dragon Slaying Swords forged by fairies, Moa the Dragon Slayer, had long been recorded missing, yet it was broken here, impaling a skeleton’s chest.

It’s truly suspicious what actually happened beneath Aimumu Fortress back then.

Fang Hong tried to move his limbs but couldn’t. The system indicated he was in a state of paralysis, which must have been the work of the sorcerer-ghoul; they have all kinds of undead spells to achieve such effects.

Then he saw the reason for his survival in the system—within the combat log, there was an effect activated called ’Talk of the Stars of Ka Cuilan,’ and Foresee Death had saved him from a disaster.

Though now it seemed not much different whether he had escaped it or not.

The ’skeleton head’ pointed its bony finger joint at him, and its voice suddenly became sharp. ”Don’t think that by not speaking, I won’t know.”

”You reek of those Lizardmen, they have some mysterious powers, so seeing death isn’t something out of the ordinary for you.”

It put its hands behind its back and turned in two circles on the spot, which seemed to be a habit left over from its past life.

The ’skeleton head’ then fixed Fang Hong with a blood-red gaze filled with malice. ”Human, how did you get into this place?”

Fang Hong, noticing some details about the sorcerer-ghoul, suddenly realized that the other party might have only recently transformed into a sorcerer-ghoul, still holding onto some of its past life habits. Of course, he wasn’t content to just wait for death, turning his mind to thoughts of how to escape with Gita, and answered:

”I obviously came in from there, how else would I get in?”

”Don’t lie to me.” The ’skeleton head’ cackled with a smile. ”Without the bloodline of the Rogsel Family, how could you enter this place? Who are you, human?”
