From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Although it’s just a glass of water, in this particularly unique location, the price of water is actually several times that of alcohol.

Soon, the waiter came over with a tray, gently placing the glass of water in front of the visitor, then quietly withdrew.

This village is very close to a certain unit stationed by the Human Alliance, and most of the regular customers are Alliance Warriors. Currently, among the ten or so scattered patrons in the bar, only one is an indigenous person from Tatazaya Planet.

Raising the glass to drink, the clear liquid slid down the throat, like parched land finally receiving sweet rain, slightly awakening an otherwise exhausted spirit. After setting down the glass, the person opened their smart device, doodled and jotted down notes in their personal file, with their brows furrowed all the while. It took a long time before they finally closed the smart device.

The internet signal here is very precious, and the cost of going online is not something an average person can afford.

”Esteemed guest, would you like video service?” The waiter noticed the person’s poor mood and, although reluctant to disturb, had to muster the courage for a business pitch, ”There’s a half-off discount on the internet at this time.”

The so-called video service is actually the hotel broadcasting exciting videos from the Mecha Fighting Arena. This is a very cost-effective option for many combat enthusiasts who can’t afford the internet fees to watch mecha battles on the virtual network!

The person was momentarily stunned, seeing the pure-eyed Tatazaya girl looking at them. Perhaps having stayed here for a while, they didn’t find her appearance unattractive, but rather, her temperament was pure... letting out a soft chuckle inside, she was indeed a very innocent girl.

”Sure, what matches are on today?” After a throat-soothing drink of water, the person’s voice was no longer hoarse but rather had a crisp and gentle tone, somewhat like a woman’s. The Tatazaya girl blushed deeper upon hearing it.

To boost business, bars broadcast chaotic or solo battles from the Mecha Fighting Arena homepage, which have technically brilliant and exciting fight scenes. Otherwise, it would be hard to attract returning customers. Meanwhile, the Mecha Fighting Arena supports impoverished planets by making videos readily available, allowing them to download with a special account for just a little fee.

The waiter’s eyes shone with delight; although the Credit Points earned from video watching weren’t much, due to the support policy, it was almost a case of reaping without sowing, with a high profit margin. More importantly, for each video customer she secured, she’d receive a Credit Point commission, which was very significant given her not-so-well-off background.

Opening today’s video list, the person could freely choose from the virtual screen. After a brief search, they picked a highlighted chaotic battle video; the reason for choosing this video was simple, as the participating teams were quite intriguing.

The match was between two teams. One team named ”Glory Sanctuary,” this chaotic battle team is quite famous in the chaotic fighting zone, and all its members are students from Augustus Academy. Their combat power might not be outrageously strong, but their captain is a very talented Commander, with limitless future prospects. Many seasoned mercenary teams end up defeated when facing them.

The other team... uh, how should I put this, the name is indeed quite distinctive... the person smirked, seemingly suppressing a laugh.

”Rip Those Tender Little Daisies, Oh Little Daisies,” ahem, it’s truly perplexing how a leader could have so little integrity to come up with such a ridiculous name. It’s admirable that the guys from Glory Sanctuary had the audacity to fight against such a team.

The person didn’t opt to watch from the video start but instead paid double the price for the live version. Because they discovered that the formidable Glory Sanctuary was actually being forced into heavy casualties by the enemy, with even their base being infiltrated... truly interesting.

Activating the video, they locked the perspective onto the base, leisurely leaning back against the sofa... even at this moment, they didn’t remove the item from their waist. Little did this person expect that upon starting the video, they’d witness such an explosive scene.

”This mecha... seems to be the Ghost Shadow?” the person muttered softly, a flicker of surprise flashing in their deep eyes.

On the video, the Ghost Shadow’s mecha exhibited its overwhelming speed advantage once again, the muzzle of the black hole aimed at the enemy mecha’s core engine area, with two sharp Short Daggers in the mechanical arm blocking the opponent’s retreat. Not only that, but other retreat paths were also equipped with energy disintegration devices... truly a despicable and cunning fighting style.

Attacking multiple areas simultaneously, the enemy couldn’t determine which area to target, making it difficult to choose.

However... a smile crept on the person’s lips, in the face of a blocked retreat and difficult choices, one might as well abandon the retreat plan and directly confront the challenge. Suffering mutual destruction is better than falling into the opponent’s trap...

Then, amidst the exclamations from numerous viewers, not only did the opponent’s mecha not retreat, but it also executed a surprise move, suddenly revealing a strangely shaped spear-like object at such close range, directly piercing through Ghost Shadow’s energy engine, and moreover... the cockpit was precisely in this direction...

And Ghost Shadow hadn’t anticipated this situation, its massive form failing to stop, unleashing one last effort.

”Getting so close to Ghost Shadow is indeed asking for death...” the person murmured once again, as if in response to their words, the Ghost Shadow’s mechanical arm plunged into the body of the opponent’s mecha with a pop sound, this section being likely where the energy source resides.

Alas, although Ghost Shadow incapacitated the enemy mecha, its own cockpit was also destroyed... and apparently, the mecha’s pilot was the captain, right? This was a duel of kings; with the captain’s death, the match was over as well.

The person felt quite regretful, having just started watching and the match was already over; what a waste of Credit Points.

However... it seems the host hasn’t announced the match result yet...(To be continued. If you like this work, you’re welcome to give recommendations and monthly votes on Qidian (qidian.com). Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
