I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

Chapter 389: Chapter 255: The Climber Before the Grim Reaper (2)

But in her heart, Shen Yu was absolutely thrilled.

It wasn’t because of the praise from Jiang He’s parents.

It was because this visit had gone so incredibly smoothly.

’It’s just as I expected. The family that raised an outstanding man like Dr. Jiang must be a truly wonderful family~’

The car soon arrived at the apartment building.

After Su Zhi helped get the luggage out of the car, she made an excuse and left to report back to the provincial department.

The family of four carried their luggage upstairs.

After they had tidied up a bit,

the four of them sat down at the dining table. Chen Jingyu spoke up.

”Jiang He, your father and I won’t go to that awards banquet of yours tonight. If we went, it would just make everyone feel constrained.”

Jiang He nodded. ”Okay. In that case, I’ll come back early to be with you after the banquet ends.”

Jiang Hui took a sip of tea, his gaze shifting between Jiang He and Shen Yu. Unable to forget his mission to ”move things along,” he said, ”So, Xiaoshen, what do you think? Maybe during the New Year, we could find a chance for our two sets of parents to meet? We don’t have to discuss anything specific, just have a meal and get to know each other.”

The moment he said this, Shen Yu suddenly burst out laughing.

Jiang Hui, Jiang He, and Chen Jingyu all looked at her, confused.

Jiang He asked, ”What’s wrong? What’s so funny?”

Shen Yu shook her head, suppressing her laughter. ”Nothing, I just... suddenly thought of my dad.”

She composed herself and explained, ”Sir, Ma’am, you don’t know this, but my dad is a very traditional man. From a young age, he always stressed to me that a college student’s job is to study hard. He was adamant that I should never date during college, saying it was a distraction and a neglect of my duties.”

Jiang Hui slammed his hand on the table in approval. ”Exactly! That’s how it should be! Your father is absolutely right. A student’s main job is to study.”

Old Deng spoke with righteous conviction, but inwardly, he was blooming with joy.

Shen Yu’s words indirectly proved that she had always been a good girl and had never dated before.

’What did my foolish son do to deserve this? He managed to snatch up such an outstanding prize on his first try?’

’Ah, this is perfect! Just perfect!’

Shen Yu gave a mischievous chuckle and continued, ”And my dad is a long-time Party member with a very strong sense of collective honor. Whenever he watches the news, if there’s anything about China’s scientific and technological progress, he gets so excited he can’t sleep for half the night.”

”So, I was just thinking... what would his reaction be if he found out that the Jiang He who brought honor to our country is actually my boyfriend? I can’t help but laugh just imagining it.”

Jiang He also recalled from his past life that Shen Yu’s father really was like that.

The stubborn old man had been completely against it when he first found out Shen Yu was dating...

He only gradually came to approve after getting to know Jiang He over time.

’But what about this time around?’

’This could actually be pretty interesting.’

Jiang He was feeling mischievous.

He suddenly said, ”Teacher Shen, I’ll tell you what to do. For a while, just build it up like crazy with your dad. Talk about all the big international news lately, talk about how amazing our medical project is.”

”Once your dad knows all about me, you can take me to meet him and, at the very end, go: Ta-da! This is my boyfriend! What do you think?”

Shen Yu nodded. ”That’s a great idea! I’m going to save it for a big reveal.”

Chen Jingyu’s heart was pounding with excitement, her inner gossip aflame. ”Oh, Xiaoshen, when you make that call, can you put it on speakerphone? I want to hear your dad’s reaction too! This is going to be so much fun!”

The four of them gathered around the dining table, launching into a bustling discussion about how to ”set up” Shen Yu’s dad.

Even Shen Yu herself got carried away with the conversation, and bursts of laughter frequently erupted from the living room.

「Meanwhile, in a middle school in a remote mountainous area.」

Shen Yu’s father suddenly sneezed.

”?”

He frowned, thinking, ’Why do I keep feeling a bit uneasy lately? My chest feels all tight.’

In today’s lingo: My vibes are off~

...

「Yangcheng.」

A little after four in the afternoon, Jiang Hui and Chen Jingyu left.

They adamantly refused to attend the celebration banquet that evening, saying only that they wanted to wander around Yangcheng and that Jiang He and Shen Yu should go about their business.

After seeing his parents off,

Jiang He turned and wrapped his arm around Shen Yu’s waist. ”Shall we?”

Shen Yu’s cheeks flushed slightly. She pulled a hair tie from her wrist, gathered her long hair into a ponytail, and gave a soft hum. ”Let’s~”

Afterward.

Jiang He held Shen Yu, who was still breathing lightly, and asked softly, ”When are you planning to go back to the Capital City?”

Shen Yu shot him a look. ”What, are you that eager for me to leave?”

Jiang He gave her a kiss. ”It’s not that I want you to leave. It’s that I want you to never leave.”

Shen Yu huffed, then sighed. ”But I have to go back. I’ve fallen behind on a lot of classes at school. I’ll probably have to leave tomorrow or the day after.”

”Alright.”

Jiang He suddenly lowered his head, his eyes fixed on Shen Yu’s lips. He said:

”But speaking of which, Teacher Shen, we’re about to meet each other’s parents. Don’t you think our relationship could... take another step forward?”

Of course, Shen Yu knew what this boy was thinking.

She covered Jiang He’s mouth and said hurriedly, ”Next time, definitely next time! Now hurry up and get ready, we’re going to be late for the celebration banquet!”

...

「Early evening.」

Just as Jiang He reached the entrance of the restaurant, he was pulled aside by Yang Xu, who was waiting outside.

Yang Xu and Jiang He first exchanged a round of mutual compliments.

Then he shared an update on his progress with Wang Xiaoqing.

Finally, he said, ”Jiang He, let me introduce you to someone.”

”Who?”

”Come with me.”

He pushed open a door at the end of the hallway.

A man was sitting on the sofa.

His hair was graying, and he looked to be at least fifty years old.

Yang Xu introduced him in a low voice, ”This is Professor Kang An, the former chief researcher of the Institute of Materia Medica and the State Key Laboratory at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.”
