I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

Chapter 388: Chapter 255: The Climber Before the Grim Reaper

Of course, Su Zhi, the three old professors, and Wen Xuyang had also flown back on the same plane.

They had just tactfully waited to be the last ones out so they wouldn’t steal Jiang He’s thunder.

’The old professors are just... So sweet I could die.’

Lin Zhenhua beamed as he went up to greet them.

”Professors, it must have been a long journey! This trip to the United States was a resounding success for us—we really showed them!”

Zhou Deming looked miserable. ”Minister Lin, I... I really... Sigh...”

Guo Fengwan was also emotional, but he quickly changed the subject. ”Minister, we had another gain from this trip that you don’t know about yet!”

Lin Zhenhua paused. ”Oh? What’s that?”

Fu Yunshu chimed in, ”It’s a card game Jiang He taught us called Guandan! Minister Lin, it’s way more fun than mahjong. It’s all about teamwork and strategy. It’s simply sublime!”

Guo Fengwan added, ”That’s right! We were stuck in our hotel in Baltimore, and it was the only thing that kept us sane. Minister Lin, when we get back to the department, we’ll have to teach you!”

The antics of these three old rascals made Lin Zhenhua roar with laughter. ”Sounds good! Anything taught by Jiang He is bound to be worthwhile. Who knows, maybe playing cards helps sharpen the mind and improve your medical skills!”

Zhou Deming nodded emphatically. ”That’s right, that’s right.”

Everyone burst into laughter.

A chorus of praise and admiration filled the tarmac, creating a warm and cheerful atmosphere.

After the pleasantries were exchanged, everyone headed to their cars.

Su Zhi was driving Jiang He and his family.

Jiang Hui sat in the front passenger seat, while Jiang He, Shen Yu, and Chen Jingyu sat in the back.

The ride started off smoothly.

In reality, Shen Yu was a nervous wreck, her toes curling in her shoes.

The problem was, it looked like they were heading straight to his home.

Wouldn’t this basically announce to Jiang He’s parents that they were living together?

’Would Jiang He’s parents think it’s improper for unmarried university students to live together off-campus?’

She started to panic, subtly tugging on the corner of Jiang He’s shirt. Her eyes pleaded with him: ’Save me, save me, save me.’

It was like being knocked down in a video game, crawling on the ground waiting for a teammate to revive you...

Jiang He received her distress signal.

He immediately said, ”Dad, Mom, Shen Yu was actually just visiting Southern China for a bit. It just so happened that I’ve been busy, and the hotels around here are expensive, so I let her stay at my place for a couple of days. She’s also been helping me organize some of my papers.”

In reality, the explanation was completely unnecessary.

Chen Jingyu took Shen Yu’s hand, her face full of affection. ”That’s exactly right. How could a hotel be as clean or safe as our own home? You just make yourself comfortable at Jiang He’s place. Make sure he takes good care of you. If he dares to give you any trouble, you call me anytime. I won’t let him get away with it!”

From the front seat, Jiang Hui turned around and beamed at Shen Yu. ”Exactly! Why would one of our own stay in a hotel? Xiaoshen, your uncle and I aren’t that old-fashioned. Besides, we saw the news!”

Shen Yu froze for a second.

’What news?’

Jiang Hui gave her a thumbs-up. ”At that press conference, the way you handled that hostile foreign reporter was amazing! ’The dignity of choice’—you explained it so perfectly! When your aunt saw it, she was moved to tears.”

Chen Jingyu shot her husband a look, but her eyes were full of delight as she turned back to Shen Yu. ”He’s right, Xiaoshen. We’re just a simple old couple and haven’t seen much of the world, but we can tell you’re a good girl with wisdom and courage. Our Jiang He is completely devoted to medicine. As his parents, knowing you’re by his side gives us complete peace of mind.”

Jiang He’s parents were very pleased with her.

It wasn’t just that Teacher Shen was beautiful, well-behaved, sensible, gentle, kind, and polite, which already made for a perfect first impression.

The most important factor was that they had seen the video of the press conference.

They had quickly decided that a girl who could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their son on an international stage was the right partner to be with him for life.

After that, his parents began to shower Shen Yu with questions, showing their concern for her.

Chen Jingyu asked about every little detail. ”Xiaoshen, is your schoolwork tiring? What do you like to eat? Does that boy of ours, Jiang He, even know how to cook?”

Shen Yu answered each question dutifully.

Compared to his mother’s tactful approach, Jiang Hui was much more direct.

He suddenly blurted out, ”Since your relationship is so serious, when are you planning to hold the wedding banquet? Have you set a date? Should I start looking at some auspicious dates for you?”

Chen Jingyu gave Jiang Hui a light punch. ”What’s the rush? Xiaoshen is still in school! Don’t scare the poor girl!”

Jiang Hui rubbed his shoulder and muttered defensively, ”I’m just planning ahead. The sooner it’s settled, the sooner we can rest easy.”

In reality, while his dad acted wronged, everything was going according to his plan.

’Now *that’s* how you help your son move things along.’

Then, Jiang Hui changed the subject again, asking with concern, ”By the way, Xiaoshen, are your parents in good health? Where do they work?”

Shen Yu answered softly, ”My dad’s a volunteer teacher in a mountainous region, and my mom works for the local neighborhood committee.”

”A volunteer teacher?”

Jiang Hui’s expression filled with respect. ”That’s incredible! It takes someone with real heart to put down roots in the mountains and dedicate themselves to education. And your mom serving the community at the grassroots level—that’s real, hard work too. No wonder... no wonder they raised such an outstanding daughter.”

Chen Jingyu also nodded along. ”Yes, children from families like that are the most grounded.”

Shen Yu, embarrassed by the praise, waved her hands dismissively. ”Oh no, not at all. You’re giving me too much credit, Uncle and Auntie.”
