I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

The session chair was also a bit taken aback. He was about to speak up and remind Jiang He to mind the procedure and the time limit.

But Jiang He gave him no opportunity to intervene.

”Dr. Hayes, your question about the multivariate adjustment not considering the weighting of the Child-Pugh score is, frankly, a fundamental mistake. On slide seven, Professor Wen’s presentation of the inclusion criteria clearly states the use of the MELD score—the Model for End-Stage Liver Disease—as a substitute baseline. In assessing true hepatic functional reserve, the MELD score is at least 30% more precise than the crude Child-Pugh classification. If you had kept up with the latest updates in contemporary liver disease assessment systems, you wouldn’t mistake such a rigorous covariate adjustment for a default control.”

Dr. Hayes was flabbergasted.

Jiang He turned to Carter.

”Dr. Carter, regarding the issue of setting the 16S rRNA sequencing homology threshold at 97% instead of 99%... The *Gastroenterology* consensus you cited studied bacterial endotoxin translocation concurrent with alcoholic cirrhosis. However, Ruijin Hospital’s model targets the specific gut flora related to the ammonia metabolism pathway in hepatic encephalopathy. Within that pathway, a 97% genus-level clustering is sufficient to cover the core functional strains. The point of sequencing depth is to precisely capture the target. The Johns Hopkins lab may be wealthy, but that doesn’t mean your approach to bioinformatics data denoising is ahead of the curve.”

A dead silence fell over the hall.

Several cameras in the back row zoomed in, focusing on Jiang He’s face.

Carter shot to his feet, retorting urgently, ”You’re just muddying the waters! The ammonia metabolism pathway…”

”Please allow me to finish, Dr. Carter.”

Jiang He cut him off directly. ”Because my next explanation is intended to address your questions about the data’s statistical power.”

Let’s not forget.

Who was it that helped Wen Xuyang with this project?

—It was Zhiyu.

Project progress was shared in the group chat every day, and Jiang He had personally given his input at many key junctures.

So, compared to Wen Xuyang, he was more familiar with all the details and knew exactly how to answer these questions.

”Regarding the 5% loss to follow-up during the lactulose washout period, we used a dual validation of both intention-to-treat and per-protocol analyses. The p-value was less than 0.001 under both validations.”

”As for regional specificity, the basal colonization rate of Bifidobacterium in the intestines of Asian populations is inherently higher than in European and American populations. This is a fact based on a recently published paper in *Nature* on the gut microbiome diversity in Asians, not some excuse.”

”…”

Jiang He stood there, his tone calm as the words flowed endlessly from him.

A one-man army!

If anyone else tried to ask a question, he would shut them down in a second, leaving them speechless and forcing them to sit back down in disgrace.

This was a masterclass in using superior professional knowledge to utterly dominate an opponent.

Behold!

After Jiang He finished his last sentence,

the entire lecture hall fell into an absolute silence that lasted for a full thirty seconds.

The Q&A session had long since gone over time.

So what?

He’d meet whatever they threw at him.

Jiang He said coolly, ”Are there any more questions? Raise your hand and speak.”

No one responded.

Gradually…

Applause broke out.

Shen Yu started it, and she clapped incredibly loudly!

Spurred on by her, the applause grew louder and more intense.

In the end, even Professor Miller, feeling the pressure of the situation, offered two symbolic claps.

Amidst the applause, Wen Xuyang’s eyes had turned red without him realizing it.

As for Zhou Deming and the other two senior professors, they stood with their backs ramrod straight, beaming with pride!

’This is what you call goddamn national pride!’

’Goddamn, this feels so good!’

Jiang He, one hand in his pocket and his expression impassive, gestured for Su Zhi to play the PowerPoint.

Su Zhi froze for a moment, then quickly stopped clapping and got to work.

The image on the screen changed, revealing the all-English title of the early prediction model for SAP.

Jiang He said calmly,

”Regarding the misunderstandings about Ruijin Hospital’s data, I believe I have made things clear.”

”Now, let’s talk about my SAP project.”

”And while we’re at it, let’s also discuss how Professor Miller of Johns Hopkins University used his reviewer privileges in an attempt to plagiarize this paper.”
