Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1751: Chapter 556: Diverting Water and Cutting Off Roads, Late Realization (Part 2)

According to Chen Ping’s observation, the water channel on the west side is still a kilometer short of being dug, and the water level in East Mountain Lake is temporarily not high enough. The key point is he just came from the entrance of the valley, and the wide ditch on the periphery of the valley entrance is also somewhat incomplete.

The current situation is that everything is slightly lacking, yet time has run out.

The Xianyang Level scouts of Cai Qiu’s army have long arrived, they are watching from above. Although they disguised the work when started, how long can they keep it hidden?

Once Cai Qiu sees through their intentions, they can be easily countered.

In fact, Cai Qiu only needs to slightly increase the speed of the march at this moment to render all their previous efforts useless.

Therefore, Chen Ping is so anxious right now that he couldn’t help but ask Xiang Liang, worrying that the big fire he set at the valley entrance might not be effective.

The barricade and fire within the valley entrance were Xiang Liang’s ideas. He didn’t intend to rely on these things to stop Cai Qiu’s army; the core purpose was to buy time for their peripheral fortifications.

However, Xiang Liang was evidently not as worried. Upon hearing the words, a smile appeared in his eyes, and he shook his head and said softly: “Before the battle at the southern exit, it certainly wouldn’t work, but at this critical moment, it’s different!”

Although Chen Ping is straightforward in nature, he’s not stupid. After thinking for a moment, he immediately understood.

“The lord means that Cai Qiu’s army was newly defeated, their morale is low, and they are sure to be suspicious. Seeing that fire, they’ll hesitate to move forward?”

“It’s not quite that!”

Xiang Liang smiled and continued: “You were right in your previous statement, Cai Qiu’s army was newly defeated, and with a hundred thousand Xia Army rapidly chasing behind them, they are sure to be panic-stricken and suspicious. Even though they know our rebel army’s strength is weak, they wouldn’t rashly advance but act cautiously…”

At this, he paused before continuing with a smile: “Of course, no matter how cautious they are, their primary concern is still the hundred thousand Xia Army behind them, so breaking out of the valley is their first priority. Therefore, hesitation isn’t possible. The greatest possibility is slowing down their march speed, dispatching an elite force forward to scout. If that’s the case…”

“Then our strategy is successful!”

Saying this, Chen Ping completely understood.

Last night, when Xiao Hen reported that the Xia Army was accelerating their pursuit from behind, they were only twenty kilometers away at most. They don’t need to delay too long, as long as they prevent Cai Qiu’s army from completely exiting the valley before the Xia Army arrives.

If Cai Qiu’s army does not quickly exit the valley and instead sends elites to scout, it means they are currently in a state of extreme vigilance. In this way, even if our constructed defensive fortifications are not fully complete, they can stall them momentarily.

Thinking of this, Chen Ping suddenly showed a hint of admiration on his face and said to Xiang Liang with a tone full of respect: “So, the lord never intended to complete so many defensive works from the beginning, just to scare Cai Qiu’s army into confusion?”

Xiang Liang nodded slightly, a flash of excitement in his eyes.

As it turns out, this is his first time commanding tens of thousands of troops in action, and the opponent is a fifteen-thousand army from a Feudal Town. Xiang Liang’s heart naturally couldn’t help but be excited.

Of course, the grand scale is one reason, but more importantly, he was sent to Evergreen Valley by Yuwen Sizheng to act as a Hidden Guard to achieve meritorious deeds. If he truly manages to keep Cai Qiu’s fifteen thousand troops here, his achievement would be monumental.

It’s no exaggeration to say that this would be more significant than slaying several hundred Cold Resistance Level soldiers of Cai Qiu’s on the battlefield. Everything depends on whether Cai Qiu’s leading officer acts as he imagines.

“Continue urging the laborers to speed up. We’re just short of the final bit. Once the ditch is dug out, directly lead the water over. I’ll head back to the valley entrance; you oversee this side personally and make sure nothing goes wrong.”

“Understood!”

Chen Ping quickly bowed and accepted the order, watching as Xiang Liang and several others hurriedly moved towards the west side. He also steadied his mind slightly and turned around to urge the laborers.

“Just a few hundred meters left, brothers speed up! If we can make it through tonight, Evergreen Valley will be full of good days ahead!”

“Speed up, speed up! The water level is still not enough; don’t go too far into the middle; be careful of the cold beasts at the bottom, breaking the ice is sufficient…”

………

Bone-Eroding Path, North Exit

Cai Qiuhu used approximately a quarter of an hour to clear all the roadblocks in the three-kilometer area within the valley entrance, then led dozens of Xianyang Level and five thousand elite troops to the exit location.

He and other Xianyang Level were in a Sky Control state, hovering approximately a hundred meters above the ground. Seeing that five thousand elite troops were already close to the valley entrance and the main army was less than two kilometers behind, everyone showed some relaxation on their faces.

Cai Qiuhu himself, who had been tense throughout, also relaxed considerably.

“Is the rear army all arranged well?”

At the front, Zhu Fang finished clearing the last fire barrier area. Cai Qiuhu, upon seeing the fire barrier gradually dissipating, immediately turned around to consult with the nearest commander.

The commander quickly nodded and cupped his hands: “Everything is arranged. The front army brothers all have large stones at hand. Once Lord Zhu blows away the fire, we will immediately use large stones to bury it, so that the rebel army’s dug channel serves no purpose!”

Cai Qiuhu’s expression improved significantly upon hearing this.

The rebel army is digging a ditch around the valley entrance; the ditch is filled with a large amount of dry trees, dead branches, and coal stones. Apparently, they intend to replicate the large fire from the inner perimeter, attempting to use flames to obstruct the army’s advance.
