Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1631: Chapter 514: Return and War Machines, Resolution_2

With these two preparations, Yang Zhun found it really difficult to kill Xia Chuan at that moment, which is why he didn’t immediately turn around, but instead used his left eye to shoot out a Shattering Divine Light to help Xia Chuan break free.

Yang Zhun had hidden for so long, only to seize such a chance for an ambush. That failure left further opportunities barren, as post the Baimu City battle, Yang Zhun’s strength was far from sufficient to turn the tide.

“Oh, you thought only of Yang Zhun? What if last night Chen Cang had sent a Tribulation Body Realm expert, what would you have done?”

Big brother must be testing me!

Xia Chuan smiled knowingly, confidently saying, “Big brother, you already know the answer. According to the intelligence Jiang Xinfan gathered in Chen Cang, even though Tribulation Body Realm strength is formidable, they avoid crowded places and refrain from acting rashly in public. Not to mention if Chen Cang is willing to send a Tribulation Body Realm, even if they did, their actions would be extremely limited. I just don’t believe that a mere Baimu City is worth squandering such an opportunity.”

Indeed, Jiang Xinfan has infiltrated Chen Cang for over half a year. Great Xia’s understanding of the feudal territories and Tribulation Body Realm experts is not as blank as before.

Strategize before acting; almost all possible scenarios were accounted for. It seems, in these three years, my younger brother has not only increased his cultivation but has also become more mature and steady.

While Xia Hong was satisfied in his heart, he showed no sign of it on his face, only turned to look at Beishuo Town with a hint of a cold smile: “For the time being, Chen Cang can’t send anyone. The messenger they sent back was intercepted by me in Jiuqu Blood Corridor!”

Upon suddenly hearing this news, Xia Chuan and Xu Ning were stunned, then their pupils filled with joy and excitement.

“No wonder, no wonder Cai Qiu sent so many Xianyang Level, yet Chen Cang sent none. It turns out the messenger was intercepted by the Lord…”

“Yang Zhun’s relationship with Chen Cang is too close. Cai Qiu has no chance of roping him in, so they can’t possibly send anyone to help him defend the city. This way, attacking Beishuo will come with no pressure!”

Xia Chuan picked up where Xu Ning left off, his expression extremely excited, looking up at Xia Hong continued, “Big brother, the casualties from last night’s attack on Baimu City have been tallied. Overall, the reduction in numbers is less than five percent. Now it’s almost midnight, they should be ready to march, and at most in three hours, they’ll arrive here…”

The battle at Baimu City began on the daytime of the 29th and lasted about two hours, just after it finished, it was already dark.

According to big brother’s previous instructions, the army was to rest in Baimu City for half the night, and then set out southward at midnight, surrounding Beishuo Town.

Xia Chuan and Xu Ning had settled everything in Baimu City before coming here to Beishuo Town to meet Xia Hong.

Beishuo Town is located right at the intersection of the Bai Mu, Kuling, and He Valley regions, southeast of Baimu City, approximately ninety kilometers away. Although the speed of a marching force of 40,000 isn’t that fast, three hours should suffice.

“Just right, they’ll arrive before dawn…”

Xia Hong pondered for a moment, staring at Beishuo Town, his pupils filled with thought and eagerness.

It goes without saying, now is the best time to attack Beishuo Town!

To officially attack Beishuo Town, it has to be at dawn, there’s no question there. After all, in those two hours of daylight, the entire town’s Earth-digging Realm can be paralyzed, and several thousand soldiers can take their place immediately.

When the 40,000 Xia Army arrives here, there’s more than an hour before dawn. This period is perfect for resting so that they can assault the city around daybreak; the timing is just right.

Moreover, knowing that Beishuo has no reinforcements coming, and Cai Qiu is almost certainly not sending aid, the critical point is that Yang Zhun is still in a severely wounded state. There’s a saying, “Strike while the iron is hot,” and now, their ranks are at their weakest.

“About how many defenders are there in Beishuo City?”

Feeling the stirrings of emotion, Xia Hong first calmed himself, then turned to Xia Chuan, asking about Beishuo City’s specific situation.

With confidence, Xia Chuan answered, “In the past two years, Beishuo has not developed slowly. The entire town has a Cold Resistance Level of 70,000, including 20,000 Beishuo Army. However…”

He paused slightly, a faint smile on his face, then continued, “From the start of this battle, Beishuo made a miscalculation. In Bai Mu, Zhongyang, Jingxi, and He Valley, they dispatched 5,000 regular Defensive Army at each camp, totaling 20,000.”

In the battle of Baimu City, Beishuo deployed 25,000, including 10,000 elite Beishuo Army and 10,000 Defensive Army dispatched from the town. This adds up to another 20,000.

So right now, in their town, at most there’s only 30,000 defenders, including 10,000 elite Beishuo Army, the rest are ordinary Defensive Army…

“No, it should be 35,000!”

Xia Hong interrupted Xia Chuan, continuing, “Before you two arrived, there were 5,000 soldiers clad in Thousand Forged Iron Armor who came in from the east, likely the 5,000 defenders from the He Valley region.”

He Valley is just east of the town. Yang Zhun fled back from Baimu City in haste, surely first notifying those defenders to return to town;

Zhongyang is too far, plus there’s Mu Longhe’s forces watching; and the 5,000 defenders in Jingxi have already rebelled with Gu Tianxiong and his brothers, so they can’t be counted on.

Counting the losses in Baimu, Beishuo now has usable Cold Resistance Level forces amounting to exactly 35,000.

“Big brother, I forgot to tell you, Mu Longhe has already captured Zhongyang, and his troops have not suffered much. They’re heading towards us, estimated to arrive quicker than the 40,000 from Baimu City. Once they get here, we’ll have an army of 50,000.”

50,000 strong, attacking Beishuo Town defended by 35,000…

The eagerness in Xia Hong’s eyes intensified, caring not for how Mu Longhe captured the Zhongyang Camp, but staring at the southern wall of Beishuo City, torn by inner conflict.

5 to 3.5, typically, a direct assault on an entrenched position is impossible.

But this is Cold Abyss, normal rules do not apply, especially with him here representing Great Xia; facing Yang Zhun who’s seriously injured.

The Xia Army just triumphed grandly at Baimu City, at their peak morale. Conversely, Beishuo is plagued by rebellion in Jingxi, a gravely wounded Lord, army chief Yang Jian, town guard Yang Fa, and the death of the other five Xianyang Level. They’ve lost 25,000 troops, on top of losing Zhongyang. Inside those walls, the defenders must be in sheer panic and helplessness now.

With such a shift in balance, can this opportunity really be missed?

“Xu Ning, go notify the two armies of Baimu City and Mu Longhe to hasten their pace, speeding up to come here. If possible, arrive within the two hours before dawn to start the assault!”

Xia Hong decisively made the call; such a good opportunity must not be missed.

Across the Northern Land battlefield, the most important piece now is Beishuo Town. Once this town is captured, Wuchuan, Jin Mountain, and Yangqu besieged by Yuan Cheng’s rear forces; all Three Towns’ thoughts should shift.

And there’s Yang Zhun too!

With him watching closely, Yang Zhun will surely not escape.

“At your command!”

Xu Ning bowed, immediately turning towards the direction of Baimu City taking flight.

Watching Xu Ning leave, Xia Hong pondered a moment, his pupils flashed with cold light, then turned to Xia Chuan, “Go back to Xia City, fetch me something at top speed…”

“Got it, big brother, I’ll head back now!”

Upon hearing, Xia Chuan was visibly moved, nodding in agreement, then turned to leave.

“Yang Zhun wants to survive; only a single possibility remains. I must obliterate that sole possibility, can’t leave such a huge latent threat to myself…”

Regardless of Yang Zhun’s hidden strength, his unscrupulous methods are clear. Once you cross someone like him, you’d best extinguish the threat early or it will cause endless problems.

Thinking of how his young son Xia Yusheng was almost abducted by Yang Jian’s men, Xia Hong kept his eyes on Beishuo Town, his intentions for murder growing ever stronger.
