Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1559: Chapter 489: On Guard, Unruly Warriors (Part 3)

“Let’s go! We’ll see soon. Lu Dong, Luo An, Zou Ping, Zhao Yuankong, all of them usually have their noses in the air. Today, with the Second Prince making a public appearance, it should dampen their arrogance a bit!”

After Tie Xinchuan spoke, he took the lead and walked down towards the city wall.

Yuan Bai’s eyes lit up instantly at these words, and he immediately followed.

The Dragon Forbidden Captain is composed based on the early military system of Great Xia. The entire army comprises a thousand men, divided into ten camps, with the most elite Reconnaissance Camp personally led by Commander Tie Xinchuan, while the remaining nine camps are respectively commanded by Vice Commander Yuan Bai and eight other commanders.

At this moment, half of the Dragon Forbidden Captain has already dispersed around Milk Tiger Forest for vigilance, and the hundred men under Tie Xinchuan and Yuan Bai are at the northeastern outskirts of Milk Tiger Forest, waiting for Xia Yusheng’s carriage.

“Stand firm, the Second Prince’s carriage will arrive soon!”

The two quickly reached the front of the army, seeing the soldiers of the two camps standing in a disorderly manner, gathering in groups of three or five, idly chatting. Tie Xinchuan immediately shouted angrily.

It could be seen that the two hundred soldiers showed no fear on their faces when they saw Tie Xinchuan, and only after hearing that Xia Yusheng’s carriage was about to arrive did they quickly form lines and stand properly.

Seeing the performance of the two hundred soldiers, Tie Xinchuan couldn’t help but sigh slightly inside.

Not only him, but Vice Commander Yuan Bai, who followed, felt the same.

“Commander, the carriage is just behind. The Second Prince wants you to lead people into the forest in advance to open the way. No need to wait here, lead the people inside first!”

Suddenly, a figure clad in armor quickly approached from behind; it was Commander of the Third Camp, Lu Dong. Although he referred to Tie Xinchuan as “Commander,” there was no trace of respect for him either in his manner or words. He even used Xia Yusheng’s verbal instructions to directly issue orders to him.

Hearing Lu Dong’s words, Tie Xinchuan hadn’t said anything yet, but Yuan Bai’s face immediately darkened, clearly intending to reprimand Lu Dong.

However, before he could speak, Tie Xinchuan stopped him.

“Alright, then I’ll lead the men in to open the way first!”

Tie Xinchuan shook his head at Yuan Bai, then replied to Lu Dong, gesturing to the Reconnaissance Camp and the two hundred men from Camp One, leading them towards the forest.

Seeing this, Yuan Bai could only suppress his anger, following behind Tie Xinchuan, turning his head to watch Lu Dong’s departing figure, unable to resist moving closer to Tie Xinchuan and speaking:

“At the beginning of the year, we both shouldn’t have taken the positions of Commander and Vice Commander of the Dragon Forbidden Captain. This thousand-man arrogant elite is truly unmanageable, better to join any numbered army casually, no need to be mistreated here…”

Upon hearing Yuan Bai’s words, Tie Xinchuan didn’t speak, but internally he couldn’t help but let out a sigh, a hint of regret flashing across his face.

The idea of forming a Forbidden Guard Army for the lord had crossed Minister Xia Chuan’s mind long ago, but it had always been hindered by the limitations of Great Xia’s strength, and thus never succeeded.

With the explosive growth of the Cold Resistance Level in recent years, Xia Chuan finally issued an order in March of this year to Director of the Military Department, Yuwen Dao, to form a Forbidden Guard Army for the lord.

Yuwen Dao naturally didn’t dare to slack off in forming the Forbidden Guard Army, pouring his heart into everything from the specific name of the Forbidden Guard Army, the number of soldiers, equipment regulations, cultivation limitations, to the specific selection process, meticulously scrutinizing every aspect.

Since it’s a Forbidden Guard, the number of people naturally couldn’t be too many, so it was set at a thousand, following the original system of the Xia Army.

The equipment regulations could not be sloppy either. Notwithstanding the weapons for now, the most top-tier among the current standardized war armor of Great Xia is the Ten Thousand Forged Profound Scale Silver Armor, made of silver and Jiao Long scales. Thus, the Profound Scale Silver Armor naturally became the standard equipment for the Forbidden Guard Army.

The name “Dragon Forbidden Captain” was derived from the Profound Scale Silver Armor.

As for the cultivation limitation, it was relatively simple. The total weight of the Ten Thousand Forged Profound Scale Silver Armor is over 1.5 Zong; without strength over 15 Zong, wearing it would even restrict mobility, so the cultivation limit for Dragon Forbidden Captain selection was naturally set to above 15 Zong.

15 Zong is just the cultivation limitation; when it came to the actual selection, even strength of 20 Zong was not sufficient to be chosen.

As the lord’s close attendants, moreover as personal troops, the benefits of accompanying Xia Hong outside were well known among the Xia people, especially the older generation.

Thus, as soon as the news of forming the Dragon Forbidden Captain spread in March, the entire Great Xia instantly became boiling. Not to mention the young people who hadn’t joined the army, even the veteran elite soldiers from already formed Great Xia Corps like Cloud Jiao, Long Wu, Dragon Slayer, and Tiger Leopard were tempted, returning to participate in the selection.

In such intense competition, imagining the strength of those who stood out and ultimately became part of the Dragon Forbidden Captain is not hard.

As the Commander, Tie Xinchuan was well aware of these statistics.

Currently, the entire Dragon Forbidden Captain of one thousand men, the weakest among them has a basic strength over 25 Zong, and if you count Holy Patterns and Martial Arts, their strength is generally above 40 Zong.

Strong strength is just part of it; the critical point is that these people are all very young. During the March Dragon Forbidden Captain selection, considering the large number of soldiers wanting to return, Yuwen Dao made supplementary regulations that the age of Dragon Forbidden Captain soldiers should not exceed thirty years.

In fact, Yuwen Dao’s regulations were quite clear; the slots for Dragon Forbidden Captain were specifically prepared for the best-qualified group among the new generation of Great Xia.

Gathering such a thousand top geniuses to build an army, the strength of the Dragon Forbidden Captain needs no further description.

The problem is, with great strength, comes great hassle!

Lu Dong, Luo An, Zou Ping, Luo Cheng, Liu Peng, Hong Ye, Zhao Yuanwu, Zhao Yuankong, Xiao Hen, Xiao Yan, Chen Ping, Jiang Yichen…

These top geniuses are not only from Great Xia but also include the newly incorporated Three Towns of Muyin, Jiangxia, and Chui Mountain.

To gather such a group, to make them obedient ordinary soldiers following superior’s orders is as difficult as ascending to heaven.
