Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1563: Chapter 491: The Battle Begins, Abduction Fails

A sound rang from behind, and everyone instinctively turned their heads to look back, but unfortunately, they were too slow. Before they could fully turn around, three figures had already passed them and blocked the way in front of Xia Yusheng.

“It’s Lord Meng!”

“Lord Cheng and Lord Jiang are here too.”

“There’s a battle on the west side, look at the sky!”

………

In August of the third year of the Great Xia, when the two princes were born, the then chief director of the Prison Department, Li Tiancheng, proactively volunteered to assign six guards to them. These six guards were originally from the Longshan Eight Great Vajra: Meng Ying, Cheng Guang, Jiang Ping, Sun Yan, Yue Qian, and Song Kang.

Now, nine years later, the identities of the six have naturally evolved beyond ordinary guards; they are exclusive Hidden Guards under the Xia Palace, commanded by Lady Li Xuanling, and hold legitimate fourth-rank positions in the Great Xia.

It’s quite understandable when thought about: the Longshan Eight Great Vajra were originally die-hard loyalists of Longshan’s founder, Li Tianhua. With the downfall of Longshan, the only surviving second-generation members of the Li Family, Li Xuanyan and Li Xuandu, left the Southern Slope Territory. Li Tiancheng joined the Great Xia, and Li Tianhua’s only daughter, Li Xuanling, naturally became the focus of their allegiance.

During the Great Xia’s conquest of Long Mountain, only one of the Eight Great Vajra, He Tu, died, while the remaining seven pledged allegiance to the Great Xia. Zhou Yuan, with notable leadership skills, currently serves in the Military Department; the remaining six have continually protected the safety of the two princes in secret, ever since the third year of the Great Xia.

And needless to say, not many people in the Great Xia know about these six Hidden Guards.

However, the Dragon Forbidden Captain is different; they are, after all, the Forbidden Guard of Xia Palace, and the majority of their soldiers come from the current top noble families of Great Xia, so most of them are aware of the six Hidden Guards.

The six Hidden Guards are now divided into two groups: Meng Ying, Jiang Ping, and Cheng Guang are dedicated to protecting the Second Prince Xia Yusheng; while Sun Yan, Yue Qian, and Song Kang are responsible for protecting the First Prince Xia Yuyao.

………

Returning to the west side of the Milk Tiger Forest.

Upon hearing the exclamations and discovering it was Meng Ying and the other two appearing, the faces of Tie Xinchuan, Yuan Bai, and others changed drastically.

Unlike the other Dragon Forbidden Captain soldiers, Tie Xinchuan, and Yuan Bai, along with ten others, had no leisure to observe the battle in the sky on the west side. Almost immediately, they rushed forward to surround Xia Yusheng and Han Yue. Tie Xinchuan quickly picked up Xia Yusheng and swiftly retreated toward the wagon in the back.

“Why are you all standing around? Hurry and surround the wagon, head back to the city!”

Tie Xinchuan shouted angrily, and only then did the five hundred Dragon Forbidden Captain soldiers realize what was happening, quickly rushing forward to encircle the wagon. Once Xia Yusheng and Han Yue were inside, the Dragon Forbidden Captain assigned to pull the wagon immediately exerted their full force to drive it eastward.

“It’s only four or five kilometers; carrying the Second Prince directly back to the city would be faster, wouldn’t it?”

“Right! It’s too slow to take the wagon back!”

“Carry the Second Prince back to the city first! He’ll be safe once we’re back in the city.”

……

As the wagon started moving, many Dragon Forbidden Captain soldiers noticed the speed was a bit slow and immediately voiced their doubts, thinking it would be faster to carry Xia Yusheng back to the city directly.

“Do I need you all to be jabbering here? Just follow orders!”

Tie Xinchuan, guarding the rear of the wagon, roared angrily, interrupting everyone.

He turned his head to look toward the west side. In the northwestern and southwestern skies above Milk Tiger Forest, six Beast Kings, each thirty zhang long, were entangled with dozens of bright lights. Those lights were roughly split into two factions, one helping the Beast Kings against the other.

“That’s the twelve Cold Beast Stakes of the Lord, all deployed!”

“Not just that, Lady, Director Yuan, Director Qiu, Lord Xu, Lord Xiang, almost all the Xianyang-level individuals from the city have come. How many people from the opposing side have arrived?”

“Twenty, there are a total of twenty; what are they trying to do?”

“All of them arrived through Sky Control, all are Xianyang-level!”

“Are they people from Northern Three Towns?”

“Definitely, who else could it be besides them?”

“The Three Towns don’t have this many Xianyang-level individuals; probably Xianyang-level individuals from Chen Cang and Cai Qiu are here too.”

“The target is the Second Prince?”

………

“Is it your place to be concerned about this? All of you tighten the encirclement, keep alert, and guard against anyone taking advantage!”

Seeing everyone still turning their heads to watch the battle in the sky to the west as they walked, Tie Xinchuan’s expression became exceedingly grim, interrupting them a second time.

He only needed a sideways glance to grasp the general situation of the battle in the sky to the west. There were a total of twenty Xianyang-level individuals across two battlefields. Based solely on that, one could tell that this attempt to capture the Second Prince was anything but simple.

Carrying the Second Prince quickly back to the city, could Meng Ying and the others not think of that?

Meng Ying was currently standing on top of the wagon, with Jiang Ping and Cheng Guang on each side of the wagon. Seeing the three of them adopting a stance as if facing a formidable enemy, Tie Xinchuan’s expression grew even heavier.

“Lord Meng, Jiang, and Cheng have all broken through to Xianyang-level, and even they have adopted such a stance; the ones who came tonight aren’t just those twenty Xianyang-level individuals; there must be others. It’s not just the brazen ones we should fear, but also those employing deceit techniques!”

Tie Xinchuan had long understood Meng Ying’s intention.

Given their previous location was only four to five kilometers from Xia City, Meng Ying could easily have made a move, carrying Xia Yusheng and flying directly back to the city, probably taking under ten breaths. The fact that Meng Ying and the others didn’t dare to do so meant they couldn’t assure Xia Yusheng’s safe return within those ten breaths.

“Returning inside the wagon is indeed the safest option. With protection from Lord Meng, Jiang, and Cheng, plus us, the Dragon Forbidden Captain, it should be fine. At most, we’ll be back in the city within a hundred breaths!”
