Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1575: Chapter 494: Hatred and Growth, the Scapegoat Murong Ping (3)

Currently, there are quite a few people at the Xianyang Level in Great Xia. For a third-rank position like Deputy Director, there’s a large crowd of people who are envious and just waiting for you to make a mistake so they can pull you down.

Murong Ping’s complexion turned pale, indicating that he naturally understood this truth.

Thinking about how he had only taken up this Deputy Director position last year, and in less than two years he might have to step down, Murong Ping’s expression was somewhat bitter. Yet, in this matter, he had no room for argument, and ultimately could only cup his hands and say in a low voice:

“The Prison Department is willing to accept punishment!”

“Not only must you accept punishment…”

At this moment, Qiu Peng interjected. Seeing Murong Ping looking over, he continued, “Yang Jian and his group of scoundrels must have an inside man in the city. The area where Yang Jian and the others are hiding has already been found. It’s not difficult to root out that insider, but the challenge lies in ferreting out all of the spies in the Five Towns to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. The war at the Southern Slope is about to begin, the Great Xia’s military momentum is imminent, and the Northern Five Towns are about to be overturned. In their hysteria, who knows what else they might do?

If those spies create another big affair, it won’t just be as simple as being at the bottom of the assessments.”

Murong Ping, being older with naturally extensive experience, immediately understood that Qiu Peng was helping him. He quickly threw a grateful glance at him, then hurriedly cupped his hands towards Li Xuanling and said, “Madam, I will immediately return to the department to arrange for a thorough investigation into the attempted assassination of His Highness, and will definitely root out that insider. None related to this matter will be spared.”

Li Xuanling waved her hand, directly indicating for him to withdraw, and then continued to say to Qiu Peng and the others, “You should also go make arrangements! For this Northern Expedition, all matters will be coordinated by the four-route Marshals. I will oversee things from Xia City.”

“Subordinates take their leave!”

Qiu Peng and the others immediately cupped their hands in farewell, and they all left the great hall.

Li Xuanling sat alone on the chair for more than ten breaths, finally turning her head to look at the main seat to the side. Her beautiful eyes were slightly tinged with worry.

………

Li Xuanling’s arrangements at the Lord’s Hall in Xia City were, for the time being, only known to the high-level figures like Qiu Peng. The transfer of troops and supplies was not that quick, and although the people in the city could sense something, the high-level figures like Qiu Peng were very tight-lipped, so no one explicitly knew the news.

Lin Kai and Xu Ning were the first to go from Hanqiong to the Beishuo area to send a message to Lu Yang of East Ridge.

Therefore, Lu Yang was the first person outside of Xia City to know the situation.

In the twelfth year of Da Xia, December 26, late at night

“The gang of scoundrels in the Five Towns have the audacity of a wolf!”

After hearing the news brought by Xu Ning, Lu Yang stood up angrily, directly smashing the table in front of him, his face full of cold fury.

Lin Kai said coldly from the side, “Madam has decided to go to war. They won’t be able to jump around for long. The central and rear troops will be in position in three days. Xu Ning and I still need to go separately to East River City and Jinyang City to notify the Minister and Yuwen Sizheng. Madam asked me to inform you that she will have the Black Arrow, Qing Jiao, and East Sun armies assembled at the Hanqiong stronghold. You should be ready to rise up in Beishuo at any moment!”

Lu Yang’s expression shook, and he nodded emphatically, “I have been waiting in the shadows for nine years, and today is what I’ve been waiting for. Please help me pass a message to the Minister. The entire Jingxi District, including parts of Linya and He Valley, is already under my control. As long as the Minister gives the order, I can make Jingxi change banners directly, and it’s not too difficult to quickly capture Linya and He Valley as well.”

Beishuo consisted of only seven districts in total, East River was already under the control of the Allies, so there were only six left, and now Lu Yang actually had the confidence to directly capture three.

Hearing this, Lin Kai and Xu Ning both became extremely excited.

“Military supplies and all necessary materials will arrive at Hanqiong within three days at the latest. We have already instructed Zhang Jiuling to send the supplies up as soon as they arrive. You just need to wait for the orders then.”

After giving their instructions, Lin Kai and Xu Ning directly took their leave of Lu Yang, one heading towards East River City to the north, and the other towards Jinyang City in the northwest, to inform Xia Chuan and Yuwen Dao, respectively.
