Forcing Me to Be a Godly Tycoon, Right?

Zhang Jingdong naturally caught the meaning behind his words and immediately said, ”Xu, it seems like you had a pleasant collaboration with Director Ning this time?”

Xu Zheng was once again amazed by Zhang Jingdong’s emotional intelligence and responded, ”Yes, yes, yes... Without exaggeration, Director Ning is the most promising director I’ve ever worked with. I believe after this movie, he will certainly have a place in the Chinese film industry.”

”I heard you already signed a long-term contract with Director Ning in advance, Boss Zhang. Your foresight is incredible, and I guarantee Director Ning won’t let you down!”

Zhang Jingdong laughed carefreely, ”Since you admire Director Ning so much, here’s the deal: for each of his future films, I’ll have him send you the script in advance. If you find a suitable role, we can collaborate anytime.”

In his past life, Zhang Jingdong didn’t have a strong impression of Xu Zheng, but he knew this guy had a knack for comedy and was very good at making money.

Zhang Jingdong planned to use him until ”Lost in Hong Kong” was released.

Upon hearing this, Xu Zheng’s face instantly lit up with joy, ”Thank you, Boss Zhang... Thank you, Boss Zhang!”

Zhang Yuqi watched as the big star Xu Zheng showed such humility in front of Zhang Jingdong and thanked him so earnestly, which made her secretly give him a lot more credit.

Soon, the crew resumed filming.

Zhang Jingdong checked the time and then said to Zhang Yuqi, ”You stay with the crew, watch and learn, and get a good feel for the atmosphere.”

”I’m going to the company. There are candidates to interview today, and I’ll come back to pick you up tonight.”

Zhang Yuqi obediently nodded, ”Okay.”

Zhang Jingdong took her to say hello to Ning Hao, then bid her farewell and headed to Qingyun Technology Company.

The big office was still crowded as usual.

Due to time constraints, Zhang Jingdong did not first go to Lin Qingci’s office to take advantage but went directly to his office instead.

He roughly checked the profiles of today’s candidates, then called Lin Qingci on the internal line, ”President Lin, I’m here. Can we start scheduling the interviews now?”

Lin Qingci instinctively asked, ”When did you arrive at the company?”

”Just now.”

”Oh... okay.”

Zhang Jingdong detected something off in her tone and couldn’t help but laugh, ”See? Isn’t it a little unsettling for you that I didn’t stop by your office first?”

Lin Qingci got a bit flustered, ”What... what are you talking about? No, I’m not!”

”Haha... that just confirms what I said. Hold on, I’m coming over right now!”

”No need, you’re late today, and you must be efficient. I’ll arrange the interviews now; you’re not allowed to come over!”

After hanging up the phone, worried that Zhang Jingdong wouldn’t listen, Lin Qingci quickly blushed and left her office.

Five minutes later, the interviews officially began.

However, the quality of today’s candidates was noticeably lower than yesterday’s. Out of the first thirty candidates Zhang Jingdong interviewed, he only selected two.

Just then, the office door opened again, and two young men walked in.

One was tall and sturdy, the other short and thin.

Zhang Jingdong froze.

First, he thought they looked somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t immediately recall where he’d seen them.

Second, seeing them together gave him an inexplicable urge... to laugh.

Yes, laugh, like many people feel when they first see a character from ”Kung Fu”; just seeing him makes you want to laugh.

Zhang Jingdong gestured, ”Please, have a seat.”

The two exchanged a glance and complied.

”Can you start with an introduction?”

The short and thin young man spoke, ”Hello, my name is Huang Yixin, I’m 22 years old, and I’m studying at Yangcheng Academy of Fine Arts.”

The tall and sturdy young man followed, ”Hello, my name is Wei Wei, I’m 22 years old as well, and I’m also studying at Yangcheng Academy of Fine Arts.”

Zhang Jingdong curiously asked, ”Why did you two come to the interview together?”

Huang Yixin replied, ”Because we’re part of a duo.”

”A duo?” Zhang Jingdong quickly recalled something, then a thought flashed in his mind, ”What’s the name of your group?”

”... Back Dorm Boys.”

Zhang Jingdong burst into laughter; it really was them!

The two of them were among the earliest internet celebrities in China, gaining massive popularity online mimicking the Backstreet Boys’ ”As Long As You Love Me.”

They later released a few quirky singles and videos, staying popular online for several years, and even starred in a few films and dramas.

Even ten years later, when the Backstreet Boys came to China for a concert, they video-called these two.

Feigning ignorance, Zhang Jingdong asked, ”What kind of creators are you here to audition for?”

”We...” Huang Yixin shyly said, ”We’re good at comedy and singing.”

”Comedy? Can you do a live performance?”

”... Sure.”

Though both were a bit shy, they had anticipated this part and prepared, so they quickly stood up and performed a quirky version of ”As Long As You Love Me” for Zhang Jingdong.

Although they weren’t wearing that iconic red outfit, their performance was almost identical to the video, which resonated with Zhang Jingdong.

He said, ”Alright, your performance was pretty good, you’ve passed the interview. Our staff will discuss signing details with you.”

Huang Yixin and Wei Wei exchanged a glance, both wearing excited smiles on their faces.

”Thank you, Mr. Zhang!”

”Thank you, Mr. Zhang!”

After they left, Zhang Jingdong suddenly thought of another duo with a similar style.

They seemed to have gotten popular in recent years too. Would they come this time?

Over the next couple of hours, Zhang Jingdong interviewed several dozen more people and selected five.

Just then, the office door opened again, and Lin Qingci walked in.

Today, she was dressed in a black business suit skirt.

Strict yet alluring.

These two words seemed to be poles apart, but if you think carefully, especially if you’ve seen the Teacher series, you’d naturally understand the connection between them.

With just one look, Zhang Jingdong felt an urge and got up immediately, ”Let’s go to your office!”

Lin Qingci noticed the intensity in his gaze but feigned innocence, ”Why? Stop joking around!”

”Come on, it feels better in your office!”
