Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 622: Chapter 620: What Great Prestige [First Update]

Three days passed in a blink of an eye.

Lu Xiaobu thoroughly enjoyed himself for three days.

Right, there was another thing, which was the lawsuit with Ma Jinze. Evidence was being collected, and the court session could commence shortly.

Nevertheless, this matter did not require Lu Xiaobu’s personal appearance; it was sufficient for Liang Lan to handle it.

...

”Young Master, which military region is it exactly?” Zhang Meng finally couldn’t help but ask.

”The Imperial Military Region.”

Lu Xiaobu said as if it were a matter of course.

”Ah? The Imperial Military Region?”

Zhang Meng suddenly stopped, a hint of hesitation flashing in his eyes.

”What’s wrong? You look off.” Lu Xiaobu asked with confusion, Zhang Meng had never shown this kind of expression before.

”It’s nothing.” Zhang Meng shook his head and repeated, ”It’s nothing.”

”Alright, remember to speak up if there’s something.”

Lu Xiaobu was full of questions, but he had no intention of pressing further.

After all, Zhang Meng’s unusual state must have had its reasons.

Zhang Meng called for Li Jin to follow Lu Xiaobu, and he himself left alone.

”Do you know what’s going on?” Lu Xiaobu asked Li Jin.

”Young Master, we were from the Imperial Military Region before.”

Li Jin said with a wry smile.

”Oh.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded, somewhat understanding the situation.

Zhang Meng had served in the Imperial Military Region, and had even been a Special Soldier instructor; it was only natural for him to have special feelings for that place.

However, Zhang Meng’s attachment was not simply sentimental.

After getting ready, they quickly set off.

...

Upon arrival at the entrance, they got out of the car, underwent inspection, switched to the military vehicle, and entered the military base.

Next was to follow the procedures, nothing much to speak of.

This speech was essentially a business deal in plain terms.

Lu Xiaobu needed to legitimize this affair, and the other party needed the publicity; it was a win-win situation.

Thus, it was merely a matter of going through the motions.

What Lu Xiaobu found truly interesting was visiting the barracks after finishing the procedures.

The military’s territory had only one theme color, and that was green.

Green vegetation, green trees, and the soldiers walking around, all dressed in camouflage green!

Zhang Meng and Li Jin couldn’t help but reveal a look of nostalgia on their faces.

It was evident that everything here was deeply etched in their minds; this was once their home.

At first, Lu Xiaobu was also filled with a sense of novelty.

And you should have seen it, his favorite thing was soldiers!

However, as much as he liked it, after a while, he started to feel a bit weary.

After all, everything here was orderly, and rules were what Lu Xiaobu liked the least.

He felt somewhat oppressed.

Noticing Lu Xiaobu’s irritation, Zhang Meng whispered to him, ”Young Master, you can ask Company Commander Wang to take us to the training field, it’s a bit livelier there.”

He was very familiar with this place.

”Sounds good.”

Lu Xiaobu’s eyes lit up immediately, looking at Company Commander Wang leading the way and asking, ”Company Commander Wang, could we take a look at the training field?”

”Of course.” Company Commander Wang smiled, ”Since Mr. Lu has a request, I’d be delighted to comply.”

”Let’s go, then.”

Lu Xiaobu said excitedly.

”Oh, by the way, I know you directed ’Bright Sword,’ and I really love that TV show!”

”Whether it’s Li Yunlong or Chu Yunfei in it, I like them both a lot! It’s just a pity about Monk Wei!”

”Monk Wei is just like an old soldier, capable and skilled, but likes to bully the newcomers, I find it incredibly endearing!”

”In a bit, when we get to the training ground, you’ll see a lot of veteran soldiers like this, so if anyone gives you trouble, just let me know, I’ll knock them out!”

Company Commander Wang suddenly became very talkative, going on and on without end.

”Uh-huh.”

Xiaobu felt a headache coming on as soon as he started talking about this.

He’d heard this kind of talk a basketful today and was truly numb to it.

Of course, the day wasn’t just filled with compliments; there were also those who expressed doubts.

Frankly, the image of Li Yunlong wasn’t very positive.

It was understandable that some would have objections.

...

They arrived at the training ground.

It wasn’t as neat as the military camp they’d left behind, it was more about sweat and dust.

The soldiers were all training vigorously.

Xiaobu was thrilled to watch them!

Men always find this kind of hard-hitting action interesting.

”Can I give it a try?”

Xiaobu rubbed his hands together excitedly as he looked at the training activities in front of him.

He loved soldiers the most!

He had always found the training sequences in Special Soldier TV series addictive.

So now, he really wanted to have firsthand experience.

Of course, he knew he was being overconfident. It looked easy, but it was actually tough.

But so what?

He was just there for the experience, not to compete!

”This...”

Company Commander Wang was put in a tough spot upon hearing this!

”If it’s against the rules, then forget it, no big deal.”

Hearing Company Commander Wang’s difficulty, Xiaobu waved it off, saying that he was just looking for a bit of fun and didn’t want to put anyone out.

”It’s not that it’s against the rules, but Mr. Lu, your body...” Company Commander Wang clenched his teeth: ”I’m a soldier, I speak frankly, please don’t take it the wrong way, if you want to try, there’s no rule against it, it’s just that I’m worried it might hurt you.”

”Oh, it’s fine, it’s fine, a little injury is normal.”

Xiaobu waved his hand, getting excited again, as long as he was permitted.

”Well, alright then.”

Company Commander Wang thought it over and then nodded in agreement: ”I’ll clear the area so they don’t bump into you.”

To tell the truth, he admired Xiaobu’s television work, but when it came to this training, he really didn’t believe in it.

”No, no, that won’t be necessary. They’re in the middle of training; why clear the area? It’ll disrupt their training schedule.”

Xiaobu waved his hand and said.

”It’s okay, it’s okay.”

Company Commander Wang insisted and went ahead to clear the area.

He was a commander, of course he knew that often injuries during training aren’t due to the actions, the speed, and so on.

More often it’s because of the soldiers competing with each other, and in that atmosphere, movements can easily become non-standard, leading to injury.

Especially for someone more delicate like Xiaobu, who rarely exercised, it was easy for them to be overconfident.

So, clearing the area was better.

Anyway, Xiaobu would probably get tired after one or two things.

Seeing Company Commander Wang going to clear the area, Xiaobu just shrugged his shoulders and didn’t say any more.

...

Soon, the training soldiers were gathered together and sat off to the side.

The soldiers didn’t know what was happening and started whispering among themselves.

”What’s going on here?”

”Emergency assembly? Or is some leader visiting? Doesn’t feel like it either!”

”Yeah, if it was an emergency assembly, they wouldn’t have us sitting here waiting!”

”What exactly happened?”

”...”

Suddenly someone chimed in: ”Hey, looks like they’re making way for some Young Master! Such pomp and show!”
