Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 297: Chapter 296 King of Deadbeats [Third Release, 24,000 Recommendation Votes Bonus]

Hearing that Lu Xiaobu was about to take action, Lu Wenhuo and Li Xide couldn’t help but quietly pity the deadbeat for three seconds.

You refuse to pay back the money you owe, taking others’ kindness as your capital to flaunt around, now that Lu Xiaobu has arrived, are you prepared for the aftermath?

This time Li Xide smartened up, rushing immediately to Lu Xiaobu’s side.

This time, he was determined to follow the Young Master, and no one was going to drive him away.

Actually, it wasn’t like anyone was competing with him for that, everyone was busy.

”Okay, Li Xide, give us an update on the situation.”

Lu Xiaobu asked.

”Sure, Young Master, here’s the situation: you initiated an installment payment method for our Shadow Phone. Most people do pay on time, and even if they can’t pay for a while, they catch up after some communication.”

”However, there are some deadbeats who consistently refuse to pay, always finding excuses to delay.”

”And the biggest deadbeat among them is a man named Wei Chen, he has been in debt for four months now, and he even assembled a bunch of other deadbeats online, forming some sort of Rob the Rich to Aid the Poor Alliance.”

Li Xide detailed the situation and even showed Lu Xiaobu this so-called ’Rob the Rich to Aid the Poor’ alliance.

Lu Xiaobu was amused and angry after seeing it.

These guys are shameless!

Not only do they not mention their failure to repay debts, but they also continuously exploit the public’s resentment towards the rich, demonizing Lu Xiaobu.

They have glorified their shameless actions under the guise of so-called ’justice’.

He had seen deadbeats before, but he had never seen such shameless ones.

Rob the Rich to Aid the Poor?!

Today, I will show you what being rich is!

”Let’s go, move out.”

Lu Xiaobu led Zhang Meng, Li Jin, and Li Xide, his three generals, to confront Wei Chen, the ringleader of the deadbeats.

...

In Province T.

A quaint two-story building stood among the mountains and rivers, towering over its surroundings.

Those who know could tell just by the appearance, that the construction cost of this small building was no less than a million.

Of course, in today’s housing market where prices easily soar into the millions, this building was nothing extraordinary.

But the strange thing was, despite its unpretentious look, a crowd of mid-range cars gathered outside the house.

To Lu Xiaobu, who was accustomed to luxury cars, these vehicles were no big deal, but for the average family or villager, they were considered quite decent.

Yet, the villagers wore an expression of unsurprise.

”Here they come again, what exactly does this Wei family do for a living that people are always turning up at their doorstep with gifts?”

”Who knows! Clearly, it’s some money-making business, look, they even managed to build that two-story house in a few years.”

”But I’ve heard that these people are here to collect debts, it seems like Wei owes a lot of money.”

”Nonsense, have you ever seen debt collectors bringing gifts? Even if nowadays debtors are treated like kings, it shouldn’t be to this extent!”

”That’s true. These aren’t ordinary people after all, can’t they deal with just one Wei?”

”...”

The villagers chatted then dispersed, hanging up the matter as if it didn’t concern them.

Just another piece of gossip for them.

Inside the two-story building, however, the scene was something they could never imagine.

Wei Chen reclined in his chair, smoking and watching TV, looking every bit the arrogant landlord.

The expressions of the people around him were diverse.

Some looked angry, desperate, pleading, and others appeared indifferent.

”Wei Lao San, I’m telling you, you need to pay me back today! Otherwise, we won’t be done!”

Wang Changdong bellowed angrily, appearing ready to fight Wei if he didn’t get his money back.

”Whatever!”

Wei Chen scoffed at Wang Changdong’s words, casually waved his hand: ”The kitchen knife is in the kitchen, there’s a fruit knife in the coffee table drawer, and if that’s not enough, there’s a gas cylinder in the kitchen. Turn it on and light a cigarette to calm down!”

He had seen plenty of these desperate moves, they were nothing to bother about!

His fearless tone enraged Wang Changdong even more: ”Alright, you think I’m scared? Just you wait!”

Wang Changdong finished speaking and rushed into the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, and charged at Wei Chen!

This Wei Chen, back then borrowed one hundred thousand from him, claiming it was for business.

But since then, he completely disappeared.

It took him great effort to finally find this place, and after two visits, Wei Chen still refuses to repay the money.

This was already the third time, and he couldn’t delay his daughter’s surgery any longer!

He urgently needed this money!

Otherwise, he would have to resort to those fatal high-interest loans that lead to ruin and destruction!

However!

Just as he was rushing out, he was pinned down by three to five people.

”What are you doing? Let go of me! I’m going to fight him to the death!”

Wang Changdong was shouting.

”Brother, calm down, calm down!”

An older uncle, Jiao Xinkai, took the kitchen knife from Wang Changdong and handed him a cigarette: ”Have a smoke to calm down, this won’t solve your problem.”

”He owes you guys money too, right? Why are you still helping him?” Wang Changdong was both puzzled and furious!

”Why?” Uncle Jiao Xinkai sighed bitterly, helplessly saying, ”Because if you fought him to death, who would pay us back? What else could be the reason!”

”What should I do then? What can I do?!” Unable to bear it, Wang Changdong burst into tears, holding his head: ”My daughter is still waiting for the money to have surgery!”

”Ah!”

The others all sighed, but there was nothing they could do.

Everyone has their own difficulties, who has it easy?

Lying on the recliner, Wei Chen sneered, ”Enough, stop the damned crying, didn’t you see I’m watching TV here! If you want to cry, go cry outside!”

To be such a deadbeat to this extent, he could damn well be considered top tier!

His words made everyone at the scene quiet down!

Their faces conveyed both repression and helplessness!

The tactics used by Wang Changdong were already considered low-level leftovers to them.

Talking about fighting to the death, they had many tricks, but Wei Chen had ways to cope with all of them.

You go post big-character posters denouncing his behavior as a deadbeat?

He’d let you do it.

If the publicity is small, not only will no one believe it!

Other creditors will still have to clarify on his behalf under his coercion.

If the publicity is big, it’s not worth it!

Even if you get the money back, the cost would exceed what you retrieve!

You talk about hiring a debt collection company, those people from the underworld?

Ha, he knows the local thugs better; they act fiercer than you.

You throw paint, he’ll have someone smash your car!

You send people to harass, he dares to have someone hit you with a brick!

Some even say to sue him?

Is he afraid you’ll sue?!

His subpoenas from the court probably fill up an entire filing cabinet!

Courts order him for enforced repayment, but you can’t find any of his money, could only move some furniture, but it’s just a drop in the bucket!

Moreover, this way, you’ll anger him, and he’ll still find ways to trouble you. Who dares provoke him?!

So, they’ve resigned themselves to fate!

They can only carry things over every day, hoping that Wei Chen might repay the money.

Some say, would this deadbeat repay the money?

Yes!

Every day he randomly repays one person’s money, and that remains their only hope.

But, the process of repaying money is just... sigh!

At this moment Wei Chen finished an episode of the TV series, turned off the TV, stretched lazily, ”Alright, whose money should I repay today?”
