Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 296: Chapter 295: Cuckolded! [2nd Release, Please Subscribe]

Everyone knows that the closer it gets to the Chinese New Year before the holiday, the busier it becomes.

Students are busy with exams, workers are hustling for performance achievements, and managers are occupied preparing for the annual party, each on their toes, just so they can enjoy a peaceful New Year.

Even our homebody, Lu Xiaobu, is keeping busy. What with, you ask?

Chasing debts.

”Big bro, hand over the money.”

Lu Xiaobu ran after Lu Wenhuo, demanding payment.

”What for, what for? What money do you need?”

Lu Wenhuo feigned ignorance with his expression.

”You told me six months ago that if I could handle Wu Qianmin, you’d give me your scholarship money,” Lu Xiaobu said, righteously indignant. ”Now, don’t even mention handling it; even Uncle Wu acknowledges it, so your million yuan scholarship is mine.”

”Hehehe, you stinky brat, do you still care about that trifling amount of money from me?” Lu Wenhuo couldn’t help but laugh in exasperation. ”You can skim more off the top playing Water Knife than what I make.”

”It’s not the same thing. Playing Water Knife is to earn Water Knife money; the money you promised is the money you promised. This isn’t about the amount; it’s about principle.”

Lu Xiaobu patted his chest, saying, ”I am someone with principles.”

”Okay, okay.” Lu Wenhuo was also getting annoyed by Lu Xiaobu. He said to him, ”Fine, let’s go. Originally, your big bro planned to consider it as private funds for after I get married, but well, sigh!”

Lu Xiaobu flashed a victorious smile: ”No worries, if you ever run out of pocket money in the future, just ask your little brother here. I can easily give you one or two billion; no big deal.”

Before he mentioned it, it was fine, but now that he brought it up, Lu Wenhuo rolled his eyes even harder: ”One or two billion doesn’t faze you, yet here you are, fussing over a million or so for half a year. You’re really something!”

The two entered the bedroom of Lu Wenhuo, which could almost pass as a study.

Lu Wenhuo opened the leftmost drawer of his desk, took out a box, and handed it to Lu Xiaobu: ”Here you go, it’s all inside.”

”Got it.”

Lu Xiaobu immediately opened the box with excitement.

It contained not only money, but all the remnants of Lu Wenhuo’s school days.

There were various medals, certificates, solo photos, class group photos, among others; one could say this box contained all the memories of Lu Wenhuo’s school days.

Moreover, it didn’t take long for Lu Xiaobu to discover a surprise that was both expected yet unexpected. He stealthily pulled out a photo, raising an eyebrow, ”Big bro, who’s this?”

”Cough cough cough, where did you find that?”

As soon as Lu Wenhuo saw it, he hurriedly tried to snatch the photo back: ”Take your money, but don’t mess with my photos.”

”That won’t do. If you don’t tell me the story behind this photo, I’m not giving it to you.” Lu Xiaobu wouldn’t let Lu Wenhuo off the hook.

They say Lu Wenhuo is an emotional idiot, but judging from this, that’s not true at all!

That’s more like it; who doesn’t have a bit of youthful romance?

Lu Xiaobu’s curiosity was now ablaze.

”Alright, alright.”

Lu Wenhuo sighed and could only sit on the bed and begin recounting his long-sealed youthful days to Lu Xiaobu.

”You also know, back then, our family wasn’t as wealthy as it is now; it all depended on our eldest brother, who had to take care of our entire family plus you, the prodigal fool. So our family was not as glamorous as it seemed on the outside, and I lived quite modestly during my school days.”

”Some even wanted to apply for financial aid for me; that was quite the joke at the time, which dad went to explain himself.”

As Lu Wenhuo reached this point, he affectionately ruffled Lu Xiaobu’s hair.

The ’prodigal fool’ as referred to by the Lu family members is clearly an endearment, not a reproach.

Lu Xiaobu chuckled awkwardly, although it was the former prodigal fool’s doing, he couldn’t help but take the blame.

”And then, I met her...”

Lu Wenhuo got lost in his memories, recounting to Lu Xiaobu his youthful days.

Lu Xiaobu listened with great interest; eavesdropping on someone else’s secrets felt rather exhilarating.

However, Lu Xiaobu’s curiosity soon turned to anger.

Because that woman was a complete harpy!

His slightly emotively challenged big brother diligently played the roles of both the understudy and the cuckold!

”Where’s that woman now?”

Lu Xiaobu sprang to his feet, unable to tolerate any further.

”Enough, you.” Lu Wenhuo grabbed Lu Xiaobu, ”I knew you guys had a temper, that’s why I didn’t tell you.”

”No way.” Lu Xiaobu stubbornly said, ”It’s not okay to bully someone like this, despising us for being poor while still eyeing your scholarship. Being a backup is bad enough, but to be cuckolded in the end? I’ll hunt that bitch down to the ends of the earth!”

”Will you listen or not? Will you listen?!” Lu Wenhuo put on a stern face, exuding the authority of an elder brother.

Lu Xiaobu’s reaction reminded him of how their big brother reacted when he first found out about this.

What a scene it was, big brother’s face sunk with anger, ready to slash that bastard with a knife.

To speak irreverently, in that moment, Lu Wenhuo even felt like it was big brother who had been cheated on, not himself.

That’s how the Lu family is, suffering in silence when wronged, it just passes.

But let someone try to wrong my brother!

Go on, I dare you!!!

”Huh!”

Seeing Lu Wenhuo’s stern face, Lu Xiaobu didn’t want to clash with his second brother and could only turn his face away, sulking.

That damn woman, such a damn bully!

”Alright, alright, I’m not even upset, but look how angry you are.”

Lu Wenhuo put an arm around Lu Xiaobu’s shoulder: ”Actually, it’s not really being cuckolded, since I haven’t even held her hand. It was just a verbal acknowledgment of being boyfriend and girlfriend, and that only lasted a day.”

Lu Xiaobu kept his face unchanged, but his heart was still full of fury.

So what if he had never dated?

Who doesn’t know for a romance, especially a first love, the moment you acknowledge the relationship it’s even more thrilling than the actual deep interactions?

Especially for someone as introverted as Lu Wenhuo, it’s even more true.

It’s your freedom to not accept, fine.

But you accepted today, and tonight you climb openly into someone else’s bed!

And this isn’t being cuckolded?!

This is plainly, in your face, letting you see you’re being cuckolded!

So-called being cuckolded, it’s hateful to tamper with the body, but to tamper with emotions is equally, if not more, unforgivable!

When the opportunity arises, he must find that damn woman and get revenge.

They were just talking about this.

When Li Xide’s call came in.

Lu Wenhuo stood up and answered the call.

”Hello, President Li, what’s up?”

Lu Wenhuo asked.

He and Li Xide were not the type very good at running companies, so many issues were handled by discussing between the two of them.

”About those people who defaulted on their installment payments, I’ve already sent people to chase them, but they still refuse to pay, what should we do?”

Li Xide said with some discomfort.

”Still refusing to pay? How about taking back the phones?”

Lu Wenhuo frowned as well.

”If they were willing to give back the phones, we wouldn’t have this problem, would we?”

Li Xide said incredulously.

”What, dealing with a deadbeat?”

Lu Xiaobu stood up, rolling up his sleeves, ”Let me handle this!”

Just the right occasion to vent his pent-up anger.

He might be generous, but he has zero tolerance for debt dodgers!

It’s clear from the fact he insists on collecting the money his brother promised him!

Even if I give you a billion, and you take it, that’s because I am willing to give it to you.

But if you borrow from me, even fifty cents, you better pay it back!
