Chapter 388: Chapter 259 Let’s Go to the Brothel Chapter 388: Chapter 259 Let’s Go to the Brothel Because of his abandonment of duty yesterday, which caused no one to be aware of Young Master Gu Ze’s departure from the residence, today, Zhou Zongbao was very dedicated to his post at the back door, continuing his unfinished one-month doorman experience.

“Zhou Zongbao!” Gu Changsheng, seeing Zhou Zongbao squatting by the back door counting ants, called out loudly.

“Ahh!” Zhou Zongbao, who was lost in thought, was startled by the sudden shout and immediately jumped up high.

After composing himself and seeing that it was Gu Changsheng who had come, Zhou Zongbao’s face immediately turned displeased, “Mother Tigress, what are you summoning my soul for so early in the morning? You almost scared me to death, Young Master!”

“Hehe…” Gu Changsheng, seeing the frightened Zhou Zongbao, covered her mouth and chuckled, “For a doorman watching the gate like you, you’re truly unqualified. I reckon even if someone walked right past your eyes and into the residence, you wouldn’t notice! What were you so absorbed in thinking?”

Upon hearing Gu Changsheng’s question, Zhou Zongbao sighed deeply with infinite sorrow, “Young Master is pondering whether Xiao Qiu will forgive me in a year, whether she’ll be willing to see me!”

Gu Changsheng, seeing him behave like a lovestruck fool, walked over and slapped him on the shoulder with brotherly affection, “Chill! You help me with a favor, and I guarantee I’ll get Han Qiu to agree to see you when the time comes. How does that sound to you?”

“Is there really such a good deal?” Hearing this, Zhou Zongbao immediately took a step back, alert, and pointed an accusing finger at Gu Changsheng, “Without a third of the profit, one won’t wake up early; I don’t believe you have such good intentions!”

“Agh! How can you doubt my integrity! I’ve come to discuss a serious matter with you in good faith!” Offended by the doubt cast on his character, Gu Changsheng glared at Zhou Zongbao, “It’s like a dog biting Lv Dongbin, not recognizing a good heart!”

Having said that, Gu Changsheng turned around and walked away, feigning indignation.

She didn’t believe that given Zhou Zongbao’s concern for Han Qiu, he wouldn’t call her back!

Negotiation is a psychological game, and she enjoyed the sensation of taking the initiative!

Indeed, just as Gu Changsheng expected, Zhou Zongbao immediately came running over to block her path when he saw her walking away, and with an air of arrogance, he spoke, “Speak, what do you want me to help you with? If it’s not too outrageous, I might as well help you out.”

Seeing him act so proudly, Gu Changsheng didn’t mind, and leaned a bit closer with twinkling eyes and a mischievous smile, “Zhou Zongbao, let’s go visit the brothel…”

“What?”

As soon as Gu Changsheng finished speaking, Zhou Zongbao exclaimed in shock and quickly fled away.

Gu Changsheng looked at herself up and down innocently and then turned to Zhou Zongbao.

Damn, looking at that terrified expression, does he think she’s a man-eating tiger? Is she that scary?

“Gu Changsheng, do you have any idea what you’re talking about?” Zhou Zongbao pointed at Gu Changsheng, stuttering and trembling.

“Of course I know, let’s go visit the brothel!” Gu Changsheng helpfully repeated.

Zhou Zongbao immediately widened his eyes in shock, raising his voice as he accused, “You dare say that again! A brothel! What kind of place do you think that is, not a place for you to go to!”

Upon hearing this, Gu Changsheng’s face also darkened as she placed her hands on her hips and retorted, “Why can’t I go there?”

Damn it, she was even planning to experience the feeling of ‘mooring near the wine shops on Qinhuai River’ if she ever had the chance to visit Qinhuai!

Qinhuai is great–brothels and bars are clustered along the river, a perfect place to gaze upon beauties!

“Do you even have any self-awareness as a woman? I’ve never heard of a woman frequenting a place of ill-repute!” Zhou Zongbao said indignantly.

What kind of woman did his Little Wood end up with!

She’s simply not a woman at all!

“What’s wrong with a place of ill-repute? All beings are equal; if men can go, why can’t I? Hmph!” Gu Changsheng snorted coldly, then turned to Zhou Zongbao, “Oh right, I nearly forgot, you’ve collected countless beauties in your Hundred Flowers Pavilion, His Highness Prince Bao probably really needn’t seek pleasure in such ill-reputed places, since he can enjoy himself at home!”

“You! You’re talking nonsense!” Zhou Zongbao, agitated and red-faced, hurriedly stepped forward to explain, “The beauties I’ve taken in are all hapless souls who, because of their beauty, have attracted the wrong sort of attention and have nowhere else to turn. I would never take advantage of them! Stop slandering me!”

“Oh? Zhou Zongbao, you’re lying, aren’t you? You almost tried to forcefully take me once; I’m certainly not one of those hapless souls!” Gu Changsheng looked at Zhou Zongbao with narrowed eyes, finally putting one of her concerns to rest.

She had always been worried about what Zhou Zongbao’s Hundred Flowers Pavilion truly was. If Zhou Zongbao was really that kind of playboy, she wouldn’t feel assured about matchmaking him with Han Qiu.

Now it seemed that Zhou Zongbao could at least be considered a man of integrity; her worries had been for nothing.

“Young Master only heard that Little Wood was taken with you and was not pleased, so I thought about causing him some trouble. It wasn’t about actually taking you. And it’s you who robbed me of over ten thousand taels of silver!” Mentioning this, Zhou Zongbao was filled with anger.

“Alright, alright, let’s not talk about that. How about it, what I just suggested, do you agree or not?” Gu Changsheng quickly changed the subject, as she definitely did not want to be questioned about the money–the silver that went into her pocket had no reason to leave!

“Don’t even think about it, I will not agree to your proposal!” Zhou Zongbao instantly dismissed her with a wave of his hand.

“Won’t you think it over again?” Gu Changsheng batted his big eyes, negotiating in a good-tempered manner.

“Think? Think about what? Do you take me for a fool?” Zhou Zongbao pointed at Gu Changsheng, his face flushed red and neck thick as he bellowed, “If Little Wood finds out that I took you to the brothel, wouldn’t he go mad with rage and turn against me?”

“If Xiao Qiu finds out Young Master has been to a brothel, do you think Xiao Qiu would still forgive the Young Master?”

“Mother Tigress, you’re deliberately setting me up, aren’t you?”

Gu Changsheng, bombarded by the shouting until his ears numbed, couldn’t help raising his hand to pat them and said, “Why would I, with nothing better to do, set you up?”

“Zhou Zongbao let me tell you, I am definitely going to the brothel, trust me, even if the evildoer gets angry, he won’t be able to do much. But if you let me go by myself, then you know the consequences, don’t you?”

“You!” Zhou Zongbao was so choked he was taken aback, his entire face darkening.

If Little Wood found out he had allowed Gu Changsheng to go to the brothel alone, then… he didn’t dare to think about it!

“I, for one, am going to sneak a look at my son, and I’m sure you know that Han Qiu treats my son as a member of the family. To save him, she nearly lost her life. If she finds out that you don’t care about Little Meat Bun, wow, Zhou Zongbao, your fate is worrisome…” Gu Changsheng said sympathetically, shaking his head at Zhou Zongbao, “Tsk tsk… It probably won’t end well for you…”

“You! You!” Zhou Zongbao was so angry he didn’t know what to say anymore.

“I’ll give you a day to consider it. If you decide to accompany me, meet me in front of my Cool Breeze Tower tonight at the Mao Hour,” Gu Changsheng said casually, strolling back to the mansion, before adding, “Oh, and almost forgot to say, remember to bring plenty of silver, Your Highness Prince Bao!”

Not until Gu Changsheng was far away did Zhou Zongbao move from the back door, where he stood flushed with a myriad of emotions, motionless for a long time.

The day passed without incident; come evening, Dong Lei brought news that Miss Huo of the Huo Family had been parading in public for a short while before Yuan Bao had escorted her back with his men.

Gu Changsheng heard this, nodded thoughtfully, and did not offer any opinion.

In the spirit of ‘shared joy is double joy,’ Gu Changsheng told Dong Lei about his plan to visit the Cool Breeze Bright Moon Tower in disguise to sneak a peek at his son.

After learning of it, Dong Lei was surprised at first, but then, thinking of Young Master alone in the Cool Breeze Bright Moon Tower, she felt her mistress had a legitimate reason.

After all, as the Young Master’s mother, no matter how casually she spoke, her heart was undoubtedly filled with concern.

“Mistress, do you think His Highness Prince Bao will agree?” Dong Lei asked, batting her phoenix eyes at her mistress.

“What do you think?” Gu Changsheng replied, while preparing several new types of medicinal pills.

“If you ask me, His Highness Prince Bao definitely won’t agree, ah. Mistress, it’s one thing to ask him to take you to the brothel, but to brazenly ask him to spend his silver too! Whoever it would be, no one would agree to that, right, Si Xi?” Dong Lei glanced at Si Xi for support while talking.

Upon hearing this, Si Xi began nodding like a pecking chicken, “Yes, yes, yes! I think His Highness Prince Bao won’t agree either, His Highness is not foolish!”

Gu Changsheng, squinting his phoenix eyes as he watched their firm conviction, shook his head and said, “Whether he is a fool or not, won’t we know by the Mao Hour? Xiao Leizi, go and get ready for dinner.”

“Right away, Mistress,” Dong Lei briskly bowed and headed for the kitchen as soon as she heard this.

Gu Changsheng continued sorting the medicinal pills, smelling them at the tip of his nose now and then, sometimes frowning in thought, sometimes smiling.

“Xiao Si Xi, tell Uncle Song, ask Hu Yihai and Liu Quansheng to come to the mansion tomorrow; I have matters to discuss with them,” he ordered.

“Understood!” Si Xi responded briskly, turning to proceed toward the front courtyard.

Dinner time came and the family gathered in the dining hall as usual. Only Zhou Zongbao, who gazed at Gu Changsheng now and then while eating, had a look that was hard to describe – full of resentment…

After dinner, Gu Changsheng decisively returned to his Cool Breeze Tower, instructed Si Xi to find a crescent moon white brocade robe in the storeroom, and prepared to disguise himself.

A woman visiting a house of ill-fame couldn’t very well seek out pretty courtesans, so what else was there to do for fun?

He was going to disguise himself as a man!

He wanted to see for himself what this bastion of romance that compelled countless men to spend lavishly and throw away fortunes really looked like!

After all, it had been a whole day, and his Little Meat Bun still hadn’t come home; presumably, he was having too much fun at the Cool Breeze Bright Moon Tower to think of returning!

“Mistress, can you disguise yourself?” Dong Lei asked, a bit worried.

“How would I have taught the people from Baili Mountain if I couldn’t do it myself?” Gu Changsheng couldn’t help rolling his eyes. Why did his Xiao Leizi always doubt him? Was he really that clumsy?

Hearing this response, Dong Lei pursed her lips, “Mistress, you taught them, sure, but your servants only saw you move your mouth, never saw you lift a finger!”
