Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1027: Chapter 714: Crossing the Stormy Sea Area (Part 2)

”Oh, is that so!” Xuanzhen lowered his head in thought for a moment and said, ”This place is quite suitable for me to cultivate!”

With that, he surprisingly ran to the platform at the stern of the ship, sat cross-legged, and looked intently at the howling wind and waves.

The wind grew stronger and all the sails had been lowered. The sailors had tied them securely, for in these conditions, the sails could not be opened at all. If they were, the raging winds could easily snap the mast.

As the ship ventured deeper, the wind and waves intensified.

Suddenly, a huge wave surged towards them, causing the bow to leap up, and with a crash, the sea spray slammed onto the deck.

Yang Zhenshan surged with Innate True Qi, warding off the seawater crashing towards him.

The massive waves came, with a crash of thunder following closely, and then came the pouring rain.

In the midst of the spray and rain, it was impossible to distinguish between seawater and raindrops on the deck.

In the stormy seas, the ten-zhang long ship bobbed like a small boat in the wind and rain. In such conditions, ordinary people dared not stand on the deck, and even martial artists had to be exceedingly cautious to avoid being thrown overboard.

The sailors had taken shelter in the cabin, leaving only a few Innate Martial Artists on deck.

Yang Zhenshan still stood at the bow, frowning as he gazed at the sea surface that seemed like a boiling cauldron.

The terror of this Stormy Sea Area exceeded his imagination. He was certain they were in a lull, yet the conditions even now were so frightening. What would it be like when there wasn’t a lull?

Furthermore, they were still at the edge of the Stormy Sea Area and hadn’t penetrated its depths. What horrors lay deeper within?

Luckily, their vessel was specially designed, with far superior wind and wave resistance than an ordinary warship.

From the current perspective, these waves couldn’t capsize their ship, at most just cause some turbulence.

Time passed amidst the violent swaying; staying on the ship felt like riding a roller coaster. While Yang Zhenshan coped well, the accompanying guards suffered, as they couldn’t rest no matter how they tied themselves in the cabin—it was impossible to sleep.

After days on end, everyone was exhausted both physically and mentally by the relentless storm.

However, on this day, they finally entered the depths of the Stormy Sea Area.

Wave after wave of towering waves crashed down, nearly capsizing their vessel.

”Infinite Heavenly Honored, damn, this treacherous sky is too terrifying!” Xuanzhen couldn’t help but curse, scolding the heavens.

”Look ahead, look ahead!” Chen Zhongshu suddenly cried out in alarm.

Yang Zhenshan quickly looked forward, and under the gloomy sky, the massive waves rolled in with a rhythm that made Yang Zhenshan’s scalp tingle. But what was more terrifying was the sight of a pitch-black wall advancing towards them from afar.

It was truly a wall, even taller than a city wall!

Although it was still some distance away, it was estimated to be three or four zhang high!

”We have to give it our all!” Li Shangyuan said solemnly.

Indeed, they had to fight for their lives.

It was obvious that the massive wave could surely smash their ship underwater.

It might even shatter their ship to pieces.

”You take care of the ship, I’ll get us past it!” Yang Zhenshan said to Xuanzhen.

Xuanzhen brushed his disheveled horsetail whisk and said, ”Let me get us past it instead!”

Yang Zhenshan nodded, ”Alright then!”

In such an environment, having mastery over the Wind Attribute and Water Attribute Dao Intent gave natural advantages. In comparison, the Thunder Attribute Dao Intent Yang Zhenshan cultivated wasn’t much help.

They were all prepared to gamble everything, waiting quietly for the massive wave’s arrival.

Soon, the enormous wave was upon them.

It was utterly terrifying!

The towering wave surged forward, the sensation was utterly petrifying.

”Rise for me!”

Xuanzhen let out an explosive shout, his horsetail whisk sweeping through the air, followed by a gust of wind that lifted the ship three zhang into the air.

”Still a bit short!” Yang Zhenshan stared at the wave looming so close.

”That’s all I’ve got!” Xuanzhen Taoist shouted, his face flushed.

”...”

Alright, let’s not make things difficult for this hundred-sixty or seventy-year-old gentleman.

Yang Zhenshan acted without hesitation, leaping forward, lifting his long spear, and crashing it down onto the massive wave.

Lightning flashed, thunder roared, and the pale spear light extended over ten zhang, bursting the massive wave open with a loud crash, creating a gap over ten zhang wide at its top.

But soon, the seawater behind filled the gap, and after some undulation, their ship successfully leaped over the massive wave.

”Damn it! It’s deadly!” Xuanzhen landed back on the deck, cursing again.

Using his Dao Intent to lift such a ship was by no means an easy feat. It was fortunate that Xuanzhen had a deep understanding of Wind Attribute Dao Intent, otherwise no one could accomplish this.

”There shouldn’t be a second one, right?” Yang Zhenshan looked at the sea; luckily, though the following waves were large, there weren’t any more terrifying massive waves.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

In the following days, wave after wave propelled them continuously eastward. Although they never encountered waves over three zhang high again, they still occasionally faced two-zhang or one-zhang high waves.

Until the tenth day in the Stormy Sea Area, the waves had significantly decreased.

Though the sea still seemed to be boiling, there were no more terrifying massive waves.

On the fifteenth day of their journey into the Stormy Sea Area, they finally saw a patch of clear sky.

The waves and wind persisted, but the sky was no longer overcast.

The next day, they clearly felt the wind die down significantly, allowing them to hoist the sails again.

”Hahaha~~ We’ve made it!” Li Shangyuan laughed heartily.

His face was a bit pale, and he looked quite disheveled, his clothes rumpled and covered in water stains.

He wasn’t the only one; Yang Zhenshan and the others were in similar states.

In these past days, they had been unable to eat or sleep well, constantly ready to fend off massive waves to prevent their ship from being capsized.

Though they could take turns to rest a bit, they could never truly rest at ease on the ship.

At this moment, the sailors and guards on the ship, like limp shrimps, helped each other out of the cabin.

”Oh my, we’ve survived!”

”Sob, sob, we can finally see the light of day again!”

Everyone shouted and cried, appearing utterly distressed.

”Hahaha, I’ll triple your salaries this year!” Yang Zhenshan exclaimed with joy.

Upon hearing this, everyone snapped out of their mixed laughter and tears, and enthusiastically shouted, ”Long live the Family Head!”

”Hahaha, thank our Family Head for the reward!”

They cheered one after another.

Yang Zhenshan referred to cultivation salaries, which these sailors and guards received from the Divine Wood Navy. Their cultivation was mostly at the Postnatal Seventh or Eighth Layer, so their cultivation salaries weren’t much. Even a threefold increase amounted to just a few more jars of wine and several dozen pounds of tea.

For Yang Zhenshan, this was trivial, but for them, it was quite a substantial reward.
