Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1009: Chapter 706: A Longtime Residence

”Dad!”

Seeing Yang Zhenshan coming, a few of them quickly stood up to pay their respects.

Yang Zhenshan smiled and nodded, then sat next to Yu Qingyi, ”What were you all talking about just now?”

Earlier, before he even entered the courtyard, he could hear their joyful laughter.

”We were talking about Cheng’an’s marriage!” Yu Qingyi replied with a smile.

Yang Cheng’an was born in the sixth year of Xingyue, and now it’s the twentieth year of Divine Wood, which means Yang Cheng’an is already fourteen years old, and counting his nominal age, he’s already fifteen.

At this age, it’s time to discuss marriage, although it’s still a bit early for an actual wedding.

The Yang family has a family rule that both men and women must be at least sixteen years old for marriage.

”Wasn’t Cheng’an’s marriage already settled? It’s that little girl Zhou Yunxian!” Yang Zhenshan said.

”Exactly, we were talking about that little girl! She’s on Divine Wood Island right now!” Yu Qingyi said with a laugh.

Zhou Yunxian is the grandniece of Zhou Lan, and the daughter of Zhou Yuanchen.

Previously, Zhou Lan went to Chongshan Pass to demand an explanation and proposed that the two families unite through marriage. Yang Zhenshan had no choice but to agree reluctantly.

There are few people in this world who can make Yang Zhenshan yield, but Zhou Lan happens to be one of them.

”What is the little girl like?” Yang Zhenshan asked.

Yu Qingyi looked at Mrs. Zhu with a chuckle, and Mrs. Zhu replied with a gentle smile, ”Miss Zhou is quite nice, just a bit feisty.”

”Feisty is an understatement; that girl actually beat Cheng’an up!” Yang Yunxue said with a laugh.

Yang Zhenshan raised his eyebrows, ”She beat Cheng’an up? How come?”

Then, everyone started describing the incident all at once.

This happened just a few days ago. The Zhou family had also moved back to Capital City, but they left some people on Divine Wood Island. Both Zhou Mao and Zhou Xu planned to retire on the island, and Zhou Yunxian, Cheng’an’s little fiancée, stayed there as well.

Despite her sweet looks, Zhou Yunxian had a feisty personality, an attribute somewhat akin to a violent little girl.

The engagement between the two families naturally wasn’t a secret, as it was decided by Yang Zhenshan and Zhou Lan, but they needed to inform Yang Mingzhao and Mrs. Zhu.

So the news reached Yang Cheng’an’s ears.

Being the impish child he was, upon learning he had a little fiancée, Yang Cheng’an naturally wanted to meet her.

However, at his age, he was most fond of playing pranks, and he didn’t quite understand the concept of a fiancée, treating Zhou Yunxian merely as a playmate.

He then started teasing the girl; if it had been any other docile girl, she would have been bullied to tears long ago. But Zhou Yunxian was different; she had a bit of a spoiled attitude from her time at the Duke Mansion.

Yang Cheng’an loved to make a fuss, but Zhou Yunxian wasn’t someone who would let herself be bullied, so their conflict escalated into a full-blown fight.

”Did Cheng’an lose the fight?” Yang Zhenshan asked, his eyes wide open.

Suddenly everyone quieted down, before bursting into laughter.

”What happened? Did that boy lose to a little girl? That’s just pathetic!”

”No, no!” Yang Yunxue laughed, ”Cheng’an said that men shouldn’t hit women, so he let Yunxian punch him twice.”

As she spoke, she pointed to her eye, ”Got a black eye, and it’s still swollen!”

”...”

Well, at least the kid knows how to cherish women.

Yang Zhenshan didn’t even know what to say.

Children fighting wouldn’t worry adults. Yang Zhenshan thought his grandson should be tougher, but it seemed that Cheng’an couldn’t be tough in front of this little fiancée of his.

He’s getting hit now; what if they get married and he ends up getting hit every day?

Yang Zhenshan suddenly felt a bit sorry for his little grandson, worried about giving him such a feisty wife. What if they ended up fighting all the time?

”So, what do you think of the little girl’s character?” Yang Zhenshan asked.

This time, everyone remained silent and looked towards Mrs. Zhu, who smiled and said, ”Miss Zhou is a good child. As a daughter-in-law, I find her very nice!”

”Really?” Yang Zhenshan blinked.

”Really, although Miss Zhou’s personality is a bit fiery, she’s usually quite composed, well-mannered, and has no bad habits!”

”In comparison, Cheng’an is actually more mischievous!”

Mrs. Zhu explained.

What more could Yang Zhenshan say? If the mother herself believed the engagement was suitable, he could hardly annul the marriage.

In truth, Yang Zhenshan wasn’t overly concerned about Zhou Yunxian’s character. Although the engagement was hastily arranged, it was proposed by Zhou Lan.

With Zhou Lan’s character, she wouldn’t take such matters lightly.

The marriage between the two children wasn’t a minor affair; it involved the union of two families and held significant meaning, especially crucial for the Zhou family.

Zhou Lan must have thought carefully about the proposal; she might have been planning it for some time, only bringing it up when circumstances were right.

And it was clear what Mrs. Zhu meant.

Yang Cheng’an was too unruly; he needed a strong-willed wife to keep him in line.

In light of this, Yang Zhenshan could only silently sympathize with Yang Cheng’an.

Kid, you’ll soon learn the power of having a tigress in the house!

After discussing Cheng’an’s affair, Yang Zhenshan turned to Yang Yunxue, ”Aren’t you planning to head back?”

He wasn’t trying to drive Yang Yunxue away from Divine Wood Island—if Yang Yunxue was willing to stay on the island, he would naturally welcome it—but this was ultimately a matter concerning the Liang family, and he didn’t want Yang Yunxue to offend them because of it.
