Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1020: Chapter 711: Cultivating Mutant Beasts (2)

The dozen or so young eagles before them have just hatched and are still in the training phase.

”How is it?” Yang Zhenshan walked over and asked.

Yu Qingyi cradled one of the young eagles, stood up, and laughed, ”Look at this one, isn’t it much bigger than the others!”

Yang Zhenshan looked and nodded, ”It is much bigger!”

”Yes, the bloodline of this one should have already changed, and it should grow stronger in the future!” Yu Qingyi said.

Mutant beasts are a very special existence. In the Da’an Dynasty and the Ten Thousand Miles Sea Domain, they are almost non-existent, but across the Stormy Sea Area, the Dazhao Dynasty has many mutant beasts.

As the name suggests, mutant beasts are animals that have undergone metamorphosis. They possess physiques far superior to those of their kind and have abilities different from ordinary animals.

The existence of mutant beasts might be naturally created, where regular animals gain enhanced physiques or special abilities after consuming spirit fruits.

They can also be artificially cultivated using spirit fruits and elixirs.

The abilities of mutant beasts can be genetically inherited, allowing their offspring to possess superior abilities as well.

Long ago, Yang Zhenshan had already cultivated a mutant beast, which was the Red Cloud. But at that time, he didn’t know what a mutant beast was and thought Red Cloud might turn into a demon.

Over the years, Yang Zhenshan has been collecting information from the Dazhao Dynasty and learned about the existence of mutant beasts there.

Now Yu Qingyi is cultivating mutant beasts, aiming to turn Flying Slave Eagles into mutant beasts.

Despite Yang Wanqi’s Flying Slave Eagle being larger than the others and possessing the ability to control the wind, it still isn’t a true mutant beast.

It can only be considered a pseudo-mutant beast, having the traits of a mutant beast without its strength.

It’s important to know that true mutant beasts have combat capabilities not inferior to Innate Martial Artists.

Furthermore, cultivating mutant beasts isn’t easy. It’s not just about giving a Flying Slave Eagle a lot of resources. Instead, it requires generation after generation of cultivation to gradually form a mutant beast’s bloodline, then it can be considered a true mutant beast.

Of course, there are exceptions. Red Cloud is such an exception, having consumed so many resources it now possesses a mutant beast’s bloodline, without needing generational cultivation.

Currently, the Spirit Source Land already has twelve true mutant beasts, all descendants of Red Cloud.

Dull Bighead probably also has the potential to become a mutant beast, as long as Yu Qingyi is willing to give it enough Ice Heart Fruits and Soul-attaching Pills, it could eventually become a mutant beast.

As for the Flying Slave Eagle, it depends on this young eagle in Yu Qingyi’s hands.

If carefully nurtured, it might grow into a mutant beast.

This shows that cultivating mutant beasts can be divided into two methods: The first is to amass various spirit fruits and elixirs, where enough of them can turn an ordinary animal into a mutant beast.

The second method is continuous optimization, focusing on nurturing strong offspring across generations.

The former requires a huge amount of resources, while the latter also demands some resources but much less, albeit taking longer time.

Currently, Yu Qingyi uses a combination of both methods to cultivate mutant beasts, otherwise she couldn’t have cultivated a young eagle with potential to become a mutant beast within less than a decade.

Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi observed the young eagles for a while before bringing the little young eagle back to the small courtyard.

The other young eagles were returned to the eagle’s nest.

The Spiritual Spring small courtyard has been rebuilt, now much larger and more exquisite than before.

Here, Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi have no servants around them; apart from Red Cloud and Qingxia, there are no other servants in the courtyard.

Back in the courtyard, Yang Zhenshan had a simple lunch and returned to Divine Wood Island.

The changes on Divine Wood Island over the years have not been significant, only becoming a bit more prosperous than before.

Now Yang Zhenshan has handed over the management of Divine Wood Island to Jiang He and Yang Mingzhi. Yang Mingzhi, as the Hall Master of the Foreign Affairs Hall, can’t always stay at the Spirit Source Land because he needs to deal with external matters.

Meanwhile, Jiang He remains the chief of the government office on Divine Wood Island. Although he has groomed a successor, he still needs to hold his position on the island for a while longer.

Arriving at Divine Wood Island, Yang Zhenshan walked with his hands behind his back to the government office.

”Family Head!”

The officials inside hurriedly bowed upon seeing him.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly, then walked into Jiang He’s study.

”Father! You’re here!”

Jiang He still looked the same, with a hint of white in his sideburns, and his beard was a mix of black and white.

His presence had become increasingly authoritative, exuding an aura of command.

”Yes! Have Xuanzhen Taoist and Chen Zhongshu arrived?”

”They arrived three days ago. I’ve already arranged for them to stay in the guest courtyard!” Jiang He replied.

Yang Zhenshan sat by the tea table and said, ”Is the ship ready?”

”It’s ready. We can set sail at any time!”

Yang Zhenshan thought for a moment and said, ”Then make preparations. We’ll depart in three days.”

He had been preparing to go to the Dazhao Dynasty a long time ago. If it weren’t for needing to assist with the construction of the Spirit Source Land in recent years, he would have set out long ago.

Now that the construction of the Spirit Source Land has come to a conclusion, Yang Zhenshan can finally take time to embark on a voyage.

This time, Yang Zhenshan plans to head to the Dazhao Dynasty through the Stormy Sea Area instead of going around it.

The reason, naturally, is that circling around the Stormy Sea Area takes too long.

Though the Stormy Sea Area is dangerous, going around it presents many challenges as well.

On a journey spanning tens of thousands of miles, who knows what troubles may arise along the way.

Yang Zhenshan has some confidence in crossing the Stormy Sea Area because he possesses certain advantages others don’t. First, he can predict weather patterns; the winds in the Stormy Sea Area are erratic and hard to predict using conventional experience, but Yang Zhenshan can predict them accurately.

Additionally, having consumed a Sea Dragon Pill, he can stay underwater for a long time. The undercurrent is very complex, but it’s better than the surface waves.

If nothing works, Yang Zhenshan can swim underwater past the area.

This might sound incredible, but don’t forget Yang Zhenshan has the Spiritual Spring Space.

He can rest inside the Spiritual Spring Space when tired, and eat there when hungry. It might take more time but certainly less than going around the Stormy Sea Area.

If faced with danger, Yang Zhenshan can store the ship in the Spiritual Spring Space and proceed on foot.

This is a last-resort method. If possible, he would still prefer to sail over.

After leaving the government office, Yang Zhenshan found Xuanzhen Taoist.

This voyage is ostensibly led by Yang Zhenshan with Xuanzhen Taoist, An Yuxing, Chen Zhongshu, and Lv Hua, but in reality, Yang Zhenshan is taking over 50,000 people in the Spiritual Spring Space with him.

The reason for this arrangement is solely due to the special nature of Xuanzhen Taoist.

If possible, Yang Zhenshan wouldn’t want Xuanzhen Taoist to know about the existence of the Spiritual Spring Space.

Xuanzhen Taoist isn’t just anyone; behind him is the Wuzhen Taoist Palace, and he would never join the Yang family.

Moreover, Xuanzhen Taoist’s strength is not to be underestimated by Yang Zhenshan.

This old taoist is over 160 years old, with strength at an unfathomable level. Even Yang Zhenshan isn’t confident he could defeat him.

If possible, Yang Zhenshan wouldn’t want to take this old taoist along, but since he came knocking, it was hard to refuse, so he had to take him along.
