Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1003: Chapter 703: Second Young Master Is Absolutely Ruthless! (Part 2)

He didn’t want to follow Yang Mingzhi to clean up the battlefield; he still wanted to catch up to Yang Mingzhi and fight shoulder to shoulder.

However, his wish was likely difficult to achieve because Yang Mingzhi had already moved the battlefield. Most of the Tatar Tribe had been annihilated, and the remaining tribes were fleeing in all directions.

Yang Mingzhi was too lazy to chase the fleeing Tatars; his target had shifted to the Chi Ci Tribe.

However, dealing with the Chi Ci Tribe couldn’t be like with the Tatar Tribe, by first attacking their banner land.

The fighting with the Tatars had already reached the Chi Ci Tribe, and they had made preparations to face the battle.

No matter how reckless Yang Mingzhi was, he couldn’t lead two thousand soldiers to attack a city with forty or fifty thousand troops, so he changed tactics with the Chi Ci Tribe. He didn’t go to their banner land first but targeted the small and medium tribes instead.

The small and medium tribes had virtually no resistance against him; they were like a bulldozer flattening all the small and medium tribes they encountered.

As the slaughter increased, the ferocity of the two thousand Divine Wood Soldiers spread far and wide.

At this time, few outside knew the details of these two thousand Divine Wood Soldiers, only that they were an archer unit, not numerous, but extremely fierce in battle. Few could escape their arrows.

They were like cruel reapers, harvesting lives across this vast land.

The Tatars and Chi Ci Tribe members gave them names like Reaper, Demon, and Butcher.

By mid-September, Yang Mingzhi had led the two thousand Divine Wood Soldiers to rampage around the Menghe Mountains for over half a month.

The Tatar Tribe had become a thing of the past under his hand; there was no longer a Tatar Tribe in this world.

Though many in the Tatar Tribe were still fleeing, without their banner lands and tribes, they were no longer Tatar Tribe members.

They faced only two fates: either freeze to death in the coming winter or join other tribes and become members of those tribes.

The Chi Ci Tribe would soon become a thing of the past as well.

On September 18th, Yang Mingzhi led two thousand Divine Wood Soldiers to the Chi Ci Tribe’s banner land, Kuku City.

Kuku City, also known as Kuku Fortress, stands beside the Menghe Mountains, with green mountains as a screen to the east and vast grasslands to the west, and a river encircling the city, known as Qingshan River.

When spring arrives, the place is full of beautiful scenery, with green grass waving like waves. From a distance, the city looks like it’s embedded in a green ribbon, hence the name Kuku City.

Connected to the Menghe Mountain Pass, Kuku City is a border fortress with walls higher than Chongshan Pass.

Initially a small tribe, Kuku City’s beautiful landscape, fertile land, and rich resources from the Menghe Mountains led to its growth over centuries into the Chi Ci Tribe, with Kuku City rising along with it, and three more passes added in the Menghe Mountain Pass.

If Yemi City is the largest and most prosperous city of the Wuliang Hu Clan, then Kuku City is its most majestic.

To capture such a city is no easy feat, but Yang Mingzhi is not in a hurry.

Currently, Kuku City is crowded. Many Northern barbarians from tribes eradicated by the Divine Wood Soldiers have fled here, along with people from various tribes under the Chi Ci Tribe and many from the Tatar Tribe.

Even without considering the Northern barbarians stationed in the Menghe Mountain Pass, the city population exceeds three hundred thousand.

Conquering the Tatar Tribe banner land with only two thousand troops was thanks to Yang Mingzhi’s initial advantage. Now, he faces a city with a population of three hundred thousand, well-prepared for defense, and capturing it as before is almost impossible.

However, Kuku City is already within Yang Mingzhi’s grasp.

From the Tatar Tribe to here, and within a hundred-mile radius, all tribes have been flattened by Yang Mingzhi.

This means that Kuku City has become a solitary city.

Meanwhile, in Chongshan Town, Han Fei is leading thirty thousand troops on the way, with five thousand new troops and over a hundred thousand civilian workers following.

Once the army arrives, the fall of Kuku City becomes only a matter of time.

Kuku City’s fate is sealed, and the Wanggu Tribe’s downfall is also on countdown.

Though Beiyuan Town lacks elite soldiers, it has an army of sixty thousand, while the Wanggu Tribe, despite its strength, has dispatched many troops to the Wuliang army camp.

Currently, both sides have nearly equal troops, but Beiyuan Town also has many excellent generals.

Even though Song Dashan, Yang Chengze, and others couldn’t charge into battle due to their status as Innate Martial Artists, Beiyuan Town still had many strong fighters.

Postnatal Eighth Layer and Ninth Layer fighters were numerous, with even two at Half-step Innate.

These powerful fighters had a significant impact on the battle.

On September 22nd.

A hundred miles south of the Wanggu Tribe banner land, both armies stood in formation, facing each other.

Song Dashan wasn’t skilled in strange tactics and had no elaborate strategies to employ, and he preferred to defeat the enemy honorably in straightforward combat.

The Wanggu Tribe was different from the Tatar Tribe; the Tatars couldn’t accurately monitor Chongshan Town’s movements, but the Wanggu Tribe could precisely track Beiyuan Town’s troop movements.

This wasn’t because the Wanggu Tribe had planted spies in Beiyuan Town; rather, the borders between the Wanggu Tribe and Beiyuan Town were interlocked, with both sides setting many sentries at the border, so any massive troop movements couldn’t be hidden.

Before Beiyuan Town’s army even crossed the border, the Wanggu Tribe had already received the news and prepared for battle.

The Wanggu Tribe had no cities to defend, so they could only battle Beiyuan Town in open warfare, which suited Song Dashan perfectly.

On the battlefield, a deadly atmosphere filled the sky and earth, with the combined forces of 130,000 engaging in fierce combat on this lush green plain.

The Wanggu Tribe had many cavalry, but Beiyuan Town wasn’t short of cavalry either.

The central and frontline armies clashed directly, while the cavalry on both flanks maneuvered around, looking for opportunities to join the battle.

With the roar of war drums, both sides’ soldiers clashed like waves.

In the blink of an eye, the front soldiers fell in droves.

The Wanggu Tribe had its advantages, and Beiyuan Town had theirs.

The Wanggu Tribe had more cavalry, but Beiyuan Town had plenty of crossbows.

Crossbow Arrows fell like hail into the enemy ranks, piercing through both riders and horses of the Northern barbarians.

Meanwhile, more than ten thousand Northern barbarians on the left flank charged into Beiyuan Town’s central army formation, where a brutal slaughter unfolded.

”Kill!”

Shouts and screams echoed continuously.

Bodies fell one after another, severed limbs flying, and crimson blood stained the verdant grassland.

As the battle continued, the corpses on the grass grew in number, and more blood soaked the land.

Song Dashan stood under the main banner, holding a telescope, observing the battlefield with a cold, determined expression on his face.

Though Song Dashan lacked tactical ingenuity, he was a competent general and commander.

For a general to succeed, countless bones had to perish!

A commander must not possess tenderheartedness.

Loving soldiers like one’s own children is right, but when it comes to fighting fiercely, one must also be able to send one’s own men to the front lines.

He was a veteran commander, accustomed to the brutality of war, so seeing the falling soldiers did not stir much emotion in him; he calmly and steadily directed the ongoing battle.

”Order the central heavy cavalry to engage!” Song Dashan commanded solemnly.

Immediately, the messenger behind him took out a flag and waved it, followed by the deep sound of a horn.

In the next moment, a unit of heavily armored cavalry emerged from the right flank of the central army, charging towards the enemy’s central formation.
