Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 783: Chapter 595 Year 13 of Xingyue, Bountiful Harvests_2

As a result, Liang Chu had not yet become an Innate Martial Artist.

Seeing the embarrassed expression on Liang Chu’s face, Liang Shengze spoke unhappily: ”What? Am I not allowed to speak the truth? If you don’t focus on cultivating, you will soon be surpassed by your daughter-in-law!”

Liang Chu replied awkwardly, ”The Yang’s talent is extraordinary, grandson is far inferior to her!”

Liang Chu’s daughter-in-law is naturally Yang Yunxue. Now in her thirties, Yang Yunxue’s cultivation has reached the Postnatal Eighth Layer. Although she is still far from reaching the Innate Realm, her progress cannot be called anything but swift.

”Then resign from your official post and focus on cultivating. You still have a great chance to reach the Innate Realm!” said Liang Shengze.

”Yes, grandson will keep Grandfather’s teachings in mind!” What else could Liang Chu say? He obediently followed the advice.

So, Liang Chu resigned from his position and began cultivating earnestly at home.

The court turmoil continued endlessly, while the banks of Ru River saw several hundred miles covered in marshland.

However, none of these matters concerned Yang Zhenshan.

In the spring of the ninth year of Yanping, Yang Mingcheng broke through to the Innate Realm, becoming the third Innate Martial Artist of the Yang family.

Immediately after his breakthrough, Yang Mingcheng passed on his title to Yang Chengye. Before the imperial edict could even reach Chongshan Town, Yang Mingcheng headed to Star Moon Island with his family.

Only a handful of servants were left to watch over the Marquis Jing’an Mansion in the Capital City.

For this, Yang Zhenshan felt quite helpless; his adopted son was too filial and could not spend a day away from him, his adoptive father.

In the main hall of the Yang family on Star Moon Island,

Yang Zhenshan looked at Yang Mingcheng, ”Do you despise the Capital City so much?”

Yang Mingcheng smiled naively: ”Son doesn’t despise the Capital City, it’s just hard to part with Dad and Mom. If Dad isn’t in the Capital City, son always feels uneasy!”

The initial statement was probably false; the later was truly why he hurriedly came to Star Moon Island.

Being a Marquis in the murky court where people incessantly approached him to discuss various complicated matters had made him very uncomfortable. It was wiser to flee first.

Yang Zhenshan shook his head slightly, then turned to Ms. Wang, ”Why didn’t you stop him? Once he hands over the title to Chengye, you’re no longer the Marchioness!”

Ms. Wang chuckled, ”Let the daughter-in-law have her fun; being a daughter-in-law to Dad and Mom is better than being a Marchioness!”

Oh well, it’s rare for the eldest daughter-in-law to utter such agreeable words.

Yang Zhenshan laughed, ”That’s fine, since you’re here, settle down. The neighboring courtyard is still vacant; you all can live there!”

Actually, he had been waiting for Yang Mingcheng to come to Star Moon Island. The three courtyards nearby were always unoccupied, reserved for the three brothers: Yang Mingcheng, Yang Mingzhi, and Yang Minghao.

After Yang Mingcheng became an Innate Martial Artist, in the winter of the ninth year of Yanping, Luo Jingsong also achieved a breakthrough.

In the following years, the members of the Yang family seemed to break through in succession.

In the summer of the twelfth year of Yanping, Ding Qiu broke through to the Innate Realm, becoming an Innate Martial Artist.

In the spring of the thirteenth year of Yanping, Wu Zhan broke through to the Innate Realm, becoming an Innate Martial Artist.

In the spring of the fifteenth year of Yanping, Wu Zheng achieved his breakthrough.

In the sixteenth year, Yang Minghao and Yang Mingzhi successively had their breakthroughs and resigned their official posts to come to Star Moon Island.

Then, Yu Tonghai, Yang Mingwu, Yang Chengze, Yang Mingzhen, Yang Chengxu, Yang Chengche, Yang Qinwu consecutively achieved breakthroughs becoming Innate Martial Artists.

After thirty years of establishment in this world, Yang Zhenshan finally reached a time of fruitful achievements.

It was the twentieth year of Yanping, the thirteenth year of Star Moon.

On the third day of June.

Out at sea by Star Moon Island, a small boat floated on the shimmering surface.

Yang Zhenshan sat on the boat, wearing a broad-brimmed hat, holding a purple bamboo fishing rod.

Beside him sat a child about seven or eight years old, who lay in the cabin with a dejected expression.

”Grandpa, I need to pee!”

”Just pee off the side of the boat!” Yang Zhenshan said motionlessly.

The child pouted, stood at the bow, and began peeing into the sea.

While peeing, he looked at the motionless Yang Zhenshan, and suddenly, his eyes flicked, then his tiny body plunged into the sea.

”Ah, grandpa, save me!”

He cried out in panic, but before he finished his sentence, he was already floating on the sea surface.

He didn’t fall into the water, but rather seemed to land on a bunch of soft cotton, gently floating in mid-air.

”Kid, playing tricks with your grandpa, you’re still too young!” Yang Zhenshan said unmoved.

The child giggled and climbed back onto the boat, ”I knew Grandpa would save me!”

Yang Zhenshan ignored him.

The child ran to Yang Zhenshan’s side, hugging his shoulders, ”Grandpa, let’s go home, it’s too hot here!”

”No!” said Yang Zhenshan.

”Let’s go back, I promise I won’t tease Shi’er anymore!” the child pleaded.

The child here is Yang Mingzhao’s son, Yang Cheng’an, the actual grandson of Yang Zhenshan, not an adopted one.

Shi’er mentioned is the daughter of Yang Chengyou, Yang Ruoshi.

Yang Zhenshan finally made a move, looking at him, ”Why did you bully Shi’er?”

”Grandson didn’t bully Shi’er!” Yang Cheng’an quickly denied.

”You made her cry and still say you didn’t bully her!” Yang Zhenshan was somewhat speechless.

”I didn’t hit her on purpose!”

”Not on purpose?”

”Um~~” Yang Cheng’an lowered his head, ”I just wanted to tease her a bit, who knew she would cry so easily!”

Yang Zhenshan was speechless again.

This kid really can’t stay out of trouble.

”Let’s go, once we get back, you need to apologize to Shi’er!”

”Ah, I have to apologize? Isn’t Shi’er my niece? Since when do elders apologize to the younger?”

”You still know you’re an elder!”

”Of course!”

”Since you know you’re an elder, you should act like one. Know your mistakes and correct them!”

”Grandpa, can we not go?”

Yang Zhenshan chuckled, ”Then we won’t go back for now. Let’s wait until it gets dark before returning!”

”But I’m hungry!”

”Then have a peach!” Yang Zhenshan took a peach and handed it to him.

Yang Cheng’an looked miserably at the peach and then at Yang Zhenshan, ”Let’s just go back, I’ll apologize to Shi’er, alright!”

”Hahaha, if you dare tease Shi’er again in the future, Grandpa will take you fishing every day!” said Yang Zhenshan.

For an active child, fishing is not a fun activity, especially fishing on such a small boat, it’s practically like being in prison.

”I won’t tease Shi’er ever again!” Yang Cheng’an said fearfully.

Yang Zhenshan stopped lecturing him and said: ”Alright, let’s head back!”

With those words, he rowed the oar towards Star Moon Island.

The small boat slowly drifted on the boundless sea, with only a small shadow of Star Moon Island in the distance.

Yang Cheng’an looked at that tiny shadow, his gaze longing.

”Grandpa, can’t we just fly back?”

Yang Zhenshan laughed, ”Just teasing you!”

”...”

Yang Cheng’an looked sullenly at his grandpa, feeling that his grandpa was even more childish than him.

Yang Zhenshan stretched out his hand to take the boat into the Spiritual Spring Space, holding Yang Cheng’an, and sped across the sea as if on level ground.

His figure on the shimmering sea surface was like a streak of aqua light, covering several miles in a blink.

In just a few breaths, they had already reached Star Moon Island.

”Wow~~ so fast!”

Yang Cheng’an, who had been frowning earlier, yelled excitedly.

”Grandpa, fly a bit longer!”

”No more flying, let’s go home!”

Yang Zhenshan was not indulgent at all, placing him on the ground, ”Walk back by yourself!”

Yang Cheng’an pouted again.

Yang Zhenshan ignored him, and casually walked towards the direction of Star Moon City.

The sun was blazing, and the small figure sighed and followed behind.

It took them forty-five minutes to walk into Star Moon City, which had already removed its walls, and many new buildings had been added, significantly expanding its area.

Calling it a city would be inappropriate; it resembled a very large town.

The island’s population had grown considerably, mainly due to the amount of people who had moved to Star Moon Island over the years, many buying properties.

Aside from the Yang family, Xie Yuan, Han Cheng, Wu Chongzhe, and others had also moved to the island, all of them having retired from their posts earlier, now living their retirement on the island.

Additionally, Yu Tonghai, Song Dashan, Lu Wenhua, Lin Zhan, Yang Mingwu, and others also bought houses on the island, planning to retire here later.

They hadn’t come to retire yet, but they sent many of their grandchildren over.

So, as there weren’t enough houses in the city, Yang Zhenshan had no choice but to have the government build some more.

The city streets were bustling, many villagers from nearby areas came to buy daily necessities.

Walking along the street with Yang Cheng’an, many people saw him and bowed slightly in greeting.

By now, everyone on the island knew he was the Island Master, and the citizens held tremendous respect for him; initially, many knelt upon seeing him, which made him reluctant to even leave his house.

Later, he had to forcefully decree that no one should kneel upon seeing him, just bow slightly, only then did it become easier for him to go out.
