Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 774: Chapter 591 Xingyue First Year

”What’s going on?”

On the dock, Yang Zhenshan pulled Luo Jingsong aside and asked.

Luo Jingsong, somewhat helpless, said: ”Mr. Yu said young people are good, young people are obedient and easy to manage.”

”What the hell?” Yang Zhenshan was a bit stunned, ”These kids aren’t abducted, are they?”

”No, no, they are all children of the Tenglong Guard soldiers!” Luo Jingsong replied.

”Then why did they all send their children here?” Yang Zhenshan asked.

Luo Jingsong thought for a moment and said: ”Probably because there are too many children in Tenglong Guard!”

Yang Zhenshan blinked, still somewhat confused.

Luo Jingsong explained: ”Many soldiers in Tenglong Guard have six or seven children!”

Yang Zhenshan seemed to understand, but also as if he didn’t quite catch it.

Actually, this had a lot to do with him.

He took the position of Commander of the Tenglong Guard in the twenty-ninth year of Chengping, and now it’s the seventh year of Yanping, thirteen months have passed since then.

He made sure the military households in Tenglong Guard had enough to eat, becoming prosperous.

Once the problem of food and clothing was solved, what would come next?

Naturally, having children!

Yang Zhenshan invested a lot of Spiritual Spring Water into Tenglong Guard, not only nourishing the soldiers and officers, but also women and children could benefit from the Spiritual Spring Water.

With women’s and children’s health improved, women were less likely to have miscarriages, children less likely to die young, which greatly increased the fertility rate of the military households in Tenglong Guard.

With economic and physical conditions permitting, these years you can see children tumbling around everywhere in Tenglong Guard.

And the largest batch of these children are now about twelve or thirteen years old.

Older soldiers had two or three children in these years, but the younger soldiers would have six or seven!

But now there’s a problem, there’s only so much land in Tenglong Guard, only so much land for farming.

With so many children, it’s going to be hard for them to get land in the future.

Although most Tenglong Guard military households now rely on sea trade, the land is still their foundation.

Seeing their own landed property may not be enough for their children in the future, they naturally wanted to find ways to buy more land.

Thus, in recent years, the military households of Tenglong Guard have bought a fair amount of land in nearby Qinghua Prefecture, Jing’an Prefecture, and Liao’an Prefecture, but even so, some soldiers still don’t have enough land for their children.

Originally everyone thought about earning more Silver to buy more land, but upon hearing that moving to Star Moon Island would mean land allocation, why bother buying land? Just send the children to Star Moon Island.

As for whether they worry about the children’s safety, don’t joke, if they don’t trust others, would they not trust Yang Zhenshan?

Thus, quite a few people from Tenglong Guard sent their children after getting the news.

Even many mid to low-level officers of Tenglong Guard sent their children.

Hearing Luo Jingsong’s explanation, Yang Zhenshan didn’t even know what to say!

Isn’t this nonsensical?

I wanted farmers, and you bring me a bunch of kids?

Can these kids farm now?

Yang Zhenshan looked expressionlessly at Luo Jingsong, who somewhat guiltily said: ”Island Master, these kids are all over ten years old, give them a few years and they can become Martial Artists, then they can all be soldiers of the Navy!”

”Did you discuss this with Yu Tonghai?” Yang Zhenshan asked.

Luo Jingsong quickly shook his head, very unloyally pushing the blame to Yu Tonghai.

”No, no, it’s all arranged by Mr. Yu!”

Yang Zhenshan looked at those young men and women disembarking, really out of anger.

Yu Tonghai probably wanted to solve some internal issues of Tenglong Guard; after all, having too many children is also a big problem.

Luo Jingsong’s ideas are much simpler; with so few people on Star Moon Island, how could he expand his Navy?

Now with this batch of youths, expanding the Navy becomes much easier.

Let Yang Zhenshan train them for a few years, and these youth will surely become Martial Artists, by then his Navy can be expanded.

He has a lot of confidence in Yang Zhenshan’s abilities.

Damn it!

What more could Yang Zhenshan say, he can’t possibly send these children back.

”Do these children know how to read and write?” he asked.

Luo Jingsong said: ”Of course, which child from Tenglong Guard doesn’t know how to read and write!”

No words of Yang Zhenshan: ”Let Jiang He arrange accommodations for them and then arrange for teachers to instruct them!”

”By the way, are there enough supplies on the island?”

There was no shortage of places to stay on Star Moon Island, if not inside the city, there were plenty of houses outside.

After all, there were once over forty thousand people living on Star Moon Island, and now there are less than ten thousand people, several villages at the foot of the mountain are unoccupied.

”Enough, haha, Mr. Yu has prepared everything, clothes, blankets, ink-brush-paper-inkstone, weapons, and food, enough for these children for three years!” Luo Jingsong said.

Yang Zhenshan yet again felt helpless, ”Wouldn’t the food go moldy if stored for three years?”

”You go and find Jiang He, have him come over and arrange these kids!”

Busy times for Jiang He!

With so many children, although they should be capable of living independently, they definitely still need care.

There are not many people on the island, and taking care of so many kids is a big issue.

”Next time find some ordinary farmers to move here, at the very least don’t let the island’s fields lie fallow!”

Yang Zhenshan looked at those fallow fields, feeling quite uncomfortable, good lands unattended, isn’t this a waste?

Luo Jingsong thought for a moment, ”Island Master, how about moving some people over from Fuhai?”

Yang Zhenshan said, ”That’s fine, as long as they are honest folks. Also, buy some livestock and poultry for the island’s farmers to raise, I now can’t even find a place to buy mutton!”
