Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 745: Chapter 576 Just for This Moment_2

At the city gate, a dozen Hu Clan soldiers were pushing the gate with all their might. It was only two feet away from closing when suddenly a tremendous force slammed into it fiercely.

Bang! The dozen Hu Clan soldiers staggered two steps backward simultaneously; one even lost his balance and sat down hard on the ground.

A Hu Clan soldier standing by the gate had his pupils contract sharply as he saw a short spear forcefully shot into the gate.

The three-inch-thick gate was actually pierced by the short spear.

”Quick, close the gate!” someone on the city wall roared angrily.

Finally coming to their senses, the dozen Hu Clan soldiers again pushed the hefty gate, their faces reddening and almost exerting their full strength.

But just as they moved the gate, another overwhelming force bombarded it. This time, they were even less prepared as they were sent flying by the force through the gate.

However, at this moment, dozens more Hu Clan soldiers surged from behind the gate. Ignoring their fallen comrades, they swarmed forward, trying to close the gate.

Boom, boom, boom~~

One short spear after another flew in, and successive impacts prevented dozens of Hu Clan soldiers from closing the gate.

Still, there’s strength in numbers. They weren’t sent flying this time and, in a tight squeeze, finally closed the gate.

The gate was firmly shut, with dozens blocking behind it, but before they could even take a breath of relief, an even more imposing and wild force came from the just-closed gate.

”Open up for me!”

A thunderous roar erupted, and the closed gate was violently flung open.

The Hu Clan soldiers at the gate instantly fell to the ground in disarray.

Neigh~~

A loud, clear whinny sounded, and a war horse burst through the gap in the gate. The agile warhorse soared into the air, leaping over dozens of Hu Clan soldiers below.

Immediately after, the sound of horse hooves was incessant as countless warhorses poured into the gate.

The Hu Clan soldiers on the ground hadn’t even had the time to react before they were trampled dead by the rushing hooves.

The ground was covered in flesh and blood like minced meat filling the gateway.

Woo woo woo~~~

The continuous sound of horns echoed, with four signalmen standing on both sides outside the city gate, frantically blowing their horns.

Countless soldiers flowed in like a torrent, unstoppable as they entered the city.

Yang Zhenshan reined in his horse in the wide streets inside Yemi City, watching the soldiers flooding in from behind, his eyes shone, his beard fluttered, and a faint smile curled on his face.

A month’s hard ride, all for this day.

So much hardship endured, so many tribulations suffered, all for this moment.

Yemi City was not large; although it is the King City of the Wuliang Royal Court, the Wuliang Hu Clan were not skilled in city-building, and their King City was barely a prefecture city in comparison with Da Rong.

It was comparable to a prefectural city in Qinghua Prefecture, far inferior to Chongshan Pass.

There weren’t many residents in the city, about twenty or thirty thousand people at most. In addition to the Wuliang King’s clan, most were the nobility of the Wuliang Royal Court.

The palace of the King Wuliang alone occupied one third of the area, with the remainder being mansions. Both the palace and the mansions were constructed imitating the style of Da Rong.

”Kill!”

As the cries of killing rose, Song Dashan had already ascended the city wall, leading the soldiers in wanton slaughter of the Hu Clan soldiers.

Inside the city, panic and fear spread as innumerable nobles and servants of the Hu Clan scurried about in terror.

With more and more soldiers pouring into the city, the sound of killing soon spread to every corner inside.

Yang Zhenshan suddenly raised his head, his gaze turning toward the palace.

There, a figure was darting toward him.

An Innate Martial Artist!

Yang Zhenshan patted his horse’s back, ”Take care of yourself!”

As his words fell, he sprang forward, heading straight for the approaching figure.

Neighhh!!

Red Cloud let out a whinny, which seemed to carry a hint of delight.

It didn’t seek a place to hide but instead followed the surging soldiers into the city towards the west.

Meeting an enemy, it would strike with its front hooves and kick with its hind legs. Any enemy struck by it would have their bones shattered.

Yang Zhenshan was faced with an Innate Martial Artist, a monk draped in a red kasaya. The Wuliang Hu Clan were devout Buddhists, even treating Buddhism as the state religion.

The status of monks among the Wuliang Hu Clan is high, which is different from Da Rong.

Yang Zhenshan knew the monk in front of him—Master Zhi Xuan, the State Preceptor of the Wuliang Royal Court.

”Amitabha!”

Master Zhi Xuan chanted upon seeing Yang Zhenshan.

”Put down the butcher’s knife and become a Buddha at once!”

Yang Zhenshan looked at him, puzzled by the great monk’s seemingly nonsensical words.

Put down the butcher’s knife?

Wasn’t that absurd?

Also, why didn’t the great monk advise Wu Tuo to do the same?

Yang Zhenshan couldn’t be bothered to argue, thrusting his spear like a shooting rainbow.

Master Zhi Xuan had wanted to say more, but Yang Zhenshan didn’t give him the chance to speak, leaving him no choice but to strike back with a palm.

Ding~~

The spear tip met Master Zhi Xuan’s palm but couldn’t penetrate even a fraction of an inch.

His palm shone with golden light, faintly hinting at some supernatural power.

Yang Zhenshan wasn’t surprised; though it was his first encounter with Master Zhi Xuan, he knew that Master Zhi Xuan was a contemporary of An Xingyu.

His strength might well be on par with An Xingyu’s.

As for Buddhist cultivation techniques, they differ subtly from regular Martial Arts techniques.

Buddhist techniques focus more on physical training and mental cultivation, particularly excelling in body refinement.

The two figures darted among the grand yet not quite exquisite residences.

While fighting Master Zhi Xuan, Yang Zhenshan kept an eye on the surroundings.

The city’s battle was at its fiercest, with many stationed elite soldiers from the Wuliang Royal Court. In addition to the garrison, the residences of the Wuliang nobility housed many servant-like guards with formidable strength.

Furthermore, the gates of the King City were closed, with the imperial guard standing firmly in defense.

However, they were still no match for the voracious soldiers from Chongshan Town.

The soldiers, frustrated for nearly a month, were now like hungry wolves unleashed, rampaging through the city.

Especially when the heavily armored foot soldiers and Iron Armor Heavy Cavalry entered the city, they effortlessly swept away all enemies.

After observing for a while, Yang Zhenshan was certain that there were no other Innate Martial Artists in the city apart from Master Zhi Xuan before him.

With this, the outcome of the battle had no more uncertainties.

Yang Zhenshan refocused on confronting Master Zhi Xuan.

The great monk was powerful, with palms as hard as steel capable of crushing gold and jade, and his slightly chubby body extraordinarily sturdy, each move imbued with fierce power and an endless flow of Innate True Qi.

Alas, he remained merely an Innate Martial Artist.

Though he had profound comprehension of the Mystical Mechanism and a detailed grasp of Innate True Qi, his understanding of the Buddhist path was not deep enough.

Yang Zhenshan held the Mystical Iron Spear, twirling and flipping it unpredictably, squinting slightly as he repeatedly thrust the spear tip, forcing Master Zhi Xuan to retreat.

Suddenly, Yang Zhenshan took a half-step retreat into the air, but the spear tip stretched forward by a foot – this thrust was faster, nearly reaching its limit.

Thunderbolt Strike!

Master Zhi Xuan had been focusing on countering Yang Zhenshan’s thrusts, accustomed to the prior rhythm; startled by the sudden acceleration, he failed to react in time.

The spear tip, glowing with an azure light like a bolt of lightning, pierced fiercely into Master Zhi Xuan’s abdomen.

With a pfft, the spear infiltrated his belly, the thick flesh powerless to stop the sharp spear tip.

Master Zhi Xuan felt a wrenching pain in his belly as his hands instinctively gripped the spear shaft.

”You!”

He looked at Yang Zhenshan in shock.

With a calm expression, Yang Zhenshan’s eyes were indifferent, ”To die by this spear, you should die without regrets.”

That was the first and only thing Yang Zhenshan said to Master Zhi Xuan.

He withdrew the spear, then thrust its tip upward into Master Zhi Xuan’s chest.

Master Zhi Xuan still gripped the spear shaft; his thick palms clutched it tightly with a faint golden light swirling around, a light that gradually dimmed.

”Is this the so-called path?”

Master Zhi Xuan asked.

Yang Zhenshan looked at him dispassionately, with no intention of answering.

He never liked to talk much with the dead.
