Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 721: Chapter 566: Regaining Control of Chongshan Town

”Marquis, someone from the palace has come to invite you to an audience with His Majesty!” Lu Shou said softly outside the door.

”I know, prepare my regular attire!” Yang Zhenshan folded the letter and said in a deep voice, ”Clean up here afterward!”

”Yes!”

Lu Shou responded and quickly got Yang Zhenshan changed into his regular clothes.

Dressed in his regular attire, Yang Zhenshan arrived at the Imperial City, his anger still not dissipated, his body exuding a thick aura of killing intent.

Upon entering the Imperial City, the personal army soldiers guarding the city gate were so startled that they hesitated to let him inside.

Of course, the soldiers and the personal army did not actually stop Yang Zhenshan from entering.

When he reached the front of the Taiji Palace, Chen Zhongshu just happened to see him coming, ”Marquis, please try to restrain some of the killing aura. We do not want to disturb His Majesty!”

He naturally did not suspect Yang Zhenshan would harm Emperor Yanping, he was just worried that Yang Zhenshan’s killing aura might alarm the Emperor.

Yang Zhenshan took a deep breath and said, ”Thank you for your concern, Chen!”

”Marquis, please!” Chen Zhongshu smiled and said.

Afterward, Yang Zhenshan entered the Imperial Study Room, and although he restrained his killing aura, his face still looked very grim, giving off an aura of distant hostility.

A few senior officials glanced at him and felt nervous inside.

This gentleman is angry!

Emperor Yanping also noticed Yang Zhenshan’s expression and said, ”Marquis Jing’an knows!”

”My son sent an urgent letter!” Yang Zhenshan said.

Emperor Yanping nodded, unconcerned, and handed him two urgent reports, saying, ”It’s not just Chongshan Town. Beiyuan Town is also under major attack from the Wuliang Hu Clan!”

Yang Zhenshan started to read the urgent reports.

Shortly, Emperor Yanping said, ”Do you have any thoughts, my vassal?”

Yang Zhenshan, looking at the urgent reports in his hand, said, ”If the Wuliang Hu Clan dares to launch a major attack on our frontier, then our dynasty must surely fight tooth for tooth, blood for blood!”

Emperor Yanping asked, ”Then do you have confidence in repelling the Wuliang Hu Clan and supporting Beiyuan Town?”

Yang Zhenshan did not answer his question, but said in a deep voice, ”Your Majesty, if you trust this old servant, then let this old servant command Chongshan Town!”

Support Beiyuan Town?

What a joke!

Merely repelling the Wuliang Hu Clan, how could that quell the anger in his heart?

His only target was to exterminate the Wuliang Hu Clan.

Until the Wuliang Hu Clan is destroyed, his heart’s hatred wouldn’t be resolved!

Emperor Yanping thought for a moment, ”Alright, I grant you the Imperial command flag; you’ll command Chongshan Town and dispatch troops to support Chongshan Town!”

”This servant obeys the order, no time to delay, I will depart today!” Yang Zhenshan said.

Emperor Yanping said, ”There’s no need to rush; the court still has to allocate funds and grain, and since the Wuliang Hu Clan also has Innate Martial Artists, I still need to summon Innate Martial Artists to mobilize with the army!”

Yang Zhenshan however said, ”The governmental ministries can handle the allocation of funds and grain. I need to go to Chongshan Town first to stabilize the situation and prevent any chaos from arising!”

Emperor Yanping felt that made sense and agreed, ”Fine, then you prepare and depart!”

Yang Zhenshan took his leave and then exited the Imperial Study Room, waiting for a moment in front of the doors of the Taiji Palace.

Chen Zhongshu quickly brought over an imperial decree, and Yang Zhenshan collected the Imperial command flag from the Ministry of War and then hurried home.

”Chengye, Chengmao, Mingzhe, where are they?” Yang Zhenshan returned to the Marquis Mansion and asked Lu Shou.

Lu Shou quickly replied, ”My lord, the young masters have already come back, they are currently speaking in the main hall!”

Yang Zhenshan said, ”Tell the three of them to get ready, we’ll depart for Chongshan Town soon! By the way, has the Guard Camp arrived?”

”They’ve arrived; all troops and horses are ready to depart at any time!” Lu Shou replied.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly, ”That’s good; you go arrange it!”

”Yes!” Lu Shou replied.

Yang Zhenshan quickly went to the main courtyard, where Yu Qingyi, already aware that something was afoot, was waiting in the main hall. Seeing him approach, she quickly asked, ”What happened?”

”The Wuliang Hu Clan is launching a major attack on Beiyuan Town, Pang Tang was assassinated, Zhou Lan is poisoned and in a coma, and Yun Qiao is also poisoned and in a coma!” Yang Zhenshan said.

Yu Qingyi was shocked, ”How could this happen?”

”I don’t know the details yet, but His Majesty has already ordered me to go to Chongshan Town to take charge. The house is now in your hands!” Yang Zhenshan said.

Yu Qingyi said, ”I’ll go with you!”

”What for?” Yang Zhenshan said.

Yu Qingyi said, ”General Zhou and Wang Yunqiao are both poisoned. I’m going to take care of them. You’re leading the troops into battle. Someone should look after them at Chongshan Pass, right?”

Yang Zhenshan thought about it and felt it made sense, ”Alright, you come with me, and let Ming Cheng and Ms. Wang stay at home.”

”Go tell them that the weddings for Chengxian and Wan Ting should proceed as planned, without any delay, according to the previously set date!”

Yu Qingyi nodded, ”Alright, Qingxia, pack some clothes, we’ll be departing soon!”

”Also, bring Wu Zhan with you. I’ll take Yu Lu along!”

Yu Lu is Wu Zhan’s wife; after the smuggling case in An Yuan City ended, Yu Lu stayed with the Yang family, and later Yu Qingyi arranged for her to marry Wu Zhan.

Now, Yu Lu still lives in the Marquis Mansion, assisting Yu Qingyi with household affairs.

”Their child is still very young, right?” Yang Zhenshan said.

Yu Qingyi replied, ”It’s alright, isn’t Wu Zhan’s mother at home? She can look after him!”

”Alright!”

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly, and then changed into a neat, combat-ready outfit.

Close to noon, after having lunch, Yang Zhenshan led a group and hurriedly left the capital.

This trip to Chongshan Town, he brought along twenty personal followers and a hundred guards, along with Yu Qingyi, Wu Zhan, Qingxia, Yu Lu, Yang Chengye, Yang Chengmao, Wang Mingzhe, Yang Chengche, and Yang Qinwu.
