Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 701: Chapter 556 King’s Unmatched Wisdom

Wuliang Royal Court is located within Yemi City, which lies at the foot of Mulu Ridge.

Yemi City is a beautiful city, backed by Mulu Ridge and facing Suluo’er Lake, with lush green grasslands below the mountains and endless good fields by the lake.

Although the Wuliang Hu Clan is not adept at farming, since Wu Tuo ascended to power, he has still cultivated a large amount of good fields by the shores of Suluo’er Lake, just these fields alone can sustain a hundred thousand of the Wuliang Hu Clan.

It is precisely because of the vast good fields and fertile grasslands that Wu Tuo has been able to completely control the Wuliang Hu Clan.

At this time, Wu Tuo was hosting a banquet in the palace’s grand hall for six Vassal Kings, with countless delicacies and many dancers and singers performing, with the six Vassal Kings treating Wu Tuo with respectful attitudes, their words filled with pleasantries.

The Wuliang Hu Clan has a total of eight Vassal Kings, including the Banner Master of Wula Clan Xuanting and King Liang Cui Liang, but the ones attending the banquet today were the six veteran Vassal Kings of the Wuliang Hu Clan.

In the past, these six veteran Vassal Kings had many irreverences toward Wu Tuo’s father, often displaying instances of disobedience, especially after Wu Tuo led seventy thousand Northern barbarians to their demise at Guanshan Pass, these six veteran Vassal Kings each harbored various intentions toward the Royal Court.

It took Wu Tuo a full four years to subdue these six old men.

Regarding this, Wu Tuo felt very satisfied, he raised his wine cup, ”Dear uncles, I toast to our Wuliang Royal Court’s complete victory in this battle!”

Wu Tuo had long wanted to wage war against Da Rong, if it weren’t for instability within, he would have wanted to battle Da Rong three years ago.

Now that the Wuliang Royal Court is well-armed and abundant in provisions, Wu Tuo is even more eager to go to war against Da Rong, to wash away previous disgraces.

Even without the Divine Sun Sect secretly instigating, next year Wu Tuo would lead a great army southward.

”To the Royal Court! Cheers!”

”To the Royal Court! Cheers!”

The six Vassal Kings all smiled heartily and raised their cups, drinking it all in one gulp.

At this moment, they were very confident about attacking Da Rong, as the current Wuliang Hu Clan was exceptionally strong, stronger than ever before.

The previously lost troops and horses had long since been replenished, and were even better than before.

And Wu Tuo’s capabilities and methods also greatly boosted their confidence.

In fact, they were not afraid of Wu Tuo’s dominance, they were afraid of Wu Tuo’s incompetence. They desired a strong Royal Court because a strong Royal Court could lead them to prosperity and strength.

How to achieve prosperity and strength?

Naturally, it meant seizing the population and wealth of Da Rong.

Just as the grand hall was bustling, a servant approached Wu Tuo and whispered by his side, ”My King, King Liang just sent word that Beiyuan Town is mobilizing troops and supplies.”

Wu Tuo, rather than being surprised, was pleased.

”Ha ha~~ it seems Duan Qifeng, that Da Rong dog, can no longer hold back!”

He laughed loudly.

”Does our King have any good news?”

One of the six Vassal Kings, Tang Wuxi, asked.

Wu Tuo laughed, ”Good news, indeed! Duan Qifeng is mustering troops and commanders in Beiyuan Town. He also wants to test our strength in battle! Ha ha~~”

He did not fear Beiyuan Town, given their many years of conflict and cooperation.

Their collaboration is driven by mutual interests; the Wuliang Hu Clan relies on Beiyuan Town for the supply of grain, tea, salt, and iron, while Beiyuan Town profits from the Wuliang Hu Clan’s furs and medicinal herbs.

Since the trade route from Chongshan Town on the West Road was destroyed, Beiyuan Town stepped in, becoming the largest trade partner for the Wuliang Hu Clan.

The Wuliang Hu Clan greatly needed the supplies from Beiyuan Town, but Wu Tuo was more eager to capture the territories of Beiyuan Town.

Unlike the impoverished Chongshan Town, Beiyuan Town possesses vast good fields and horse farms, and also has a substantial population.

Wu Tuo dreamed of taking Beiyuan Town.

Once he captured Beiyuan Town, his hundreds of thousands of Northern barbarians could invade Longyuan, acquiring a vast amount of supplies and population, no longer restrained by Beiyuan Town.

Tang Wuxi, around fifty years old, presented a rugged appearance with his full beard, though he was actually quite crafty.

”My King, attacking Beiyuan Town poses no problem, but what about Chongshan Town? You should know that Chongshan Town is currently very strong, and they have deployed a large number of troops on the eastern grasslands!”

”Once we battle Beiyuan Town, Chongshan Town will surely not stand by idly!”,

Tang Wuxi expressed his worries.

His territories lay to the west of the Wula Clan; should the Wula Clan collapse, Chongshan Town’s troops would threaten his land. Therefore, he was more cautious of Chongshan Town than others.

”Ha ha, uncle, rest assured, I have already arranged everything. By the time we act, Chongshan Town will surely be too preoccupied to attack the Wula Clan!” Wu Tuo laughed heartily.

”Really?” Tang Wuxi was somewhat skeptical.

”Of course, uncle. You will know in time, I assure you will have no concerns!” Wu Tuo confidently declared.

”That’s good then, my King’s strategies are unparalleled, I trust you!”

Tang Wuxi no longer dwelt on his concerns, raising his cup in flattery.

The others also joyously toasted Wu Tuo.

Wu Tuo drank the wine in his cup with his head held high and laughed, ”Then please get ready, dear uncles. After next spring, we will march south in full force.”

”Good, ha ha~~”

Everyone laughed heartily, as if they could already see countless riches and women beckoning to them.

...

Yang Zhenshan was unaware of the activities in the North. The day he returned to the Capital City, he went to the Martial Arts Pavilion.

Since last September to now, over the past year, he has only been to the Martial Arts Pavilion a few times, precisely during the days before Yang Wanqing’s wedding, when he stayed there for a few days.
