Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1908: Embarassing Demand

Wang Wei couldnʼt immediately decide, so he chose to gather more information from a close ally: fate — to be precise, luck. A coin appeared in his hand, and with a thought, the character for [attack] and [defense] magically appeared on each side. He activated his [Luck Dao] and watched the result.

”Well, that was useless,” Wang Wei thought. The divination result showed that each side had an equal amount of danger for failure and hope for success. In simple terms, luck was not reliable in such a dire and complicated situation; Wang Wei had to rely on himself.

”In that case, letʼs be more aggressive. Anyway, if Iʼm going to die, Iʼll make him suffer in the process,” Wang Wei muttered. His eyes focused on the data before him, watching the arrayʼs defensive capability slowly decrease. Time passed, and ten minutes passed by, but every second of it felt like an eternity, which was saying something for an eternal being.

”How is it going?” Wang Wei calmly asked.

”We can immediately sacrifice 9 of the 27 Heavens.”

”Good,” Wang Wei nodded. For only ten minutes of effort, this result was more than excellent.

”We can hold for a minute or less, so he should be contacting me soon.”

”Sir, youʼre right as always. Do you want to accept the communication?”

”Why not?”

A screen suddenly materialized in front of him.

”It seems youʼre —”

”Cut the crap and tell me what you want.”

”Rude,” Primordial Heaven Sword Saint muttered. However, the only answer he received was a cold stare. ”Fine, Iʼll get to the point. I want a promise from you.”

The Primordial Heaven Sword Saint remained silent, making Wang Wei frown. ”If this is a negotiation tactic, I donʼt have time to waste with you.”

”No, itʼs not that. Itʼs just…well, itʼs a bit embarrassing.”

”My life is on the line. Do you think I care about your face?”

”Fair,” the Primordial Sword Saint nodded. ”What I want is not from you, but from Yan Hai.”

”If you want me to convince her to hand over the Sword Grand Dao Position, then youʼre overestimating our relationship.”

”No, not all,” the Sword Saint shook his head. Even if she handed it to him, Grand Dao might not accept him acquiring it that way. ”I want her…to give my vessel a handicap when we fight again for the position.”

”Well, thatʼs —”

”Embarrassing? I know. But, I donʼt have much of a choice,” the Sword Saint replied with a wry smile.

”I was going to say thatʼs not what I expected,” Wang Wei explained. He guessed the Sword Saint wanted to negotiate something about the position, but he never thought he would ask for a handicap.

”Canʼt you just take it by force? Or better yet, just kill her and take it?”

”Thatʼs not how it works. The position goes to the best user of a Dao — the best, not the strongest. So, even if I could kill her, I might not necessarily be the best. More importantly, I would be deemed unworthy if I did that.”

”Couldnʼt you just keep killing the holders until there is no more?”

”A few people tried that, but they all had terrible fates as their luck was ruined. Many of them died in tragic ways.”

”If thatʼs the case, would a handicap even work?” Wang Wei frowned.

”Honestly, I donʼt know, but Iʼm running out of options.” The Primordial Heaven Sword Saint knew the position was one of the keys to his ascension to the third step, but no matter what he did, he couldnʼt get the Sword Position. The Saber Position was already his, but not the sword.

”I didnʼt know Yan Hai was this incredible,” Wang Wei commented.

”Her strength is nothing to speak of, but her Sword Dao is truly unparalleled.”

”Is it really impossible to become a third-step powerhouse without the position?” Wang Wei asked. This question was crucial to him because he knew his father and Yan Hai would definitely fight for this potion, and only one of them could have it.

”It is possible. However, that may not be the case in the future.”

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

”Weʼre running out of time. So, do we have a deal or not?”

”Itʼs too late,” Wang Wei shook his head. Even if the Sword Saint did his part and used his array to protect the Lesser Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle, they would only last a few more minutes; the damage is too severe, especially since Wang Wei had to divert resources to the [Cicada Plan] and other things.

”Then —”

”Alright, I have to go. Weʼll negotiate again in a while.”

Wang Wei ended the conversation and focused on his dire current situation. ”Ai, donʼt forget to add Maitreyaʼs Saint Will into the [Cicada Plan].” With a Saint Will, injuries to Saints canʼt be considered injuries.

”Sir, do you think Iʼd make such a mistake?”

”I just want to make sure,” Wang Wei nodded. ”Alright. Letʼs begin.”

As soon as he uttered these words, a small tremor spread to every corner of this timeline, forcing Future Reverence to stop. With his connection to Heaven and Earth, he immediately found the source: the Highest Firmament. He immediately traced the source of this anomaly and discovered the missing nine layers; however, he cared more about what had happened to them.

”Such a high amount of pure energy,” he thought. He immediately traced the source, and as expected, it led to Wang Wei. More importantly, Future Reverence suddenly sensed a terrifying spatial energy. ”Is he going to run away with all that pure energy into the Primordial Sword Dao Array?” If Wang Wei could teleport and bring all that energy to the [Sword-Saber Dao Source], Future Reverence knew how much trouble he would be in.

Future Reverence did not hesitate. With a thought, he forcefully accelerated the timelineʼs earlier shrinking and destruction to gather World Source, which he then used for a single devastating, penetrating attack. With one punch, he tore through the already weakened Lesser Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array.

”There you are, you little rat,” Future Reverence uttered as his vision penetrated countless worlds and dimensions to see Wang Wei, already one foot through a portal, preparing to make his exit.

”Not on my watch.”

Using his ridiculous speed, Future Reverence rushed toward him, trying to capture the vessel his Lord had chosen. However, as soon as he reached Wang Weiʼs body, the entire array exploded. The damage caused was catastrophic. The array was created from countless Chaos Worlds and, more importantly, was deduced and perfected by Ai. On top of that, Wang Wei used the energy he had recently acquired to further enhance the explosion.

”Damn you,” Future Reverence cursed. He wanted to rush and cut that bastard into millions of pieces, but he controlled his emotions. ”Why didnʼt I sense anything?” What was his cultivation? How vast was the difference between him and Wang Wei? Yet his danger senses never activated, and he didnʼt even detect the slightest sign of it.

”Something is wrong. My senses are no longer reliable,” Future Reverence frowned. He suddenly began to notice previous anomalies, for example, why didnʼt he detect Wang Weiʼs invasion of the Highest Firmament? That place was his domain, and the fact that they could steal nine layers under his eyes in such a short period was an anomaly. Even with 25% [Authority], this shouldnʼt be possible.

”Gu Xuanʼs Deception Dao? I see,” Future Reverence thought. He finally understood the unknown variable that Wang Wei used to tilt the odds in his favor; he also understood why he failed for such a cheap trick.

”If heʼs been deceiving me all alone, what else have I assumed to be true is false?”

This question was worth pondering, but Future Reverence had another issue he had to deal with: his injuries. His body was bleeding with wounds all over, and his right arm was missing. For a Saint, this was a severe injury that could affect their strength. Future Reverence gritted his teeth for a moment before a ruthless light flashed in his eyes. He then acted without hesitation: sacrificing 17% of his [Authority] into the purest vitality to instantly heal his injuries. Although it only brought him back to 90% of his peak strength, it was way better than his previous situation.

”51% of the [Authority] is still the majority,” Future Reverence thought before turning his head to the last obstacle: the Primordial Sword Dao Array. He raised his hand to forcefully condense even more World Source, which he plans to use to continue his healing — it would be ideal to return to his peak state — and to power up his attacks so he can break through this array sooner than later. Unfortunately for this ambassador of death, someone or some people were secretly stopping him.

First, it was Ai; afterward, Siwangji and Suiji joined, using their [Authority] to interfere with his acquisition of World Source. ”Damn it,” Future Reverence cursed; he didnʼt expect his previous decision to come back to plague him immediately after he did it. However, he didnʼt regret it. His previous state was not suitable for battle.
