Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1905: Bad News & The Aftermath

”The good news is Iʼve captured an additional 21% of the [Authority]?”

”Only 21%? Thatʼs only 23.5% of Death Reverenceʼs authority? How is that good news?”

”Sir, Iʼve used a lot of resources and powers. And my performance is also connected to you, and to say the least, youʼre in terrible shape. So, the fact that I was able to acquire such a large percentage is a display of my capabilities.”

”Alright, thatʼs fair,” Wang Wei sighed as he caressed his temple. ”Whatʼs the bad news?”

”Hmm, Iʼm afraid to tell you, but the Time Nexus is not over.”

”What?” Wang Wei immediately checked his Fate Line, and she was correct: the Time Nexus was still there, binding to his fate like an eternal knot. ”Damn it, did Death Reverence leave a backhand? What did I miss?” He immediately glanced at the Mark of Death, but as expected, it had dissipated with Death Reverenceʼs death.

”It appeared when he said it wasnʼt over, these werenʼt just empty threats,” Ai added.

Wang Wei exhaled to calm down. One of Death Reverenceʼs greatest trump cards has always been to summon his Future Self or summon a projection of the Beyonder. Well, thatʼs according to Wang Weiʼs analysis. Itʼs because he was operating under this assumption that he chose this approach to defeat Death Reverence.

Wang Wei knew that the most dangerous part of this fight would be when Death Reverence is cornered — when the bastard is on the verge of losing. Once heʼs pushed this far, heʼll activate one of those two trump cards. Ai and Wang Wei had made many preparations for this possibility, but even their best plan did not have a high chance of success.

Ten years ago, Wang Wei contacted the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint to ask him if he could borrow the strength of his sword. However, the latter neither denied nor accepted the request. So, Wang Wei planned to just try it and see what happens. But that was a last resort. And when he saw Death Reverence pray to his lord at the beginning of the fight, he immediately created the [Free Will Plan], believing that killing Death Reverence before he was forced to the edge was the best approach.

The plan was challenging, requiring a few improvisations. For example, step 4 — the Fate Strings — was supposed to come much later. However, an opportunity arrived, and Wang Wei did not hesitate to take it. He also had to improvise a few other steps. The truth of the matter is that it was purely coincidental that there were 9 steps to begin with. Some of the previous steps needed further reinforcement or additional aid because Death Reverence was passively resisting.

In the end, everything came together perfectly — or, it should have.

”Alright, now is not the time to be panicking,” Wang Wei talked to himself. ”My current priority is to recuperate. As long as Iʼm healthy and with my mind intact, I can handle everything that comes my way.”

He exhaled deeply for a second time, ”Ai, letʼs prepare to deal with the backlash. In the meantime, also prepare for Project Phoenix.”

”As you wish.”

Wang Wei teleported to a small dimension with a magic circle at the center, surrounded by billions of coffins on all sides. Without wasting a second, he sat cross-legged on the circle. After exhaling deeply to regulate his emotions, he ordered, ”Letʼs begin.”

”Sir, I recommend you regain some of your lifespan before we do this,” Ai suddenly suggested.

”We donʼt have the time,” Wang Wei replied. The longer he remained in this false Saint State, the harsher the backlash would be. So, even if he wanted to use some methods to extend his lifespan first, he couldnʼt wait too long, or his prepared method would become useless.

”But there is.”

”Hmm?”

”Now that I control 25% of this timelineʼs [Authority], I can recover the lost [Eternal Characteristic] in a small area.”

”Really? You should have said so sooner. Go ahead and do it.”

”I needed time to – forget it, I never get any appreciation anyway,” Ai sighed. Wang Wei ignored her complaint and focused on the changes to Heaven and Earth. First, there was a small tremor, and soon afterward, he sensed the hidden rules cheering — yes, cheering. It was as if they were now completed and happy because of it.

Wang Wei immediately focused on his [Existence Scroll], and as expected, a missing section on his scroll was rapidly being rewritten. With each stroke, his lifespan rapidly replenished until he reached a state until there was no end to it. Such a change should have been a joyous one, but Wang Wei couldnʼt muster any positive emotion. This timelineʼs experience has exposed a fundamental truth to him and everybody: their over-reliance on Grand Daoʼs rule and system.

”Letʼs focus on the pressing issues,” Wang Wei thought. The issue of reliance is not something he can solve right now since the only answer is to become a Third Step Powerhouse. If he could condense his Dao Quintessence Prototype, the issue would be alleviated, but even that was beyond his control.

Wang Wei refocused his mind to continue his previous task; once he was ready, Ai activated the magic circle, and Wang Wei immediately released his connection to Heavenly Dao, losing his Saint-tier power. Blue veins spread to his neck and every other part of his body; Wang Wei tried to resist the pain, but he couldnʼt stop a few grunts.

Black blood dripped from all the orifices in his face, but Wang Weiʼs current situation was nothing compared to the people in the coffins. They all suffered terrible fates. Most had their heads instantly explode, which was a kind of mercy given how swift the death was. Others had their limbs and bodies deformed into these bloated monsters before they exploded. Another group suffered the most because their souls slowly collapsed.

Wang Wei glanced at all these variants of himself, but did not comment on their situation. Because of Wu Hong and Ying Zhengʼs battle, he knew the consequences of acquiring strength beyond his body, soul, and [Existence] could bear. As such, he had long prepared for the backlash.

There were many ways he could have approached the situation, but Wang Wei wanted one that had the least effect on his Saint Foundation. And unfortunately, the answer he discovered was to use people with [Existence] similar enough to his own to bear the backlash. With Maitreyaʼs aid, he was able to gather a significant number of his variants, which, according to his calculations, should be enough even for the most severe backlash.

A few hours later, Wang Wei stopped bleeding, and the pain receded. He immediately checked his [Existence]; he let out a deep sigh, feeling immense relief. Although there was some damage to his foundation, it was minor and easily repairable. More importantly, his potential was not affected in the least.

”Letʼs proceed with Project Phoenix.”

”As you wish.”

Wang Weiʼs body suddenly collapsed, turning into a tiny, invisible scroll to the naked eye. A thread flew from the scroll, connecting him to a tiny piece of his soul in a very well-protected dimension. That single piece of his soul was rather unique, as it contained only the bare minimum information about Wang Weiʼs existence. The information in that piece of the soul is probably even less than Wang Wei as a baby.

Under AIʼs terrifying computing problem and the filtration system she had created using the 25% [Authority], the information sent from Wang Weiʼs body to that small piece of soul was highly controlled. From the beginning, Wang Wei never planned to use his current body. Even before defeating Death Reverence, even after dealing with the Beyonderʼs Mark, he always knew this body would be discarded.

He has never underestimated how terrifying Saints were — especially Grand Dao Saints. Right now, his [Existence] looked perfectly normal, but Wang Wei would not hesitate to bet all his wealth that there were some underlying or undetectable issues. And to be honest, even with the filtration system he had created, he was not 100% sure he could remove all the trouble. However, as long as there werenʼt too many hidden marks or powers in his [Existence], he would be able to detect or deal with them after he sanctifies.

So, with meticulous care, Wang Wei slowly rebuilt his [Existence], leaving behind all the influence the battle with Death Reverence had on him. He even deleted some of his memories, primarily the one when he saw the Beyonderʼs eyes.

A naked Wang Wei suddenly opened his eyes, bursting out from the glass tank filled with the nutrients for the revival process. The first thing he did was check his [Existence] to see if he missed anything, followed by clenching his fist to check his power. He was back at his peak — no, he was stronger than before. The battle had helped him improve in many ways, including further strengthening his [Force Control Skill], deepening his understanding of the Saint Realm, and teaching him how to elevate his [Order-Disorder] Dao to the next level. And those were just the primary improvements; the secondary ones were even more.

”Have you eliminated the other body?” Wang Wei asked.

”Yes, sir. Iʼve used all 12,987 methods you created to ensure no one can retrieve a single piece of information from that body,” Ai replied.

”Excellent,” Wang Wei nodded. ”Now, letʼs go and find out why this Time Nexus hasnʼt disappeared.”
