Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1901: The Final Battle VIII: Master of Order-Disorder

[Order: The world will become purely materialistic, rejecting all extraordinary power or phenomena.]

[Disorder:Not applicable to the living.]

Without cultivation, without extraordinary powers, people such as Death Reverence are nothing. So, since the messenger of death chose to target Wang Weiʼs greatest reliance, he did the same. And as soon as he wove these rules into the fabric of the battle world, cracks began to appear and disappear everywhere.

Well, they looked like spatial cracks to the normal eyes, but for those two, it was a battle of the rules. The order each of them had woven into existence began to confront them, and it didnʼt take long for Wang Wei to realize he was losing.

”The key to his technique seemed to be specialization. Whatever [Order-Disorder] that heʼs weaving, he doesnʼt just force them into the world. No, force is only used when necessary. Instead, he observed which hidden rules are involved and cater to them.”

Wang Wei was in awe. Such a simple concept, but he understood how difficult it was to execute. Take, for example, the current order to retrain intelligence and wisdom. The hidden rules involved are the soul and mind, and with the disorder, the hidden rules of death are also involved. All three rules are unique in their own, but Death Reverenceʼs technique perfectly caters to them, allowing his spell to reach maximum potency. The previous order about healing involved Life Rules and Mind Rules, but the sub-section about Faith. Yet, he also perfectly catered to their uniqueness.

”His approach is truly enlightening, but itʼs not something I can master in the short period I have left in this battle,” Wang Wei thought. Time was running out for him; he didnʼt know exactly how long his obsession could seal or suppress Death Reverenceʼs [Authority], but he knew it wasnʼt long enough.

”Fine. Since a subtle approach is not possible, weʼll go with an extreme one,” Wang Wei thought. The key to [Order-Disorder Dao] has always been the balance between the two. The higher the order, the more restrictive the disorder must be. And the more restrictive the disorder, the more potent the order.

[Order: The world will become purely materialistic, rejecting all extraordinary power or phenomena.]

[Disorder: Applicable to all.]

The spatial cracks between Heaven and Earth intensified, and Death Reverence frowned. For a moment, he wondered whether Wang Wei was mad. With this rule, everyone will be affected — including Wang Wei himself. Is it truly worth losing all his cultivation just to win this fight?

”No, Iʼm the one who will pay the steepest price,” Death Reverence suddenly realized. In a world without powers and cultivation, Wang Wei is still a living being, but as an undead being, his fate is to become a corpse. Meanwhile, as long as Wang Wei is alive and in this place, he can continue to regain his cultivation and continue his path of the Dao.

Death Reverence sighed to himself. He couldnʼt believe someone so young would push him to such a state. However, Wang Wei was worthy of the vessel his Lord chose. With a wave of his hand, his [Order-Disorder] resonated with Wang Weiʼs, and then the two canceled each other out.

”Another subtle manipulation,” Wang Wei thought. In the past, the only way he could deal with [Order-Disorder] was by finding the inherent flaw or by using brute force. As for using one order to cancel another? Well, he has tried, but his successes were quite subpar and usually require a long period, which made them inapplicable for battle.

[Order: Eternity is no more, and all sentient beingsʼ lifespans must be limited.]

[Disorder 1: The ones rooted in another source are exempt.]

[Disorder 2: Those willing to offer their lives unconditionally for someone else are exempt.]

”Fuck, I thought this was impossible,” Wang Wei thought. He had previously tried to have more than one [Order] or [Disorder], but failed, leading Wang Wei to believe it was impossible. But today, Death Reverence showed him that he was simply not skilled enough.

Wang Wei knew now was not the time to be distracted, so he concentrated on finding a solution. His already meager lifespan was rapidly decreasing, and he only had a few seconds before he died of old age.

”The disorder refers to the fact that the Beyonder is a foreign from outside the Chaos Universe, and technically speaking, Death Reverence shares the same root. Pangu and Hongmeng have influenced Earth, so I could maybe argue my roots are also foreign, but what about the second one?”

Wang Wei gritted his teeth. He loved his family, wife, and friends — and he knows he would not hesitate to sacrifice his life for them if necessary. However, there is one condition in which that is not the case: if he has to sacrifice his pursuit of freedom. This is his bottom line; the only thing he — sadly — placed above everything else.

And itʼs not a secret. He and Wu Hong have had this discussion many times, and theyʼve agreed that their pursuit of the Dao comes before their relationship. Although harsh and unfair to the person they called their partners, itʼs true, and they both accept this as the limit of their relationship.

After realizing he couldnʼt find a flaw in the technique to exploit, Wang Wei tried something he had just learned: he created his own order rules and resonated with the lifespan limit rule, trying to cancel them out — just like Death Reverence did.

”Fuck,” Wang Wei cursed in his mind. For probably the first time in a long time — maybe ever — Wang Wei felt ashamed by how much an opponent had outclassed him at something he thought he was good at. The hidden rules may be the secrets of Saints, but there are a few known to almost every cultivator: one of which is the hidden rule of time, which only allows ten times acceleration. Death Reverenceʼs technique uses this already potent and well-reinforced rule and attaches its [Order-Disorder] on it, boosting it to another level. With such a subtle and brilliant manipulation, the man truly deserved the title of a [Master].

After his Plan A failed, Wang Wei immediately tried Plan B. A [Life Flame] appeared inside his Sea of Consciousness, connected to the projection of Wu Hongʼs 3800 Origin Seal that he had Ai create. By linking his lifespan to a prototype of a Dao Source, Wang Wei was barely able to stop it from dissipating.

”I only have 20 years left, and itʼs still slowly dissipating,” he analyzed his situation. If he cannot eliminate the threat before he runs out of life energy, then Wang Wei will die of natural causes.

[Order: Maximum possible increase in power within the Primordial Chaos Realm.

[Disorder: Sacrifice the willingness to have descendants.]

Wang Wei watched as Death Reverenceʼs aura returned to its former peak and even surpassed it, completely speechless. First, it was the Time Hidden Rules, and now, it was the rules that affected the fertility of powerful cultivators, preventing them from breeding talented children like pigs. And of course, Wang Wei wasnʼt willing to give up his descendants; he still hoped to have a little padded jacket, a princess to dote on and love; he also wished to train a strong and capable son.

”Sir, may I suggest you use Project Battle Strings?” Ai suddenly said.

”No, not yet,” Wang Wei refused. He had to think about his future after this battle. Project Battle Strings is one of his greatest trump cards, but its inception was not to deal with Death Reverence; its target was Heavenly Book Paragon — although he only recently completed it with Ai and the duchessʼs help. However, Wang Wei feared that using it in this fight might leak information about it to Heavenly Book.

”Sir, are you sure?”

”We havenʼt even truly tested Project Battle String, so there is no need to risk it.”

”In that case, what about Project Anti –”

”Activate Project Grandmist Support.”

”Very well.”

Normally, Grand Dao has many rules and runs a tight ship. However, this timeline can be summed up in one word: deregulation. Without anyone above reinforcing the rules, many things that were previously impossible or severely limited become open and accessible, which has its downside, as seen in the decrease in lifespan, but there are also some positives.

One of those many limits was on the Grandmist Wheel or Grandmist World. Grand Dao had placed strict limits on how much influence a Grandmist World could have in the material world, but that was no longer the case. So, with one word from Wang Wei, all the sentient beings living in his Grandmist World began to pray to him to provide him with power. More importantly, the rules of that world also blessed him, adding an extra buff to his power.

”Youʼre really not going to make this easy, are you?” Death Reverence asked with his echo-like voice.

”Thatʼs obvious.”

”Good. Then, Iʼll show you how pointless your struggle is.” An unknown set of runes suddenly manifested over Death Reverenceʼs armor, subtly shifting his aura into something new, different, and strange.
