I Married the President

Chapter 493: Chapter 493: I’m Afraid Tonight’s Birthday Party Can’t Go On

With that, Claire Sinclair turned to Landon Winston and said, ”Landon Winston, I’m reporting the presence of illegal drugs at the SS Hotel. I need you to launch a thorough investigation at once.”

”Yes!” Landon Winston nodded, promptly taking out his phone to call Aiden Howkins.

Five minutes later, Aiden Howkins arrived with about a dozen men in uniform, openly storming the party.

The party guests watched, their faces a mixture of confusion and shock.

”Those are Quincy Manor uniforms. Why are people from Quincy Manor here?”

”This is terrifying. Of all days for this to happen... I hope they don’t take away the person I like.”

”Man, Cecily Taylor must have some seriously bad luck. She’s just trying to have a nice birthday, and Quincy Manor shows up to arrest people.”

...

Claire Sinclair stood at the entrance, patiently waiting for the outcome.

Unable to change her mind, a frustrated Cecily Taylor stormed into the main hall.

Seeing that the people from Quincy Manor had no intention of leaving, Cecily Taylor walked decisively onto the small stage, picked up a microphone, and said, ”My apologies, everyone. Quincy Manor is here on business, so I’m afraid we’ll have to cut the party short. I am so sorry for the inconvenience. I promise I will make it up to you all another day. Please, you may all head home now.”

The moment she finished speaking, everyone stared at Cecily Taylor on stage, stunned. Whispers broke out among the crowd:

”Why is she ending it so suddenly?”

”Yeah, I just got here!”

”We haven’t even had cake yet! At least cut the cake before you send us home.”

”Exactly! The most important part of a birthday is the cake. Even if Quincy Manor is here on business, it’s not like that stops her from cutting the cake.”

”Cece, cut the cake before we all leave!”

”Yeah, cake first!”

Below the stage, several of her friends shouted, demanding cake.

Cecily Taylor was touched, and her resolve wavered. After a moment of hesitation, she finally said, ”Alright, let’s cut the cake first. Thank you, everyone!”

After speaking, she immediately instructed the staff to bring out the cake.

Just as she was about to cut the cake, a commotion suddenly erupted at the entrance to the hall.

Since Cecily Taylor was on a raised platform, she had a wide field of view. The moment the man walked through the door, her gaze was captured.

’Adrian Quincy? What is he doing here???’

And it wasn’t just Adrian Quincy. Claire Sinclair was right by his side, walking in lockstep with him.

They carried themselves like an emperor and empress ascending to their throne, their innate, regal aura instantly blanketing the entire hall. Everyone instinctively parted, clearing a path for the couple to enter.

Behind them followed two neat rows of men in uniform.

All of them were from Quincy Manor.

Adrian and Claire walked slowly onto the stage. Claire was the first to speak. ”Professor Taylor, I apologize, but Quincy Manor must inspect this cake to confirm there are no issues before you can cut it. I hope you can understand, as this is for everyone’s health.”

’So now, I can’t even cut the cake...’

Cecily Taylor shot Claire Sinclair a look that could kill. But with Adrian Quincy standing right there, what could she do?

”It’s fine. Quincy Manor is on official business. I will cooperate fully. Young Master Quincy, please proceed.”

Adrian Quincy gave a slight nod. He turned and issued a few commands to his men, and two of them immediately stepped forward, lifting the large, three-tiered cake and carrying it away.

Claire Sinclair took the opportunity to say to Cecily Taylor, ”Professor Taylor, rest assured. They’re only taking a small sample. It won’t affect the cake’s appearance or taste. As long as it’s clean, they’ll bring it right back.”

”I know. I understand,” Cecily Taylor replied.

’Even if I didn’t know and didn’t understand, what could I do about it?’

’Even if they brought the cake back, I wouldn’t have the heart to eat it now.’
