I Married the President

Chapter 487: Chapter 487: Why Not Beat Her at Her Own Game?

Adrian Quincy held her small hand and said in a low voice, ”It’s not serious. Damian didn’t hit any vital spots.”

Hearing Damian’s name, Claire Sinclair’s body trembled uncontrollably. ”You were shot??”

Adrian Quincy nodded slightly. ”This is a critical time, so there will certainly be danger. But I won’t let anything happen to me. For our future, I’ll tether my life to yours. As long as you still need me, I will never fall.”

What a sweet promise. Although Claire Sinclair was touched, she felt more heartache than anything. She gently rested her head on his shoulder, wrapping her arms around him but still afraid to touch his injured spot.

”Adrian, I love you. Please don’t get hurt again, okay?”

”Okay.” A faint smile touched Adrian Quincy’s lips, and a sweet feeling blossomed in his heart.

This was the first time she had said those three words to him. He suddenly felt like he had the whole world.

Claire Sinclair took his hand, led him to the bed, and firmly pushed him down to sit, her eyes fixed on his soaked gauze bandage.

”You’re already injured, what are you doing taking a shower? You don’t know how to take care of yourself at all!” she chided, reaching out to undo his bandages.

Adrian Quincy grabbed her wrist. ”Claire, you don’t have to do this. I’ll have Aiden Howkins help me change the dressing.”

”No, I want to help you.”

”The wound isn’t a pretty sight. Don’t force yourself.”

Claire Sinclair retorted irritably, ”Is there any part of your body I haven’t seen? Do you really think I’d care about a little wound like this?”

Adrian Quincy sounded a little helpless. ”I’m just afraid it’ll upset you to see it.”

”No matter how upset I get, it can’t compare to your pain. The fact that you got hurt... it’s killing me.” Claire Sinclair pouted, her eyes filled with compassion.

Adrian Quincy was silent for a moment, then finally softened and released her wrist.

Claire Sinclair continued to unwrap his bandages. When she finally saw the bloody, mangled wound, her heart skipped a beat, and even her breathing became stifled.

”Does it hurt a lot?”

”I’m used to it.”

”Who did this?”

”We’re still investigating.”

The next second, Claire Sinclair let out a wail and burst into tears, burying her head in his shoulder. ”I don’t want anything to happen to you... I’m so scared. If you hadn’t made it back alive, what would I do?”

”Claire...” Adrian Quincy felt a pang of regret. ’I shouldn’t have come back so soon. I knew she wouldn’t be able to handle seeing the wound.’

Claire Sinclair cried for a little while, then forced herself to pull it together and found the first-aid kit to treat his wound.

Although the Great Demon King Quincy didn’t make a sound the entire time, his body still trembled uncontrollably. How could it possibly not hurt?

After finally managing to wrap a new bandage around his wound, Claire Sinclair breathed a small sigh of relief. ”There, it’s done. You can’t take a shower for the next few days. If you feel uncomfortable, just give yourself a sponge bath. I can help you with the parts you can’t reach.”

”Okay.” He would agree to anything she said.

Claire Sinclair walked to the closet and pulled out a clean set of pajamas for him. ”Put these on first, then get some rest here at the hotel. I’m going to Cecily Taylor’s birthday party.”

”That kind of party is pointless,” Adrian Quincy reminded her.

Claire Sinclair smiled. ”If I don’t go, that woman will just keep trying to find ways to deal with me later. Why not beat her at her own game and see what tricks she has up her sleeve? Besides, I have Landon Winston and the others protecting me. There’s no need to be afraid of her, right?”

”Claire...” Adrian Quincy looked at her, his expression slightly aggrieved.

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. ”I’ll come back to be with you right after the party. For now, you need to lie down and rest.”

”I want your kiss,” Adrian Quincy wheedled.

Claire Sinclair was on her guard. ”A kiss is fine, but only a kiss. No other moves.”
