I Married the President

Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Don’t Mess Up Your Breathing

The words were barely out when the squad leader immediately responded, ”Attention! Right face!”

The squad came to a halt in front of Claire Sinclair.

Their sudden halt made Claire Sinclair a little nervous, and she quickly asked, ”Why did you all shout ’Greetings, Sister-in-law!’ the moment you got to me? Who is your sister-in-law?”

”Reporting, Sister-in-law! We were addressing you!”

Claire Sinclair: ”...”

’What kind of crazy joke is this...’

Claire Sinclair asked again, ”Then who’s your leader?”

”Reporting, Sister-in-law! It’s Young Master Quincy!”

”...”

’Heh. What else was there to say?’

After a moment of silence, Claire Sinclair asked one last question, ”Who told you to call me that?”

”Reporting, Sister-in-law! It’s Aiden Howkins!”

”Aiden Howkins is here??”

Claire Sinclair was thrilled. ’If Aiden Howkins is here, then that guy must be here too!’

”Reporting, Sister-in-law! Young Master Quincy is over there. Please run over to him!”

The men all pointed toward the track.

Claire Sinclair followed their line of sight and spotted several figures under a tree in the distance, but she couldn’t make them out clearly.

’The sun’s so strong. If I run over there, I’ll definitely get a tan...’

Claire Sinclair said her thanks and broke into a run.

The large tree ahead didn’t look far, but the run was surprisingly exhausting.

Claire finally made it closer, only to see Adrian Quincy speaking with an elderly man, which made her hesitate.

She recognized the elderly man. He seemed to hold a very high rank; everyone here followed his orders.

’If they’re discussing matters of state, I probably shouldn’t go over and interrupt...’

While she was lost in thought, Adrian Quincy suddenly started jogging toward her.

’She wasn’t mistaken. He was jogging!’

His ramrod-straight, dashing figure moved as if riding the wind, radiating such a dazzling aura that everything around him seemed to pale in comparison.

’Jeez, he’s just jogging. Does he have to look so cool while doing it...?’

For a moment, Claire Sinclair forgot how exhausted she was and ran to meet him. ”Mr. Q-Quincy...”

Adrian Quincy said calmly, ”Keep your breathing steady. Continue running. I’ll join you.”

”Uh, okay!” Claire Sinclair couldn’t suppress a smile, her heart soaring with delight.

The two of them were soon on the track. Every so often, someone would run past them, leaving behind a charming greeting—”Greetings, Sister-in-law!”

At first, Claire Sinclair felt a bit embarrassed, but after hearing it so many times, she grew immune.

She ran for who knows how long before she simply couldn’t go on and had to stop for a break.

Adrian Quincy, on the other hand, looked completely unaffected. He wasn’t even breathing heavily, and his tone was perfectly calm. ”You ran a lap and a half more than you did when you first got here. You’ve improved.”

Claire was gasping for air, unable to speak smoothly. ”You... how did you know... how many laps... I ran... when I first started?”

”They give me a report on your condition every day.”

’Is that his way of keeping me under surveillance?’

Claire snapped, ”You’re spying on me again!”

”Claire, this isn’t surveillance. I just want to know if you’re doing all right.”

”Whatever! Your spies are everywhere here!”

The words were barely out of her mouth when a new voice cut in. ”You’re just now figuring that out? Haha... Sister-in-law, let me give you the inside scoop. We went easy on your colleagues’ tests, but who’d have thought you’d still fail even with us holding back.”

’No way???’

Claire was both shocked and mortified. ’Just how terrible am I...?’

The speaker walked up to them. He was a stranger—Claire had never seen him before. He was quite handsome and radiated a bright, sunny energy.

”Haha, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Quentin Zane. I’m an old comrade-in-arms of Young Master Quincy.”
