Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1337: 1336 Should I kiss back?

Wen Jin glanced at Gu Kai’s dissatisfied expression in the rearview mirror and blinked innocently, “Yeah, a thousand yuan isn’t a small amount; I’ve advanced her a year’s salary.”

“Ah Jin, aren’t you being too heartless? A thousand yuan isn’t enough for even a month’s living expenses, and Bai Yiyi isn’t alone; she’s also raising Tongtong.”

“That’s still your fault, if not because you encouraged her mother to rent out the house, would she have needed to advance a year’s salary to buy your house? Ah Kai, stop looking at me with that look; compared to you, I’m already very kind.”

Gu Kai was choked up by Wen Jin’s remarks and didn’t speak for a long time.

“Starting this month, increase her salary by four thousand yuan, I’ll pay for it.”

After a while, Gu Kai spoke those words magnanimously.

Wen Jin laughed carelessly, “Don’t mention four thousand, even if it’s ten thousand, I’d dare to increase it, as long as you make up the difference.”

“I’ll cover it, as long as money can solve it, it’s no problem at all.” Gu Kai huffed, knowing that the woman Bai Yiyi had strong pride.

She says she prefers cash to flowers and gifts, but in reality, she’s not the type of woman willing to be kept. If he gave her money directly, she would definitely not accept it.

Upon arriving at the pharmaceutical factory, Wen Jin’s car did not enter the factory but had Gu Kai get out of the car right at the factory gate.

“Go find Yiyi and ride in her car, I have some matters to attend to, so I’ll leave first.”

Gu Kai looked at him with confusion, “Aren’t you going to Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion?”

“I will, it’s still early, I’ll head there in a bit.” Wen Jin’s mouth curled, urging him with his gaze to get out of the car quickly.

Before getting out, Gu Kai turned around as if he remembered something, “What happened when you asked Qian Songnan this afternoon?”

“He’s been taken into custody.”

Wen Jin answered calmly. “I’m about to go to the police station, I filed the report, the police arrived just as you were making the call.”

By that, it was implied that he wasn’t yet aware of Qian Songnan’s situation because he had rushed to the hospital.

Realization dawned on Gu Kai, “Then you should go, don’t be late.”

When Gu Kai entered the office, Bai Yiyi was sorting through a document. She lifted her head to glance at him, then lowered it again and continued her work, “Just wait for me for two minutes.”

“Qian Songnan got arrested?”

Gu Kai strolled toward Bai Yiyi with his long legs.

Hearing that, Bai Yiyi nodded, “Yeah, he got arrested.”

“Bai Yiyi, do you really not like the flowers I sent, or is it just that you happen not to like roses?”

When Gu Kai spoke again, he was already standing in front of the office desk, leaning forward with one hand propped on the tabletop, his eyes intently gazing at Bai Yiyi.

Bai Yiyi looked up, meeting his sharp gaze, her eyes flickering, “You go sit on the sofa for a while, or wait for me in President Wen’s office first.”

“Answer my question first.” Gu Kai assertively placed his hand over hers that was sorting the documents, causing Bai Yiyi to tremble because of his action, “I just think it’s a waste, don’t buy them anymore.”

“Is it because flowers wither easily?” Gu Kai’s mouth twitched into a smirk, retracting his hand, “I understand, I won’t buy fresh flowers next time.”

“Don’t buy other gifts either.” Bai Yiyi finished sorting the documents and saw Gu Kai still standing at the desk. Across the desk, he watched her with focused eyes.

Heat rose to her face, and her voice took on an unnatural tinge.

“Why?”

Gu Kai asked with incomprehension, “Ranran said that since I’m dating you, I should buy you gifts. If you are worried about me wasting money, rest assured, it’s just some flowers, I won’t go bankrupt from that.”

“So, it’s because Ranran told you to buy them?” Bai Yiyi suddenly laughed, her smiling appearance was very attractive, especially her clear and bright eyes, which seemed to have fallen into fine gold, dazzling and splendid.

Gu Kai, upon seeing her laugh, coughed unnaturally and frowned, “You’re not allowed to laugh like that, as if I’m so dumb. I’m just naive, having never chased a girl before, I don’t understand these things.”

“Pfft—”

He would have been better off not saying anything.

The word “naive” made Bai Yiyi burst into laughter outright, “Gu Kai, do you think you’re Tongtong? Naive and cute? Just admit you have low EQ, no need to make excuses for yourself. Ranran is right, you should indeed give gifts when pursuing a girl.”

“Then why don’t you like it?”

Gu Kai glared at her, feigning indignation.

“I just feel it’s unnecessary. You don’t need to chase me, I’ve already agreed to try dating you,” Bai Yiyi said, lowering her eyelids and pursing her lips, “We can’t be sure about the future, so…”

She looked up to see that Gu Kai’s face had gone slightly somber, and she smiled, “Gu Kai, don’t give me gifts and make me feel psychologically burdened. I always feel like we’re not suitable for each other, who knows if one day…”

Bai Yiyi didn’t finish her sentence when Gu Kai suddenly grabbed her wrist, pulled her body forward, and her other hand instinctively braced against the tabletop.

However, she was so focused on not falling onto the desk that she didn’t react in time when Gu Kai kissed her lips.

Leaning over an office desk that wasn’t exactly spacious, Gu Kai inclined his upper body, one large hand gripping Bai Yiyi’s wrist, while his other hand held her head in place, leaving her unable to resist, he bossily pried open her lips and, like a bandit, voraciously plundered inside her mouth…

Bai Yiyi snapped back to reality, her eyes suddenly wide.

Damn it, this is an office, and he dared to kiss her here.

Yet, she was completely unable to resist him, and what infuriated her most was that she didn’t dislike his kiss at all, in fact, she felt her legs weaken from it.

When Gu Kai let her go, her consciousness was still in a haze.

“Bai Yiyi, stop thinking we’ll break up at any moment. I’m not the kind of person who plays with life, and I didn’t pursue you on a whim,” Gu Kai uttered in a low and husky voice, with a seriousness and displeasure echoing in the room.

Bai Yiyi subconsciously pressed her lips together, the taste of his still lingering there, and her heartbeat didn’t calm down despite the kiss having ended.

She blinked in confusion, “Next time, don’t kiss me in my office.”

A look of surprise flashed in Gu Kai’s eyes as a smile tugged at his lips.

This little woman was really not on the same wavelength as him at all. What he meant was for her not to doubt their future and to have confidence in him.

Instead, she asked him not to kiss her in the office.

“Fine, I won’t kiss you in your office in the future.”

Gu Kai enunciated each word clearly, his lips’ smile and the amusement in his eyes both hinting at a deeper meaning.

No kissing in the office, it seemed that every other place was fair game.

With that thought, his smile deepened, he raised his hand and his index finger traced his own lips, “Do you want to kiss me back?”
