Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1308: 1307 Her Care

Gu Kai’s eyes flashed with a glimmer of light as he watched Bai Yiyi with a gentle expression.

The ambiguity in the air was like a tight net that enveloped them both, their heartbeats accelerating out of rhythm within this intensity.

Bai Yiyi’s hand trembled slightly, her tender, pale fingers clumsily clutched Gu Kai’s shirt and buttons.

Accidentally, her fingers touched the skin of his chest, perhaps due to the difference between men and women, Gu Kai’s body was burning hot, scalding Bai Yiyi’s fingertips like an electric shock, causing her to withdraw her hand.

“…”

Gu Kai’s Adam’s apple bobbed but he didn’t make a sound.

Watching Bai Yiyi stiffly fasten each button for him, the color at the bottom of his eyes gradually became clearer, a trace of warmth swept through his deep eyes, and the corners of Bo Yi’s lips curved up slightly.

“Thank you.”

His voice carried a rasp, alluring and sexy.

Bai Yiyi was buttoning the last one, when his deep voice slipped into her ear along with the warm male scent, causing her hand to jerk suddenly.

Her heartbeat stumbled for a moment, then she steadied herself to finish fastening the button for him.

“Done.”

In contrast to Gu Kai’s husky voice, Bai Yiyi’s was stiff, as if afraid he’d ask her to do something else, she turned and fled out of the main bedroom.

From beginning to end, she never dared to glance at Gu Kai once more.

Gu Kai, standing tall in front of the bed, watched her silhouette leave the bedroom with deep and thoughtful eyes. He raised his hand, his slender index finger gently touching his lips.

Somewhere in his heart, unknowingly, a layer of softness emerged. Perhaps, he should indeed give Tongtong a complete family, and let go of past grievances and hatred.

Turning his head, he glanced at Tongtong who was still sound asleep, and a gentle curve appeared on Gu Kai’s lips.

When Bai Yiyi reached the stairway, she remembered the injury on Gu Kai’s hand, she had noticed it earlier—a red bloodstain faintly seeping through the bandage.

She frowned slightly, hurried downstairs, and found the first aid kit prepared at home.

As soon as Gu Kai came downstairs, he saw the medicine box on the coffee table. Bai Yiyi was sitting on the couch next to the coffee table, the medicine box open. None of the items were taken out, but it was clear she was waiting for him.

Seeing him approaching, Bai Yiyi pursed her lips and stood up, her eyes fixed on his hand, “I’ve brought out the medicine box, come here and get it bandaged first, then you can eat.”

“And dinner?”

Gu Kai raised his eyebrows, “Didn’t you say Qian Songnan told you to hurry over within half an hour?”

A flash of displeasure crossed Bai Yiyi’s face, “It’s too late to go now anyway, better to eat first then go, just like you said, seeing someone like Qian Songnan just spoils the appetite.”

Gu Kai was amused by Bai Yiyi’s words, a trace of softness spread across his handsome features, and he sat down in front of the sofa, extending his right hand to Bai Yiyi: “Do you know how?”

“You do it yourself.” Bai Yiyi frowned as she looked at the palm of Gu Kai’s hand. Noticing that the bandage was redder than before, she hesitated, then changed her mind about bandaging it for him: “Go to the hospital, what if the wound gets infected?”

“Did you make dinner?”

Gu Kai, as if he hadn’t heard Bai Yiyi’s comment, turned his head towards the dining area.

Yiyi didn’t react for a moment, blinking in confusion, “Hmm, I did it.”

Gu Kai hooked his lips into a smile and moved toward the dining room, “We can eat first, then go to the hospital.”

“No, we need to go to the hospital now, or you can bandage it yourself before eating.” As Bai Yiyi saw Gu Kai walking towards the dining room, her little face changed, and she quickly caught up to grab his arm in annoyance.

“Alright, we’ll go to the hospital.”

Looking at Bai Yiyi’s thin face filled with stubborn anger, Gu Kai sighed helplessly and gave in.

It would be no issue to bandage someone else, but the key was his own right hand which was injured, leaving only his left hand for use, and it indeed was inconvenient.

Besides, he found that being cared for by this woman who would always argue and annoy him, enjoying her company, was quite a pleasurable feeling.

Seeing that he agreed, Bai Yiyi felt relieved. She was about to speak when Gu Kai beat her to it, telling the nanny emerging from the kitchen, “Leave the meals as they are; we will eat once we’re back. Tongtong is still asleep upstairs, take good care of her, and call Yiyi if anything comes up.”

“Yes, Mr. Gu.”

The nanny answered respectfully.

Bai Yiyi blinked, releasing the grip on Gu Kai’s arm.

Gu Kai looked down, glanced at her hand, then turned toward the door.

With Gu Kai’s hand injured, the task of driving naturally fell to Bai Yiyi.

He sat leisurely in the passenger seat, his dark eyes resting on the hands she had on the steering wheel, and the corners of his mouth curved unconsciously at the memory of her buttoning his shirt earlier.

Bai Yiyi was focused on driving and had no idea what Gu Kai was thinking about the whole way. At one point, she turned her head, and out of politeness, suggested, “If you’re still tired, close your eyes and get some sleep.”

“I’m not tired; I had a nap this afternoon and I’m feeling quite spirited now,” Gu Kai replied with a clear and cheerful voice, clearly well-rested and in a good mood.

His thoughts interrupted by her words, he found another topic: “What did Qian Songnan say when he called you?”

Upon hearing the name Qian Songnan, Bai Yiyi’s expression darkened slightly. “He said he wants to terminate the contract and demands us to pay a high penalty fee,” she said.

Her voice paused briefly as Bai Yiyi glanced at Gu Kai’s frowning reflection in the rearview mirror, hearing his disdainful scoff: “His son’s surgery hasn’t even been performed yet, and he dares to be so brazen as to try to blackmail us. Did he demand on the phone that you rush over within half an hour?”

Half an hour had already passed, and Qian Songnan had not called Bai Yiyi again.

Bai Yiyi nodded, “Yes, he actually called me before.”

“Before, when?”

Gu Kai’s eyes sharpened, and the lines of his face clouded over with a brewing storm, an oppressive air emanating from him.

“Yesterday morning, he called, initially inviting me out to eat,” Bai Yiyi said nonchalantly.

However, Gu Kai frowned at her words, his handsome face becoming even more solemn, “Him asking you out is like a weasel greeting a chicken for New Year—no good intentions. You weren’t foolish enough to agree, were you?”

“Of course not, and then he threatened me using the incident from last time when he warned Fang Zhiwei and said that we were deceiving him by pretending to be a married couple.”

“Hmph, it seems Qian Songnan doesn’t care about his son’s life. If Kangning Hospital refuses to accept his son, the boy has no chance of surviving,” Gu Kai’s tone was chillingly cold, his arrogance and disdain laid bare, which surprised Bai Yiyi slightly. She looked at him and asked, “Could Qian Songnan have contacted another doctor, didn’t you arrange for a team of specialists last time?”

Gu Kai laughed scornfully, “You think Qian Songnan has the clout to engage them? He’s dreaming. Just one word from me and no matter how much money he spends, it will be useless.”
