Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 225: 224 I like Mo Xiuchen

That night, MO Xiuchen and Gu Kai chatted till dawn before returning home.

He thought that Wen Ran was asleep, but when he entered the bedroom, he saw her sitting on the sofa, staring blankly with a pillow in her arms.

“Ranran, why aren’t you asleep yet?”

A flicker of heartache passed through MO Xiuchen’s eyes.

He strode to the sofa and bent down to hold her hand. It was deep autumn, and even the room’s constant temperature couldn’t ward off some chilliness.

She was wearing only thin pajamas, her hand cool against the warmth of his.

Meeting his gaze filled with compassion, Wen Ran gave a slight smile and said, “I was wondering when you’d be back. Your injuries haven’t fully healed yet, why did you go drinking?”

Leaning over, his breath sprayed across the tip of her nose, carrying a faint scent of alcohol.

MO Xiuchen picked her up from the sofa and headed for the bed, gently explaining, “I only had one drink with Ah Kai just now. I was too scared you’d scold me to drink more.”

He placed her on the bed and drew the blanket over her, “I’m going to rinse off. Are you going to wait for me or go to sleep?”

His words carried a hint of suggestion; Wen Ran looked up at his smiling eyes and replied without thinking, “I’m going to sleep!”

MO Xiuchen chuckled, “You’ve waited for so long, why not wait a few more minutes for me? I’ll be out soon.

With a glance at her bare skin, he turned and stepped into the bathroom.

Wen Ran watched him disappear into the doorway of the bathroom. Moments later, the sound of running water echoed from within.

Through the door, despite her resistance, her mind inevitably conjured up images of his well-built, enticing body.

Her face uncontrollably flushed a bit.

When he left, Wen Ran really thought that Shen Yuting was the one who needed him.

But when she smelt him, other than the smell of alcohol, there was no smell of a woman’s perfume.

She knew the perfume Shen Yuting used. Unlike the intrusive scent Cheng Jia used, it had a pleasant floral fragrance, with a hint of camellia.

If Shen Yuting had sought MO Xiuchen, and they had been together for so long, he would inevitably have some of her fragrance on him.

MO Xiuchen had said he and Gu Kai had a drink. It seems that he was with Gu Kai all that time.

Wen Ran didn’t know if it was her hypersensitivity, but she felt that MO Xiuchen had deliberately changed the topic tonight. When she asked about the unfinished conversation that night, he just brushed her off with fabricated answers.

He clearly received a call from Shen Yuting, but in the end, he was with Gu Kai…

“Ranran, did you ask me to come out for something?”

In a certain coffee shop, Shen Yuting sat across from Wen Ran. The warm autumn sun shone in through the window, casting a soft glow on her fair skin making her look more beautiful.

“Sister Ting, what would you like to drink?”

Wen Ran’s slender fingers unconsciously traced the rim of her cup, a light smile on her beautiful face.

Before, Shen Yuting didn’t notice. But now, knowing that Wen Ran was her cousin, she couldn’t help but notice her soft smile resemblance with Gu Kai.

Shen Yuting ordered a coffee. After the waiter served it, she added a spoonful of sugar and asked with concern, “Ranran, is Xiuchen’s injury better?”

“Huh?”

Wen Ran looked at Shen Yuting with surprised eyes. “Sister Ting, weren’t you with Xiuchen last night? Didn’t you ask him?”

Shen Yuting was taken aback by Wen Ran’s words and even paused in stirring her coffee. ‘IN-no, after I called him last night, I went to sleep. Ranran, don’t misunderstand… ‘

Wen Ran pretended to realize and interrupted her, “Sister Ting, you’re overthinking. I’m not misunderstanding anything. It’s just that last night, after Xiuchen answered your call, he said he had to go out and didn’t return until the early morning. I thought you needed him for something.”

Shen Yuting was quick to get Wen Ran’s implication. She understood that Wen Ran called her today because she was suspicious of her and Xiuchen’s late -night rendezvous.

Regarding the incident in City C, MO Xiuchen must have told Wen Ran.

With this thought, she showed some remorse. “Ranran, I know I can’t hide it from you. You must have noticed that I like Xiuchen. I have liked him for many years. When I was abroad and heard that he got married, I didn’t care much. I thought he was not the kind of person who would like any woman.”

Wen Ran was slightly surprised. She didn’t expect Shen Yuting to pour out her feelings to her. What she wanted to know was what Shen Yuting had said to MO Xiuchen on the phone last night.

Why did he suddenly leave, not to be with Shen Yuting, but with Gu Kai?

She suspected whether he really had something to take care of, or was just using it as an excuse to avoid her inquiries and questions.

While listening to Shen Yuting’s confession, Wen Ran found it improper to interrupt or make comments. She could only be a quiet listener.

“But then, he fell in love with you. The day I returned to China, I became a believer. I hadn’t seen him for half a year, and he had lost his former frosty demeanor. He spoke more gently.”

Shen Yuting spoke slowly, a sweet smile on her face. However, the sadness in her eyes was evident. Whether she was looking through Wen Ran at something else, or whether her gaze had fallen absent-mindedly somewhere, she was totally immersed in her own world of love.

“Especially when he talks about you, the tenderness in his voice, is enough to make any woman jealous. Listening to his words, my heart aches as if a knife is cutting into it. Then I met you, and decided to let him go.”

When she got to this point, Shen Yuting pressed her lips together tightly as if she was trying to suppress her sadness. “I didn’t expect that the day in City C, Xiuchen would take the brunt of the other woman’s attack for me. Knowing his action was just a reflex, he would have done the same for anyone.”

“But my heart couldn’t help but feel guilty and sad. That night, I didn’t sleep. The next morning, I brought the porridge I’d been cooking all night to the hospital to see him. He didn’t care about the breakfast I brought, nor did he appreciate my concern. But when you appeared in the ward, his happiness was so obvious and glaring. Since then, I have not disturbed him.”

“I called him last night, I just wanted to know if his injuries were better. I didn’t ask him to come out. In fact, even if I asked him, I know he wouldn’t.”

Shen Yuting wished she was the one who spent the night with MO Xiuchen. How could he leave Wen Ran to see her?

“Ranran, I tell you this not because I want to compete with you for Xiuchen. The person he loves is you, and I know that. I’m just making it clear that even though I like Xiuchen, I won’t do anything to hurt you or your relationship..”
