Wen Ran frowned, about to question why, but MO Xiuchen smiled slightly, raised his hand, caressed her fair cheek, and said tenderly, “You rushed over in the middle of the night, you should rest now. Take off your shoes and lie down.”

“No, I’m not tired right now, I’ll sleep later. Besides, you’re injured, I can’t lie with you.”

Wen Ran shook her head. Behind her, the door opened and a nurse entered with a cart, preparing to administer MO Xiuchen’s IV. Upon seeing Wen Ran, the nurse appeared surprised and confused.

When MO Xiuchen was brought in last night, there was a woman with him. She later found out that the woman was also a doctor.

Seeing her distressed and upset, she thought Doctor Shen and MO Xiuchen were lovers.

However, now seeing the gentle woman that MO Xiuchen was looking at was different from the one the previous night, she was puzzled.

MO Xiuchen gave a cursory glance to the approaching nurse, his gaze returned to Wen Ran’s face, and he spoke authoritatively yet gently, “Ranran, my IV needs at least two hours. Lie down next to me; if you don’t want to sleep, accompany me and chat.”

“It’s not appropriate, I’ll sit here with you.”

Wen Ran refused; this was a hospital with only a small bed where he slept. If she lay down, even if she didn’t hurt his wound, she was worried that it wouldn’t be good for his injury.

More importantly, MO Xiuchen had been acting inappropriately lately, and she was concerned about what he might do next.

“Ranran, do you want me to get up and help you remove your shoes?” MO Xiuchen ignored the nurse and looked deeply at Wen Ran.

At his words, she was startled, frowned, and eventually conceded under his

‘threat’, “Alright, I’ll just lie on that bed.”

His injury was positioned in such a way that it hurt him to move.

“Good, go rest on the bed for a while.”

Although MO Xiuchen wanted Wen Ran to lie on his bed, since she didn’t want to, he did not insist.

Watching Wen Ran get onto the bed, he finally extended his hand.

The nurse wore a calm smile on her face, but inside, she was astonished by MO Xiuchen’s attitude towards Wen Ran. Last night’s MO Xiuchen was not as gentle and caring as he was now.

Even in the face of Shen Yuting’s tears, he acted indifferent, giving off the impression of being a cold-hearted man.

He does have a softer side after all.

Such gentleness, that can make any woman fall for it. She glanced at Wen Ran lying on the bed, although there was tiredness in her eyes, but more of it was enviable happiness and sweetness.

Even though they each lay on separate beds, it was sweet and warm.

The nurse quickly set the IV and left their world of two. As she closed the door, she couldn’t help but glance at the two people on the bed. MO Xiuchen had already turned sideways, his IV-fed hand resting on top of the quilt, lovingly gazing at Wen Ran.

“How many days does he need to be hospitalized?”

The sudden voice behind her startled the nurse. She turned around, spotted the man in the hallway, and answered with a touch of embarrassment, “Mr. Mo’s wound is deep, so he needs to be hospitalized for observation for a few days to monitor his recovery and for any sign of infection…”

Qin Mu glanced at the closed hospital room door, then switched topics, “The two inside, they didn’t quarrel, did they?”

The nurse was surprised by his question and blinked in confusion. Recalling what she had just seen, she chuckled and said, “How could they argue? Mr. MO and that lady have a great relationship. That lady is so fortunate. Last night I saw Doctor Shen in tears in front of Mr. MO and he didn’t console her, but just now, the way Mr. MO looked at that lady, it’s unbelievable to see him looking so loving if you hadn’t seen it for yourself.”

This nurse might have been influenced by the too many romance novels she had read. Remembering how MO Xiuchen had looked at that lady, she couldn’t help musing on their meeting and falling in love, while verbalizing her thoughts.

Qin Mu was no longer surprised by her words, gestured for her to leave, and she did.

After the nurse left, he took a step forward, stood in the hallway outside the hospital room, glanced at the two people on the hospital bed through the transparent glass above the door, comfortable that he wasn’t needed inside. It appeared he could find a place to get some much-needed sleep.

In the hospital room, Wen Ran lay on the other bed, chatted with MO Xiuchen for a while, but soon started to feel drowsy.

She had only slept for two hours last night, and because she was too worried about MO Xiuchen, she couldn’t sleep on the plane. Now that she was lying next to him, feeling at ease, sleepiness was gradually taking over. “Sleep for a while. Once the IV is done, I’ll wake you up.”

MO Xiuchen kept watching her, speaking softly.

Wen Ran yawned twice, couldn’t resist the fatigue any longer, nodded, and was about to close her eyes when her mobile phone suddenly rang.

Remembering something, she exclaimed anxiously, “I came to City C and forgot to tell my brother.”

MO Xiuchen smiled to comfort her, “It’s okay, he won’t blame you.”

On this, MO Xiuchen was sure; no matter what Wen Ran did, Wen Jin would never blame her.

Wen Ran playfully stuck her tongue out, “Of course, my brother is the best in the world. I originally planned to tell him in the morning, but I forgot the time while chatting with you.”

Her brother must have gone to her office and now realising she was absent, had called her.

She answered the call, spoke in a soft and pleasant voice, “Brother, I’m in City C at the moment and won’t be able to go to the company for a few days. You’ll have to hold the fort alone…”

“When did you go to City C?”

Before Wen Ran could finish, Wen Jin interrupted her. It was not a tone of reproach but pure concern.

Wen Ran glanced at Xiuchen, and said quietly, “Brother, don’t worry, I’m fine. It’s MO Xiuchen who is injured. I am here to take care of him for a few days, and

I will return after that.”

Hearing that it was MO Xiuchen who was injured, Wen Jin frowned, asking worriedly, “How did he get hurt? Was it an ambush?”

MO Xiuchen had not only successfully become the president, but also caused Xiao Wenqing to take a big fall. The latter would never give up so easily. With him away on a business trip, an attack was inevitable.

“No, it was a small accident, Brother, has the cause of Zhou Mingfu’s death been determined yet?”

Wen Ran knew what her brother was worried about and glossed over it. She changed the subject to Zhou Mingfu’s death.

“The results haven’t come out yet; he sure got off easy.”

Every time Zhou Mingfu was mentioned, a touch of coldness crept into Wen Jin’s voice. No evidence was needed for him to know that Zhou Mingfu had his parents killed.

And yet now, he has easily died.

At first, he didn’t believe it was true.

“Exactly, he got off too lightly. But, at least now that he’s dead, he can’t do any more harm. Brother, take care of your health these days at the company, don’t work too hard,” chimed in Wen Ran..
