Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2242: Chapter 2241: Distress Signal

”Father, why do you think of me this way? Then I might as well leave, as I can’t be of any help here anyway,” said Fo Lanying, showing a look of anger, and turned to leave. Unexpectedly, You Meng swiftly blocked her path.

”My dear daughter, don’t run off recklessly. No matter what, you are my flesh and blood, and it wouldn’t do if someone captured you to threaten me,” You Meng said, signaling to the people below, who then approached Fo Lanying, obviously intending to put her under house arrest.

Fo Lanying gritted her teeth, ”Fine, I will remember this.”

After speaking, she turned and left; she was no match for You Meng!

...

On the official road, several fine horses galloped towards the southwest Duanyang City. The young faces on horseback appeared anxious and exhausted, evidently from traveling day and night.

Suddenly, a trip wire rose from the ground, causing the horse at the front to fall, and the two riders tumbled to the side.

The remaining three horses slowed down, but one rider still fell off. Fortunately, their martial arts skills were profound, so they weren’t injured.

”It’s an ambush!” a man said.

As soon as he spoke, a dozen figures emerged, all dressed as Quanrong experts.

”The chief has ordered, don’t let a single one escape!”

The two sides clashed, and soon, the five young individuals were at a disadvantage. Shortly after, someone screamed tragically and fell under the blade.

The fight was over quickly, and four Jiuli bodies lay on the ground. The leading Quanrong, angry, said, ”One still got away, what a pity.”

”Boss, he’s heavily injured, even if he escaped, he might not survive.”

”Keep watch, kill as many as come!”

...

”It’s a Jiuli distress signal.” Fen Jizhi pointed to a speck of green light in the distance.

”Are you sure? Could it be a trap to lure us?” Jiang Yichun asked worryingly, aware that their numbers were limited, while their enemies had thrice as many.

”I’m sure; no one else has this, not even all Jiuli members, only those from the Disciplinary Hall,” Fen Jizhi replied.

Bai Ruozhu felt a tightening in her heart, ”Could it be the Jiuli coming from outside? Were they ambushed?”

Fen Jizhi quickly gathered his belongings, ”I’ll take a few people to investigate, while you all focus on recovering your strength.”

Due to the battle yesterday, Bai Ruozhu was already injured and had no energy to rescue others, so she could only let Fen Jizhi check it out.

About two hours later, Fen Jizhi and his group returned safely, carrying a critically injured Jiuli member.

”Rest, Ruozhu. I’ll treat him,” Gao Zhou promptly took over the rescue, fearing Bai Ruozhu would aggravate her injury.

”What happened?” Bai Ruozhu asked Fen Jizhi.

Fen Jizhi shook his head, ”When we arrived, he was already unconscious, and we still don’t know what happened.”

Everyone looked at the unconscious man, and Bi Tao spoke, ”He’s Lun Tianyi, a core member of the Disciplinary Hall, highly skilled.”

”I remember he wasn’t traveling alone, could it be...” someone murmured.

Silence fell over the group, the air becoming tense.

Gao Zhou worked continuously, using inner strength to clear Lun Tianyi’s meridians and gave him medicine for internal injuries.

Lun Tianyi suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood clots and finally woke up.

”Tianyi, how are you?” Fen Jizhi supported him and asked.

”They’re all dead... It’s the Quanrong...” Lun Tianyi said agitatedly, spat out another mouthful of blood, and slipped back into unconsciousness.

Bi Tao pressed her mouth shut to suppress her sobs, but they couldn’t be held back entirely.

Bai Ruozhu clenched her fists tightly; they knew the Jiuli were coming, just as You Meng did. Was this ambush pre-arranged by him?

Although they achieved some success last night, today’s loss of several Jiuli fighters left them with no advantage!

Even the usually calm Xiu Shao gritted his teeth, ”You Meng, you’ll die a terrible death!”

Bai Ruozhu took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, ”The priority is to recuperate and prepare for the next battle. We also need to replenish the kerosene bombs, so we need to arrange for people to procure them.”

”Alright, I’ll handle the arrangements; you focus on healing,” Fen Jizhi said.

Jiang Yichun helped Bai Ruozhu to rest aside. Shortly after, Bai Ruozhu fell into a weary sleep, awaking to hear a man’s sobbing.

”I couldn’t save anyone, only escaped myself. How can I face going back?” A dagger lay beside Lun Tianyi, a shallow cut on his neck showing he had attempted suicide but was stopped.

”Nonsense!” Fen Jizhi reprimanded, ”If you truly feel guilty, you should strive to avenge them, not seek death. Would your death honor them?”

Lun Tianyi was momentarily stunned and then said dejectedly, ”In this state, how can I avenge them? Better to join them sooner.”

”They don’t need you to join them; if you have any courage, recover quickly and personally slay those enemies for their spirits,” Fen Jizhi said, unlocking Lun Tianyi’s acupoint. ”But if you must end your life, wasting their sacrifice, then die now, I won’t stop you!”

Lun Tianyi broke down crying, ”Revenge, I want revenge!”

Bai Ruozhu nodded silently, Fen Jizhi indeed had a way with words, changing a person’s despair so quickly; he was surely suited to be the tribal leader.

Lun Tianyi calmed down, and soon the supply team returned, and everyone commenced making kerosene bombs again, the busyness momentarily overshadowing their pain, but the atmosphere remained eerily still.

Fortunately, the next day, Jianqi brought back three Jiuli members who had also received the signal, reunited with Jianqi, and were delivered here safely.

”It’s great that you’re alright,” Fen Jizhi said with some emotion.

Everyone shared a strong sense of solace; seeing unharmed clan members at such a time was the greatest comfort to them.

”What should we do now?” someone asked.

Fen Jizhi looked at Bai Ruozhu, who thought for a moment and said, ”Wait.”

”What?” Bi Tao looked at Bai Ruozhu in confusion.

”Wait a bit more,” Bai Ruozhu repeated.

”Shouldn’t we take advantage of the surprise and attack them? What if they’re fully prepared and fire attacks don’t work?” someone questioned.

Bai Ruozhu shook her head, ”We’re already outmatched; if we act rashly, it might be us suffering the heavy losses. We can’t afford any more setbacks now!”

Silence enveloped the group; the Jiuli were few, and after the rebellion led by the second elder, they were already weakened. Such continuous losses were too great a blow to the Jiuli.

”Jianqi, send a message to the Commerce Association, have them spread the word for Jiuli not to return to the tribe or go to Duanyang City,” Bai Ruozhu said.
