Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2213: Chapter 2211: Found

”I wonder if Second sister-in-law has gone to the Commerce Association. The Commerce Association here colludes with King Ying’s family, and it’s long ceased to be independent.” Bai Ruozhu whispered.

Bai Zepei’s expression grew more solemn, ”I was too naive. I thought I was remarkable after passing the Enlightenment Tablet trial, but I clearly didn’t think things through enough.”

”But how did you get captured?” Bai Ruozhu couldn’t understand, as Second brother and Si Yihuan had unclear targets, and given their location, they were discovered shortly after entering Chengshui Country.

”That day, I received a secret order from the Emperor. He suspected that Tang Feng’s rebellion had other hidden elements, and sent me south to investigate clues while inspecting. At that time, I read Jiang Yichun’s letter and felt uneasy, so I thought it best to go to Chengshui once, to help you find Jiang Yichun.”

Bai Zepei spoke with dimmed eyes, ”Little sister, you know everything now, don’t you?”

Jiang Yichun appeared surprised, ”You can understand the Dark Guard’s secret codes?”

”I couldn’t at first, but after I passed the Enlightenment Tablet trial, my intellectual capabilities became quite exceptional,” Bai Zepei said.

Bai Ruozhu understood then that her Second brother went to Chengshui Country for her sake and didn’t tell her to spare her from sorrow.

Her eyes felt warm as she looked at her Second brother and said, ”Don’t take such risks again. You should act as a Stratagem Advisor and let the subordinates search instead.”

Upon mentioning this, Bai Zepei frowned, ”I was captured because there was a traitor among the Emperor’s men assigned to me. I had set up an array for concealment and defense, only to be attacked internally. I had to let Yihuan escape to inform you, and now her whereabouts are unknown.”

”Second brother, don’t worry, we’ll definitely find Second sister-in-law,” Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and continued, ”Let’s wait near the Commerce Association. If Second sister-in-law goes there, they’ll mostly have her monitored but won’t easily capture her. They need her to lead us out. But if Second sister-in-law hasn’t received my message, she’ll surely go back to the Commerce Association to inquire.”

Bai Zepei nodded, ”That’s what I thought too.”

He suddenly looked at Jiang Yichun and asked, ”Have you found a way now?”

”Not yet,” Jiang Yichun said gloomily.

Bai Zepei sighed silently, hoping he could find a way to help his little sister.

Meanwhile, Si Yihuan sneaked around the Commerce Association area, the sky completely darkened, and the lanterns at the association’s entrance emitted a dim glow, giving everyone a layer of disguise.

The Commerce Association members rested at scheduled times, closing and locking the door.

Si Yihuan felt disappointed. Can she really find Bai Zepei?

Bai Zepei was also anxious. The Commerce Association was closed. Would Si Yihuan come to inquire news?

Both parties hid in the shadows; the darkness prevented them from seeing each other.

After a while, Si Yihuan had a sudden idea. She secretly ran to the Commerce Association’s main gate, took out a dagger, and began carving something below the threshold.

She believed that with Bai Zepei or Bai Ruozhu’s observation skills, they would certainly find the mark she left.

Suddenly, someone rushed over and grabbed her into their arms.

Si Yihuan was startled, almost screaming, but soon she felt a familiar presence and relaxed immediately.

”I’m glad you’re safe. Let’s find a place to hide first.” Bai Zepei felt he had many questions to ask her, but it wasn’t the right time, nor was it the appropriate place, so he led her toward an alley.

Si Yihuan noticed Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun, and felt even more delighted. She grabbed Bai Zepei’s arm and said, ”We must find a way to save Feng Lanying. She got captured by Zhou Shixuan’s men while covering for me!”

”Feng Lanying?” Bai Zepei was a bit surprised, ”How is she here?”

”It’s a long story; let’s walk and talk. I’m afraid if we delay any longer, she might be in danger.” Si Yihuan said.

Bai Ruozhu was also quite surprised. Feng Lanying was here and got captured while covering for Second sister-in-law? What’s going on?

Only Jiang Yichun’s expression was somewhat awkward. He thought he would never cross paths with that woman again, though he had no real connection with Feng Lanying. But he did once use her as a scapegoat to provoke Ruozhu, so he wondered if Ruozhu would hold that against him when meeting Feng Lanying.

”Zhou Shixuan’s people likely have no intention of returning to Wangxiang City. It’s very likely Feng Lanying was taken along as they pursued my father. Let’s find a way to meet up with them,” Jiang Yichun suggested.

”Your father?” Bai Zepei showed a look of sudden realization, ”So the medical sage was your father.”

Bai Ruozhu laughed dryly twice; she hadn’t told the family about this yet.

The four of them quickly discussed; most of the city’s military force was led by Zhou Shixuan to capture them, and they were likely still moving north. Although the City Gate had been closed, there wouldn’t be many guards. They could rush straight through.

Then they went to steal three horses, and Bai Ruozhu said she could ride Xiaohei.

After a discussion, Bai Ruozhu said Xiaohei was the fastest and had the strongest combat capability. She would rush to open the City Gate, then Jiang Yichun and the others would charge through, with her covering them.

”No, that’s too dangerous. You should take Second brother and Second sister-in-law out first; I’ll cover us last,” Jiang Yichun disagreed.

Bai Ruozhu glared at him fiercely, ”Can you catch up with us on that horse? If you get captured or injured, wouldn’t it weaken our combat strength?”

Jiang Yichun was at a loss for words, feeling quite stifled recently. His wife being too strong wasn’t good either; it left him no room to show his abilities.

”I have plenty of life-preserving skills; I’ll be fine. It’s decided then,” Bai Ruozhu said with a stern face, not allowing any rebuttals. Time was of the essence; further arguing would only put Feng Lanying in greater danger.

The four arrived near the City Gate, where Bai Ruozhu mounted Xiaohei and charged toward it. She scattered some drug powder; if it could knock the guards unconscious, things would be even smoother.

Unexpectedly, when she went to open the gate, she found the gate bolt exceedingly heavy. She cursed herself for being careless; usually, several guards were required to open and close the gate.

But time was running out, and she couldn’t delay any longer, so she concentrated her inner strength and struck the gate bolt, finally pushing it out by a third.

Suddenly, a shadow rushed over. With a loud bang, Xiaohei’s head crashed into the gate bolt, knocking it down directly!

Bai Ruozhu felt a pang of heartache; the crash was so loud, Xiaohei must have felt a lot of pain, even though it had a helmet, the pain was unavoidable.

”Someone’s breaching the City Gate, shoot!” someone shouted.

”What are the archers doing above? Shoot arrows!” a guard shouted.

A copper coin flew over, and the guards fell with a thud. Jiang Yichun had arrived, throwing the copper coins like secret weapons.

”You guys go now!” Bai Ruozhu shouted loudly.
