Chapter 2211: Chapter 2209: Taking a Hostage Again

Bai Ruozhu signaled to Jiang Yichun with a glance, then led Zhou Shibin step by step closer. She wanted to get a better look at her second brother’s situation; she had a tacit understanding with her brother and could understand his intentions.

Jiang Yichun’s eyes shone brightly. He carefully examined the opponent’s subordinates and found only one that seemed without presence to have great strength; the others were average. With just a glance from Bai Ruozhu, he knew what she wanted to do.

His wife truly was bold and decisive.

Zhou Shixuan noticed the foul smell on Zhou Shibin and couldn’t help but laugh, ”Second brother, how did you end up looking like this? Don’t be afraid, big brother will take good ’care’ of you.”

He emphasized the word ’care’ with a killing intent, making Zhou Shibin shiver all over. Unfortunately, he couldn’t move at all; otherwise, he would hold onto Bai Ruozhu’s leg, promising never to escape again and to obediently follow them out of the country.

Bai Zepei looked at Bai Ruozhu, nodding slightly toward her, the fingers hidden in his sleeve moving slightly.

At this time, Zhou Shixuan smugly said to Bai Zepei, ”Brother Bai, let us part on good terms. I haven’t mistreated you along this journey, have I?”

This was a reminder for Bai Zepei to fulfill his promise.

”What the prince said is true. I owe the prince for his care along this journey.” Bai Zepei said in a clear and bright voice.

Hidden in the distance, Si Yihuan instantly burst into tears. Her Zepei was alright and seemed not to have suffered too much. That was wonderful!

”Master, please allow me to go.” The expert behind Zhou Shixuan finally spoke.

Zhou Shixuan wanted to watch his rebellious brother being killed up close, but he wasn’t foolish beyond redemption, so he nodded and agreed.

”Prince Zhou lacks sincerity, don’t you love your brother the most? Aren’t you afraid we’ll tear up the ticket if you don’t come to exchange yourself?” Bai Ruozhu said lazily.

Zhou Shixuan immediately became wary, ”My martial arts are not as good as you Jianghu people. Having my confidant go for me is acceptable. He is also one person and won’t do anything tricky.”

Bai Ruozhu sneered and said no more. Zhou Shixuan relaxed, thinking that Bai Ruozhu was merely indulging in useless banter.

By now, the two sides were nearly at the exchange point. Zhou Shibin whispered, ”Bai Ruozhu, don’t hand me over to him. I can promise you anything.”

”It’s over; your credibility has been completely exhausted.” Bai Ruozhu said coldly.

The two sides stood in confrontation, and the unassuming expert stared at Bai Ruozhu, with a sharp glint in his eyes.

”Don’t play any tricks.” He said coldly.

Then, he pushed Bai Zepei over, and Bai Ruozhu consequently tossed Zhou Shibin to him.

Just then, a faint white light shot from Bai Zepei’s forehead towards that man. Before he could catch Zhou Shibin, he screamed and fell to the ground, clutching his head in pain.

Bai Ruozhu’s figure had already shot out explosively, heading straight for Zhou Shixuan. Startled, Zhou Shixuan quickly drew his sword to strike, but Bai Ruozhu easily evaded his attack. The adjacent guards attacked, but Bai Ruozhu easily avoided them as well. With a roar, a black leopard appeared out of nowhere, instantly knocking over the people trying to surround them.

Zhou Shixuan’s subordinates exclaimed in astonishment, how could this leopard be so fierce, even wearing strange armor!

In just a few breaths, Gao Zhou had already subdued the expert who had suffered a Divine Sense Attack, and Jiang Yichun came over to help capture Zhou Shixuan.

”Order your men to retreat five miles; don’t follow us. Once we reach Danliang, we will release you!” Bai Ruozhu shouted sternly.

Zhou Shibin, who had fallen and could not move, suddenly laughed, tears streaming down his face.

He was too familiar with these lines; previously, Bai Ruozhu had said the same when capturing him. He suddenly felt quite delighted inside; wasn’t his stupid brother trying to kill him? Let him experience what it’s like to be held hostage.

”Bai Zepei, you are unfaithful. Despite my courtesy towards you all along and I wasn’t the one who initially captured you, you are still a scholar. How could you behave this way?” Zhou Shixuan shouted angrily.

Bai Zepei nonchalantly said, ”Don’t worry, I will treat you well along the way too, won’t let you suffer the slightest pain, consider it even, right?”

”You...” Zhou Shixuan wanted to curse, ”Didn’t you promise me? Tell your sister to release me, and we’ll call it even.”

”No can do, the prince has too many people. We don’t want to be surrounded and get caught for rewards, so we can only wrong the prince.” Bai Zepei said and then laughed.

Seeing Bai Zepei being rescued, Si Yihuan got excited and wanted to rush over, but was pulled back by Fo Lanying.

”Have you lost your mind? If you rush over now and get caught by those people, wouldn’t Bai Ruozhu and the others be in trouble too?” Fo Lanying whispered.

They were following Zhou Shixuan’s group from behind, and to meet up with Bai Ruozhu, they would need to bypass Zhou Shixuan’s camp. Running out directly could very well get them captured.

Si Yihuan showed a look of shame. ”I’m too worried, let’s find a way around them.”

”Follow me, be careful and don’t let anyone notice us.” Fo Lanying spoke softly. Living independently for a while had taught her quite a bit, including skills in concealment and moving through the woods.

In contrast, Si Yihuan, a sheltered young lady, had rarely been out and had it not been for meeting Fo Lanying, she might have been caught already.

To avoid alerting the enemy, the two of them could only take the longer route around. From a distance, they saw Bai Ruozhu’s team retreating north quickly.

Si Yihuan grew anxious; at this pace, they might not catch up to Bai Zepei, and could possibly lose them entirely.

However, this time she remained calm. Even if they couldn’t catch up, escaping this crisis and finding a way to contact them later would not be too late.

Fo Lanying quickened her pace slightly while leading, not expecting to suddenly stumble and fall.

Si Yihuan was shocked and rushed over to check, finding it was an animal trap. Fo Lanying had fallen into it, drawing in a sharp breath as she realized her foot was caught in an animal trap!

Already, Fo Lanying’s ankle was stained with blood, cold sweat covered her forehead with pain, yet she tightly bit her lip, not making a sound.

Si Yihuan’s eyes turned red as she hurriedly slid into the trap to help remove the trap from her.

”Don’t move, you lack the strength.” Fo Lanying said with a trembling voice.

”Are your bones alright? The injury is so severe, what should we do?” Si Yihuan cried, ”Don’t be afraid, Ruozhu is nearby; she can definitely heal you.”

Fo Lanying forced a strained smile, ”It’s alright, no bones are broken. I just haven’t caught my breath. I can handle it myself.”

With that, she pulled out a kerchief from her bosom and tightly bit it in her mouth, then used both hands to attempt prying open the animal trap...
