Chapter 2212: Chapter 2210: Becoming the Bait Herself

A low whimper came from Fo Lanying; she was truly in great pain, but she continued to endure it.

Si Yihuan’s face turned pale, too scared to look. If it were her, she would certainly scream loudly from the pain.

Finally, the trap was pried open, and Fo Lanying tossed it aside, gasping in pain with tears streaming down her face.

”Are you... are you feeling any better?” Si Yihuan, not very familiar with her, still felt sympathy seeing her in such pain and wanted to comfort her but didn’t know how.

Her hand raised and hesitated, finally resting on Si Yihuan’s back, gently patting it like coaxing a child, ”It’s okay, it’s okay.”

Her awkward but sincere gesture reminded her of how her mother comforted her in the past when she was unhappy.

After patting for a while, she hurriedly took a dagger, cut a strip from the inner garment, took out a small bottle of medicine from her body, and applied it to Fo Lanying’s wound before bandaging it up.

During this, Fo Lanying let out a few sighs due to the pain, but she was clearly much better.

”Thank you,” Fo Lanying said softly.

”I should thank you. You fell into the trap while trying to help me,” Si Yihuan quickly replied.

Fo Lanying smiled bitterly, ”I wasn’t careful enough. No one else would have fallen into a hunter’s trap so easily. I just don’t have enough experience.”

”You’re already amazing, see, I don’t know a thing,” Si Yihuan said, her eyes reddening. She was just a delicate young lady, no wonder the Jiuli Clan thought she wasn’t worthy of Zepei.

Fo Lanying suddenly smiled and nudged her arm, ”I used to think you were just a delicate young lady who knew nothing, but now I see I judged based on appearances. No wonder Bai Zepei likes you so much.”

Si Yihuan blushed, ”It’s not like that.”

”If you practice your Divine Sense well, you’ll be much stronger. Not every girl would dare help bandage my wound in that situation just now,” Fo Lanying said with a smile.

Si Yihuan looked at her and smiled, both of them seeing each other in a completely new light.

”How are you? Can you get up?” Si Yihuan asked.

”I’m fine. Your medicine is very effective,” Fo Lanying said.

Suddenly, footsteps sounded from not far away, causing their hearts to tighten. So many chaotic footsteps must mean a large group of people. Could it be...

They held their breath. The trap was not very close to the path. They had tried to sneak into the Forest to bypass Zhou Shixuan’s men, but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t find the trap. Zhou Shixuan was captured, and they could take their anger out on the two of them.

What should they do? Among them, only Fo Lanying knew Martial Arts. Si Yihuan could barely use Divine Sense, and against so many people, even escaping would be difficult.

”Boss, are we just going to watch the prince get captured?” someone asked angrily.

The one referred to as ”Boss” was the one Bai Zepei had attacked with his Divine Sense. His brain was now blank, rubbing his temples, he said, ”The prince is of the Royal Family, you can’t compare him to those people; ensure his safety first. They wouldn’t dare harm the prince.”

Having the prince captured by Bai Ruozhu, they had to swallow their pride.

Someone, not satisfied with the leader, often thought him to have high Martial Arts skills but not suitable for leading them.

”Claim to be a top expert, yet got taken down instantly. If not for your uselessness, the prince wouldn’t have been captured by Bai Ruozhu!” someone grumbled.

As soon as he finished speaking, the leader reached out and suddenly caught him in his palm. With a crack, in just a breath, the speaker’s neck was snapped!

Someone gasped in shock, but there was more silence. Everyone retreated, no longer daring to refute or utter a word.

Si Yihuan and Fo Lanying guessed somewhat the situation, feeling chilled to the bone. What would they do if they got caught?

”Follow me around, figure out a way to support the prince,” the leader said coldly, causing everyone to shiver involuntarily.

Then came shuffling footsteps; they thought these people were about to leave, but suddenly someone shouted, ”Boss, there are signs of someone passing through here, leading into the Forest.”

”Send two people to check it out,” the leader ordered.

In the trap, Si Yihuan and Fo Lanying exchanged a hopeless glance; they couldn’t escape!

Suddenly, Fo Lanying signaled Si Yihuan to be quiet and mouthed: Go find Bai Ruozhu.

Before Si Yihuan could react, Fo Lanying leaped from the trap and suddenly ran to the side.

”Someone, chase them!” someone yelled, followed by chaotic footsteps heading in the direction where Fo Lanying was escaping.

In the trap, Si Yihuan cried uncontrollably. How could Fo Lanying make herself the bait to protect her? She used to fight with her and Zepei and even wanted to defeat Ruozhu, so why was she doing this?

She wished it was herself that rushed out. At least, her heart wouldn’t feel this way.

She took several deep breaths, finally calming herself. She couldn’t rush out, or everything Fo Lanying did would be in vain. She must quickly find Ruozhu and the others to rescue Fo Lanying.

Silence fell around her. Si Yihuan covered her mouth tightly, not daring to let herself cry out loud. She didn’t know if the enemy was gone or what would happen to Fo Lanying.

The sky gradually darkened, the commotion long gone. Only then did she cautiously climb out of the trap. Without Martial Arts, it was exhausting to climb out, and by the time she managed, both her palms were scraped, but she couldn’t feel the pain, too concerned about the task at hand.

She was more careful this time, using a branch to probe her way, and sure enough, not far ahead, she discovered another trap.

A trap implies nearby prey, possibly harmless animals, or maybe a large Beast. Si Yihuan became increasingly frightened as she walked and suddenly crouched down, crying.

She cried in a very subdued manner, fearing her sobs would alert Zhou Shixuan’s men or a nearby Beast. But what should she do now? How could she find Zepei and the others? Could she still save Fo Lanying in time?

Suddenly, her eyes lit up, realizing she shouldn’t blindly search. She should return to Wangxiang City!

Zepei, once safe, would surely try to find her, first considering Wangxiang City because he had once said to send a message to Bai Ruozhu at the Commerce Association in Wangxiang City.

With this thought, Si Yihuan calmed down, step by step heading towards Wangxiang City, finally making it inside before the City Gate closed.

On the other side, Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun, along with Bai Zepei, were searching all over Wangxiang City. Once they had shaken off Zhou Shixuan’s subordinates, Bai Zepei had mentioned Si Yihuan’s situation. They briefly discussed and decided to let Gao Zhou and his group take Zhou Shixuan north, while the three of them returned to Wangxiang City in disguise to find Si Yihuan.
