Chapter 2223: Dengdeng is Not to Be Messed With

Bai Ruozhu’s heart tightened, afraid that her son had been deceived. Yet, Little Dengdeng secretly signaled his mother with his eyes, looking particularly clever. Bai Ruozhu was taken aback; had she underestimated her son?

”Little brother, my parents won first place, and there are many prizes for them to claim. I’ll take you to collect the prizes first. What if they get snatched by someone else? Your parents would suffer a loss,” the man said in a tone meant to coax children.

”But my parents told me to wait for them to come down,” Little Dengdeng said, while secretly making signals to his mother.

”It’s alright, they’ll have to go collect the prizes soon. Uncle works at this restaurant, how could I deceive you?” said the kidnapper.

Little Dengdeng showed hesitation, but finally nodded, ”What prizes are there, and why would others take them?”

”There are several groups competing. Your parents came first, so they get the most prizes. But if their family goes first and collects the prizes, there might not be much left for your parents,” the kidnapper said, taking out a piece of maltose from his pocket. ”Here, Uncle gives you candy.”

”Thank you, Uncle.” Little Dengdeng took the candy but didn’t eat it. He secretly hid it in his clothes. His mother had said not to eat things from strangers unless she had checked them. Besides, he was not a small child like his two younger brothers who liked candy!

Seeing her son leave with the kidnapper, Bai Ruozhu felt uneasy. She instructed Xiaomao secretly to follow him.

With Furball and Tutu for protection, nothing should go wrong. She tugged Jiang Yichun and whispered, ”Let’s go, let’s see what our son wants to do.”

The couple said farewell to the judges, and under the crowd’s watchful eye, they quietly followed the kidnapper who had deceived Dengdeng.

The kidnapper took Dengdeng to a secluded alley, stopping at the door of a shabby room.

”The prizes are inside, go ahead and pick them,” the kidnapper grinned.

”Why in a place like this?” Little Dengdeng looked disdainful.

”You little brat, you think this place is shabby? The restaurant isn’t that big; prizes have to be stored in a warehouse. This place is cheap, perfect for a storeroom,” the kidnapper suddenly realized this kid seemed too smart, having not eaten the drugged candy yet.

But no matter, if he resisted, he would just grab him into the yard directly.

Little Dengdeng mumbled an ”oh” and pushed the door open. A brawny man stood inside, grinning maliciously when he saw him, ”This one’s a good catch, looks much better than the others inside. Should be worth a good price.”

”What do you know!” The kidnapper boasted, ”This kid’s parents look wealthy; their clothes are all very fine. When we ask them for a ransom of ten thousand silver, we won’t have to worry for the rest of our lives.”

Dengdeng pretended to be scared, ”You, you’re bad people! I want to find my mom, I want to find my mom!”

”Haha, stop shouting. No one lives nearby, and no one will come to save you. But if you don’t behave, we’ll have to gag you.” The kidnapper waved his fist as he spoke.

Little Dengdeng feigned terror, crouching in the corner and sobbing.

Tutu, in his arms, rolled its eyes. The little master and his mistress had such bad tastes; in reality, they were both very wicked. Showing weakness now was just to toy with others later.

”Keep an eye on him, I’ll go out and give his parents a message to bring the ransom!” the kidnapper instructed the brawny man with a grin.

Just as he was about to leave, Little Dengdeng suddenly stopped crying, and stood blocking the direction of the main gate, saying, ”You think you can leave now? It’s not that easy.”

The kidnapper was startled; did this kid want to leave with him? But he quickly realized the child in front of him wasn’t afraid at all, unlike the other children he had caught before.

”Oh, this little brat is quite arrogant, isn’t he? Do you believe I can kill you with just one finger?” The brawny man grew annoyed and strode towards Dengdeng.

Dengdeng put down the black Tutu and whispered, ”Hide to the side, don’t get hurt.”

Tutu was a bit worried; after all, Little Dengdeng was so small, with such short arms.

When the brawny man swung his fist, Little Dengdeng dodged with a swift move.

He was naturally small, and with his light leap and agility skills, he was exceptionally nimble in avoiding attacks. The brawny man seemed strong but had little martial arts, almost being played like a monkey by Dengdeng.

No, not a monkey, with his build, should be said a bear.

Little Dengdeng giggled as he ran, ”You can’t catch me, can’t catch me!”

The kidnapper stamped his foot and joined in the chase, lunging at Dengdeng.

Unexpectedly, in just a few moments, both the brawny man and the kidnapper fell to the ground, the kidnapper’s eyes widened, ”You, you drugged us?”

Little Dengdeng smirked, ”Who said kids are easy to bully? I’m about to grow up, not so easy to be deceived!”

Unfortunately, the brawny man and the kidnapper passed out before they could hear the end.

Bai Ruozhu was about to jump into the yard but was stopped by Jiang Yichun, who gestured her to silence.

Children must grow up, although it’s still early, they needed the chance to independently support their own skies.

Seeing Little Dengdeng walk toward the room, he was particularly cautious, carrying some drug powder Bai Ruozhu had given him in his hand. Jiang Yichun nodded in satisfaction. His son was attentive and not a reckless child.

Fortunately, there were only a few bound children inside, no other kidnappers.

”Don’t be afraid, I’m here to rescue you!” Little Dengdeng said sympathetically upon seeing the terrified faces of the children.

He went to untie them, but how could his little hands undo the ropes? Still, Tutu saw and jumped up, using its teeth to gnaw and break the bonds.

”Tutu, who knew your teeth were so powerful, you mustn’t bite me,” Little Dengdeng laughed, patting Tutu’s head.

Tutu smartly shook its head, meaning how could it ever bite its master?

”Hehe, I knew you were the best,” Little Dengdeng said with a laugh.

The children were freed, their faces filled with fear and confusion, hardly daring to speak.

”You’re free now, hurry home,” Little Dengdeng told them.

None of the children dared speak. After a while, one slightly older child finally spoke, ”We don’t know the way home.”

Little Dengdeng scratched his head, ”Then I’ll go report to the officers, let them help find your families.”

The children nodded, the one who spoke earlier looked at Little Dengdeng with admiration, ”You’re amazing. If I were like you, I wouldn’t have been caught by bad people.”

”If you work hard, you will become amazing too,” Little Dengdeng said earnestly.

Hiding outside, Bai Ruozhu stifled a laugh; she never knew her little Dengdeng was so encouraging.

”Can I follow you? I can be your servant,” the child said again.
