Chapter 1347: Chapter 1349 The Madman’s Gift_1

Although Sangta was not accompanied by the same black panther that had bitten off her leg and nearly killed her, the white tiger with him seemed even more formidable. Jin Jing stepped back in fright, hastily wiping the blood from her mouth, terrified that the fresh blood on her face would provoke the white tiger to pounce.

She never wanted to experience such a nightmare again!

”Don’t worry, it’s not interested in a corpse,” Sangta lazily said, leaning against the door with the demeanor of someone enjoying the show.

All of Jin Jing’s fear shattered with the words ”a corpse,” as rage exploded within her. She yelled at Sangta, ”Shut up, who made me like this? It’s all because of you, demon!”

Sangta chuckled lowly, ”You reap what you sow, whom can you blame?”

”I did nothing wrong; I just liked Prince Bai. Why can’t I like him? Don’t you also like that Lin Zhu? Why must I turn into this monstrous, ghost-like creature?” Jin Jing raised her blood-drenched hands and shrieked, feeling more like a monster each time she consumed human flesh, especially after sustaining injuries.

”Whom you like is your business, but you messed with my woman, so consider it polite that I let you live,” Sangta said, his eyes suddenly narrowing, a flash of gold and, before Jin Jing knew it, something had swung through the air, and she screamed in agony, clutching her arm as a severed hand fell to the ground, bloodless at the cut.

”My hand...” Jin Jing collapsed to the ground in pain, reaching out for her severed hand, but just then, the white tiger pounced, snatched the hand in its mouth, and returned to Sangta’s side, handing it over to him.

”That was your punishment for laying a hand on her. I’ve spared your life; go tell that woman Honglian to behave, or the Holy Hall won’t stand a chance in what it intends to do,” Sangta said with a face full of disgust as he tossed Jin Jing’s severed hand into the air and caught it again.

His smile now was coldly devoid of any warmth, ”Since your body isn’t dead yet, you could theoretically use an evil technique to graft on other people’s limbs, but you’re quite incapable of grabbing hands in your current state. This disgusting thing, though, I’ll keep as a reminder of your punishment.”

Jin Jing trembled in agony. Did he chop off her right hand so she couldn’t wield a sword against that woman? Why was he so protective of her? Why did everyone like that woman?

”Just kill me. Even as a ghost, I won’t let her off!” Jin Jing gritted her teeth and said.

”Why should I kill you? Honglian’s efforts in raising such a monster are a great service to the Holy Hall. Keeping you alive is beneficial; I certainly can’t bear to kill you.” Sangta laughed happily, then, paying no more attention to Jin Jing, he swung himself onto the tiger’s back and disappeared at the end of the alley.

Jin Jing began to cry in pain and suddenly crawled back to continue gnawing on the man’s corpse. Hearing the noise, a neighbor came out to check and was so horrified by the bloody scene that they screamed in shock. Jin Jing quickly covered her face and fled from the alley like a madwoman.

...

Meanwhile, Bai Ruozhu had returned to the Palace with Jiang Yichun. His Majesty was greatly annoyed upon hearing of the incident but couldn’t help but feel pleased to know that the Holy Guards sent to assassinate had all been killed.

”That Lady Diao Mo’s daughter seems to harbor a particular grudge against you. Also, what kind of monster is she exactly? I’ve never heard of a living person not bleeding from an injury,” His Majesty asked.

Bai Ruozhu gave Jiang Yichun a look and said, ”Wouldn’t this happen when my husband attracts admirers wherever he goes? Jin Jing took a fancy to him, and she has made several attempts on my life before. It wasn’t her first time trying to sentence me at the Holy Hall; she even secretly poisoned my porridge on the road. Unfortunately, the kitchen maid at the Inn mistook it and accidentally lost her life because of it.”

Because the spot on her forehead where Jiang Yichun had knocked her was still faintly aching, she brought up the matter with no courtesy whatsoever.

The sovereign uttered a couple of ”ohs,” wearing an expression that said ”so that’s how it is,” while Jiang Yichun’s face turned an angry shade of green on the side.

”I suspect she was refined into a flesh corpse by someone in the Holy Hall using an evil technique, which is done when a person is on the verge of death but still breathing. Because it is an evil technique, I do not know the specific methods, but I do know that those turned into flesh corpses must endure extreme agony. Afterwards, although they seem alive, they are not truly living,” Bai Ruozhu said, her face showing disgust, ”Jin Jing’s leg was bitten off by Sangta’s leopard, and to make her whole, they cut off Zhanna’s leg.”

”Furthermore, I have read in books that flesh corpses need to feed on the flesh and blood of living people. Jin Jing has survived until now and appears no different from a living person, who knows how many she has consumed,” Bai Ruozhu added.

She had seen similar records in the Astrology Tower before and had thought it was just myth and legend, not taking it seriously. Yet she had not expected such evil techniques to truly exist in this era.

The rage of the sovereign grew with every word, and he slammed his palm on the table, ”The Holy Hall has gone too far, committing such evil deeds in the name of the gods; it is utterly unforgivable. If the gods are sentient, they should punish them first!”

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes suddenly lit up, and she slapped her palm, exclaiming, ”The sovereign’s words couldn’t be more accurate; if the gods were to manifest, they should indeed punish them first!”

As she spoke, her eyes narrowed, making her resemble a sly fox, and Jiang Yichun couldn’t help but laugh, ”Have you thought of another good plan?”

”I haven’t fully figured it out yet; give me two days. I need to ponder it properly.” Bai Ruozhu’s smile curved her eyes, the Holy Hall likes to use the gods to stir up the populace, right? Then let them taste the fruits of their own doing.

At that moment, a guard’s voice announced from outside the Main Hall: ”Sovereign, the Sangta Prince of the Barbarian Clan requests an audience, he says he has business with Madam Bai.”

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched, what was Sangta doing? Coming so ostentatiously to see her, was he looking for trouble?

Sangta, now a guest of the sovereign, was housed in the embassy in Gaochang City and was allowed to enter the Palace to request an audience with the sovereign.

Jun Haoran looked at Bai Ruozhu in surprise and told the guard, ”Let him in.”

Sangta walked into the Main Hall in a carefree manner, fortunately not bringing his white tiger along, which would have made the guards quite nervous.

”Sovereign of the Western Regions, I was passing by and wanted to deliver a gift to Lin Zhu, I apologize for the interruption,” said Sangta quite naturally, as if greeting an old friend, yet considering his junior status to the sovereign, such an attitude was conspicuously brash.

Before the sovereign could respond, Jiang Yichun coldly said, ”My lady does not accept gifts from just anyone, so you better leave quickly.”

Sangta was not offended and, raising his hand with a smile towards Bai Ruozhu, said, ”At least consider looking at it first, who knows, she might like it?”

When Bai Ruozhu saw the gift he was referring to, she couldn’t help but inhale sharply—what kind of madman would give such a gift!
